Hey Bara, just wanted to say I love your content. I go through a lot of phases of playing MWO, Mechwarrior 5. And Battletrch, and it's your videos that always tip me back towards playing one of those games! Your videos have also helped me get a number of friends into MWO, so now I can drop as a lance!
I’m wondering about using the BAS-A or B chassis instead. Replace the CT missiles with ECM so the enemy can’t lock on to you at long range. And 6xLRM-15 still seems like plenty.
A pro tip: use chain fire on groups 1 and 2, split ur lrms, then push 2 buttons together and that's how u shoot with 2 lurms with max speed without ghost heat
LRM monstrosity generally work better (many times rediculously good) on tabletop or strategy game. Collision detection usually "nerf" this to kingdom come in most sim.
Thanks for the MWO Bara! It looks like playing a high DPS LRM boat is much more challenging that I had given it credit for. Obviously if you team up with a reliable scout mech in multiple matches, you would rock their socks off.
For my BAS LRM boat, I went the BAS-E 'set of 8' omnipods, 3xLRM20, 1xLRM15, 1xERPPC, CAP. The single peep is nice for knocking down the ECM at mid/long range.
In my mind, as an lrm boat, killing lights is the main priority if you can hit them. Getting rid of them removes targeting from your enemies, and they should be much easier to put down as well.
I find lights hard to hit in a LRM boat, and half of them are fast enough to evade missiles anyway. If I want to hunt lights, I go with either streaks, or something I can sandpaper with at close range, like LBX-20 or SRMs.
@@mattjohnson8585 Hmm, I haven't had that experience. If they're bouncing around buildings and other terrain that will block the missiles, yeah, the missiles wont connect. But if they're out in the open, my lrms will wreck them. I run a 60 missile build on a storm crow d variant, so it's not like I'm getting chassis velocity bonuses either.
Back before the middle mechanic change were they made them change flight paths based on if you have line of sight or not, I got 1,615 points of damage in a MADiic Scorch with LRM 80 + Artemis & around 2.5k ammo

@@gabriellentz2516 Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the kids Callsign in game, I couldn't remember it... I just remember Alpha Striking him in the back, after he killed a Grasshopper on our team...
baradul, I don't know if you want this cursed information. I will provide it anyway. By turning off arm lock, and having a button to toggle torso lock, you can point your mech up, or to the side, to force the missiles to move some distance in that direction before manuevering towards targets. What does this mean? If you have arms, you can look up, torso lock, then bring your arms down to lob missiles over a wall without revealing yourself. You can also torso lock 45 degrees on the edge of a building, then use the arms to lock on and fire on a target that is around the corner. No requirement to reveal yourself. Only a requirement for locks.
Usually the LRM15 gets a heat penalty per damage done for being so small and lightweight. Don't know about MWO but if you change from 4LRM15 to 3LRM20 can be cooler even tho you need to remove one DHS. Also you go down from 7 to 6 launcher which means you don't need to fire one single LRM15 in the end.
Heavy Gears was a game back in the mid-90's. There was one skirmish map you were dropped onto the side of a valley and could nearly never successfully make it down to the valley bottom before being tank-sniped, and then if you lived you had to blaze-ass at a hard-right to get around like 4 far-distant tanks to reach a destination. Finally amped up the drives on my Gear, loaded it with 2x2 anti-tank missiles, and gave it a heavy rail gun. Finally made it out of that skirmish after like 2 weeks of trying and cobbling together various Gear versions.
Hey man I know sometimes I gotta take a break from mwo but I just wanna say thank you for making this content. All my friends play games like cod And stuff so it's nice to have you around baradul.
Side note: MWO stopped just short of being able to introduce the Blood Asp F, since the weapon updates quit coming before things like plasma cannons and AP Gauss. That would have meant 2M side torso pods and a dual ballistic CT (I know, that's not much right now). How much crazier could you get with that?
Personally Baradul my friend I always say play what you want and are comfortable with. If lurm Mechs are your thing play them. If heavy AC brawlers are your thing then play happily. Every type have a place in the battlefield.
Having that much hardpoint capacity isn't to the benefit of lobbing insane missile numbers, though obviously there's the match #1 memelaunchers.
