Those new Cadillacs look pretty slick. Love the idea of the automatic roof shade. I think when the refresh of the model Y comes out at the end of the year or beginning of next year that'll be the one to get. If they would have refreshed the model Y summer we might have considered that. But since the 3 had the refresh and was just such good value we were really happy with that choice as a commuter.
I got my Model RWD in June of 2023. Just about 20,000 miles in and all is good. I believe your 2024 Model 3 RWD has the LFP batteries. Just charge it to 100% all the time. That battery package works differently than the other battery options. You are right, people under estimate how much you get with a base trim Model 3. I get 260 miles of range on a charge. When I first got my Model 3, it showed 272 miles of range. There has been some recent reports showing the batteries in the Model 3 are lasting longer than first estimated. It seems like 300,000 miles would be the least to expect. 500,000 is what should be doable. If you have not set your vehiclevto Chill Mode, do it. You're probably right and I should switch to chill mode but I'm still having fun in standard mode lol. Yeah I watched the engineering explained talk about the LFP batteries where they made a good case for not fully charging it but I don't think it really matters in the long run that much. How do you charge your Tesla do you just trickle charge it in the garage? Glad to hear you're happy with yours still.
@TheSAHDLife I use a Tesla home charger. It cost $400 to install ans $400 for the unit at the time. Take 6 hours to charge from 5% to 95%. Tesla factory guide lines say 100% charge is fine and so far data seems to show no issues. Hope you enjoy your Model 3 as much as I have mine.
I own a 2019 Model 3 Performance (bought in 2019) with nearly 83,000 miles on the od. Have driven across from CA to GA three times over those years. It's also literally a daily driver. Besides tires, I've spent $180 in maintenance - air filters (which I need to change again) and at around 65k my rear camera faulted and was replaced. Both times Tesla service came to my residence to fix. It's the most reliable car I've owned and first EV I've owned. I'll never go back to a gas vehicle. I'll certainly cross shop other brands when and if I need a new car but I'd certainly buy another one without hesitation.

I really wanted at least the AWD version but it was hard to justify the price at this stage in our life. I AM a stay-at-home-dad after all 😆 the TH-cam stuff is growing but, not quite there yet! And if you get some time I'd love to know the little gripes you speak of.

I thought I saw the engineering explained guy talk about LFPs and how it actually worked very well at a low state of charge... Either way they're very reliable batteries and we're still loving ours!
Yep. I had the same experience. I tested a lot of EVs before I tested the Model 3. It just blew the others away. Once I'd driven it, the choice was obvious. I got my Highland RWD in June this year. Here in the UK, we pay a lot more for our cars sadly. But, it still represents great value compared to other vehicles, especially ICE cars like the BMW 3 Series. Mine was just over £40k, or $55k for the base RWD with blue metallic (i.e. not the long range RWD - Tesla don't even sell that in the UK). I lease it, and do get tax breaks on the lease, which makes it way way more affordable. I am paying around 1.4p per mile to drive it (less than 2 cents), thanks to cheap overnight charging at home (7p/kWh, or 9.4 cents). That works out as less than 10% of what I was paying to run my previous gasoline BMW thanks to insane UK gas prices of about $6.85 per US gallon.
Yes same here. The only time I find it a nuisance is when I go drive our ice vehicle for a little while then I come back to it. got mine march 23 after 6 months mileage is 1100 miles. practically brand new. tip: dont use rain-x or any other coating on your windshield. your wipers will stutter. you can use any coating on the windows but not the windshield.also tesla recommends to charge your lfp battery to 100% every week to calibrate the battery monitoring system. unlike the lithium ions which can only be charged to 80%.
Are you still loving yours? What color did you get? Good call on the Rain-X... I had that experience on my previous vehicle. We bought some onr which we Will use to wash the vehicle and maybe I'll get some type of coating or wax as it rains a lot around here.
@@TheSAHDLife mine is stealth gray same as yours but i put in a lot of carbon fiber on the door handles, cameras, spoiler, dashboard that is fabric is now topped with carbon fiber, my steering wheel cover is carbon fiber, the steering wheel buttons have carbon fiber stickers, the console box is carbon fiber covered too. for the coating i use cerakote ceramic sealant. so easy to apply takes 15 minutes to apply and wipe. but i watch project farm and the best is adams but turtle wax hybrid solutions is good which i also used before on my previous car. here is the link to project farm comparative testing of ceramic sealants from 8$ to 200$ - th-cam.com/video/O2lrXVV9kWU/w-d-xo.html
@@rcdizo Sounds like you've tricked yours out nicely! Slick. Good cal with the ceramic seal... we just bought some ONR to wash it but now I'm going to look for wax/seal and all the accessories to keep it shiny over time. We got the all weather mats and are thinking about mud flaps for the rear. Our one came with front ones. Did you get the flaps?
@@TheSAHDLife nope no flaps no weather mats. nothing else. the charging cable i bought that was mailed to me.
I've been shopping for cars for over 8 months. Wanted to buy a hyundai elantra hybrid but dealers kept trying to play games with me. So I just ordered a Model 3 lease,328 a month. easy.
I love how you don't play games at the Tesla dealership. And $300 a month... jeez, that's what you'll save on gas! That's exciting. Enjoy it 👊
320k everything original except tires and control arms. Model 3 long range 2019
Wow! 300k+? Amazing. How are you able to tell that the control arms were ready to go?
This might seem like a stupid question but is the performance and power just as strong as it was in the beginning? I have this weird fear that it's going to get weaker over time.
do fsd video
Oh yeah good idea!!
Std rwd is discontinued
I just saw that! The LFP battery's from China are getting cut off eh? That's a bummer. They are great.
Nice
Thanks budday! 👊
“This is what all cars should be”
No thank you, I like my physical gauge cluster
Yeah word. I just meant the overall level of refinement and thoughtfulness. This car is definitely not for everybody, but I'm loving it and haven't missed any clusters that much yet.
Why would I want a screen in the back for the kids? This is not a plus, this is a big minus. Kids have too much screen time as is. Even if they're not allowed to look now I have to hear their complaints about it. Do car reviewers not have kids?
Interesting take. We love having it back there. It doesn't have to be on. Our kids don't always use it but it's nice for those long trips or time we spend waiting around in the car which is often for us. It IS interesting there is no option NOT to have it.
Well this car is no longer available on the Tesla website
Wow really? Is the long-range version or just the RWD?
@@TheSAHDLife actually it’s back they just have taken it out for a few days
1.99% is gone now tho lol
@@antoniosaavedra1097 lol! Yeah I just checked and it's the same for me, crazy. The new Model Y is coming out soon and I imagine the older models will have big price drops in the coming months. Hopefully anyway as they are still great vehicles.

Nice! Love it. I can't wait to shine 'er up and watch that water bead off.
Should have spent the extra 5k $ for the LR dual motor . Heat / cool the battery ,
Better handling on snow , water etc
Oh I wanted the awd SO bad BUT, here in BC the dual motor one didn't qualify for some rebates and at the time cost $15,000 more than the standard range LFP we got. If it was $5,000 we would have absolutely got it... but 15k was just too much you know?
