I have to say Im a bit dissapointed you didn't talk about how he saw Mr.2 as a true friend, and unlike Buggy, he was deeply shaken by his sacrifice. Which lead to how he was still thinking about that when he helped Luffy free Ace, even asking Luffy if he would "laugh at him for trying to honor his friend's last wish" or something like that. I actually think it was that part of Galdino's character that gets overlooked a lot.
I always found Mr 3 to be annoying through Little Garden and Alabasta but it changed in Impel Down. He actually helped Luffy and then we went to see what Buggy was doing with all of the people he got while he was in Impel Down

Galdino somehow managed to slip under Sengoku's nose and posed as an executioner until Luffy reached to the top to save Ace. And it didn't even trigger Sengoku's Observation Haki or gut instinct at all.
I'm still not entirely sure Sengoku actually wanted Ace to die, especially not in front of his friend Garp. I think he had a duty to follow orders, but he could have ignored his observation haki which is why he resigned not long after Marineford.

Galdino's mindset of planning out each and every move to achieve victory perfectly juxtaposes Luffy and the giants' ideologies of living based on instinct. As the fight carries on, Luffy continues to improvise as new obstacles come up, whereas Galdino continues to regress to more and more simple, desperate strategies.
This is an amazing analysis of the fight, I didn’t even consider that aspect even though it has a similar structure to the Don Krieg fight in that regard.
Mr 3 got a video before Moria did It's interesting you mentioned Katakuri not getting a full character arc, because I've been rewatching Whole Cake Island and the more I think about it, the more it seems like he's not actually that loyal to Big Mom and secretly *wants* Luffy to defeat her. It would make a lot of narrative sense for the Big Mom Pirates to show up on Elbaf considering Big Mom's history with the place. And by all rights, the conflict between her and Luffy was never actually resolved. All the character development Katakuri received during his fight seems to point towards him returning and doing the right thing for his beloved brothers and sisters.
Mr 3 defeating Dory and Broggy is arguably the most interesting case of power disparity in the whole story. As we've seen recently, the two Giant Captains are capable of clashing with the Five Elders, yet somehow Mr. 3 was able to restrain both (granted, one was wounded and injured) with absolute ease. Despite being so utterly physically weak that a few basic punches from Luffy easily defeats him. Despite how ludicrously weak he is, he's able to just casually restrain two absolute monsters with zero difficulty. Even if you apply the retroactive logic and say the two Giants should have Haki... well... nothing changes. Armament would harden and let them hit harder... but liquid Wax doesn't really care if you hit it because its formless. The offensive and defensive properties of Haki don't matter because its the equivalent of getting splashed with paint. Eventually, so many litres of wax gets piled on that moving becomes impossible. Its like burying a bodybuilder up to his neck in wet sand on the beach - it doesn't matter how strong they physically are, they can't move in any way to leverage that strength. Theoretically, if not stopped, Mr. 3 can dump on so much infinite wax that he could just restrain ANYBODY, in terms of physical strength. Even Big Mom, Kaido and Garp, etc. If he can trap two Giant Captains, no amount of physical strength matters. The only thing that'd save a person at that point is outside interference or a Devil Fruit (e.g. Kaido being able to breathe fire) This, combined with the surprising versatility of the wax sculptures, likely implies the Wax fruit is surprisingly WAY more useful than it initially appears and Mr. 3 is an unexpectedly proficient user of it. There is also an argument to be made that Haki wasnt as fleshed out as it is now so they probably werent supposed to have Haki back then but then again you "could" say its because of their exhaustion.

Coincidentally, as this video was premiering news broke that David Dastmalchian(Jack Delroy in "Late Night With the Devil" and Polka-Dot Man in "The Suicide Squad") will be playing Galdino (Mr. 3) in Season 2 of the One Piece Live Action.
Galdino is one of my favourite minor characters for all he did in the Paramount arc and how much he changed. He actually approaches being a fourth wall character in some ways speaking what the audience is thinking.
Consider that when he got into his wax mech on Little Garden, it wasn't punch-fighting that ultimately defeated him and forced him to abandon the power armor - he got outsmarted by Usopp using the most obvious weakness of wax.
What I like about his powers is they are very flexible, his utility is very high. I also love him in Impel Down because him and Buggy fill a very important role besides helping with the jail break. They add comedy to one of the darkest arcs in the series. I think it'll be interesting to see how he performs on Buggy's crew as a strategist now that he's been humbled and learned. Say what you will, but the man is very smart, his ego was just to big.
I've always loved Galdino, and his continued presence makes me very happy. Him constantly seeing through Buggy and his tricks then being baffled how well they work was one of my favorite recurring gags through Impel Down and Summit War.
I know Bon Clay is a fan favorite Baroque Works member, but Galdino is my underrated fave. Love his dynamic with Buggy, and how clutch he came in at Marineford.
I would argue that MOST people got a much better impression of Galdino/Mr.3 thanks to his support and his dialogue during Impel Down. In a very basic shonen sense, just the interaction with Magellan helped inflate his power scaling and "cool factor", but for me, all the insight into his thought processes, and his wavering resistance to ACTUALLY support Luffy plus his slowly strengthening bond with Buggy all culminating in him actually becoming a character with established ideals and convictions, it really was a great development for him.
Perfect timing that you are doing Mr.3 / Galdino “Loan Shark” which is one of my favorite of Baroque Works members because he along with Mr.9, Mr.5, & Miss Valentine was just revealed who is going to played by in the Live Action with Mr.3 is going to be played by David Dastmalchian which is a great choice

Galdino as a villain was good. Galdino in Impel Down and Marineford was absolutely goated, made me really like his character. It's kinda amazing how he's now part of an emperor's crew.
This is odd timing because the casting choice for Mr 3 in the live action was revealed today. David Dastmalchian is confirmed to play him.(along with the casting choices for Mr 5, played by Camrus Johnson, Ms Valentine, played by Jazzera Jaslyn, and Mr 9, played by Daniel Lasker.) Personally I think they are perfect casting. Edit: For those who don't know, David is known for playing sadistic and psychotic roles in movies in The Dark Knight and his latest and first lead role, Late Night with the Devil.

Honestly my favourite character in the entire series. Amazing and versatile fruit, comes in clutch repeatedly(everyone dies without him) and his relationship with Buggy was amazing. The man who risked it all to honour Bon Clay, a man he formerly hated, by saving the brother of the man who defeated him. A little disheartened by him cowering for Crocodile again and backstabbing Buggy, but I hope he returns to come in clutch for Buggy. Gal. D. Ino will be the man who unlocks the chest containing the One Piece. Mark my words.
Galdino's Wax-Wax Fruit is the best counter against Magellan's Venom-Venom Fruit, which helped Luffy a lot in the fight at Impel Down arc. Change my mind.
There are many other DF and non-DF abilities that are a better counter. Reiju has poison immunity, she will even get a boost. Brook also has poison immunity due to being a skeleton. Mera-Mera and Magu-Magu no mi will just burn the poison and Magellan Moku-Moku no mi (Smoker) Can't see poison working on Smoke. Hie-Hie no mi (Aokiji) will just freeze Magellan with his poison. Goro-Goro no mi - poison wont affect lightning while it will just fry Magellan Pika-Pika no no mi poison doesn't affect light and lasers will hurt Magellan Wapu-Wapu no mi (Van Augur) can just teleport Magellan in water. Any ranged attacks will work well too. There are probably tons of other powers that will work better than wax.
Mr. 3 aka Galdino is one of my favourite side characters, and I love how he takes on Magellans poison hydra showing off how different DFs collide with each other.

If you're doing Kaido next, there is something i noticed after watching one of your videos about the ending of Wano. You mentionned Kaido didn't really lose the fight against Luffy, that he could have dodged that last punch if he wanted to. Kaido didn't lose to Luffy, he just gave up at the end and let himself be defeated. I didn't realise this until later, but giving up like that is like commiting suicide, which is how Kaido was introduced. Kaido's introduction and exit are both suicides, falling from a great height, except the last one succeded in killing him.

From the first 30 seconds of the video I said to myself, galdino definitly gonna end up in B tier, he literally is almost like a physical embodiment of B tier, totally sufficient in every single way while lacking any spectacularity or wholly unique essence, he is everything you need him to be without ever pulling you too close, he may have been C tier but his actions and changes and partnership with future emperor buggy in paramount war as his actual subordinate but more in practice equal willing to use buggy’s inflated importance and faux mystique in effect to further his own goals shows his competence and ambition but without having the singular defying willpower to not allow himself to be a number 2, or 3 rather I suppose, galdino is and has always wanted to be a string puller whether using his wax or other people he wants to stand behind the front line and influence a surrogate rather than go head to head himself
I’ve seen people say that Mr. 3 wasted his devil fruit even though he made an elaborate spinning candelabra and a functioning mech suit and even cloned himself.
In light of the David Dastmalchian casting, it seems like the live action showrunners also think the same way about Mr. 3 and are casting a competent actor to properly showcase the character
Really I wouldn't call his earlier faults a lack of talent that his hard work couldn't cover, it's more that he hyper focused on his mind while ignoring his heart. The best way I have to describe it is with his human sculptures. He knows in his mind that art is supposed to cause a strong emotional response, and showing someone a corpse that clearly died in agony certainly does that, but he ignores the unspoken rules that says that that's not true art. His final bit against luffy is similar. He creates these near perfect duplicates of himself that are good on a technical level, but much like AI art there's that feeling you get when you see it, that's how Luffy was able to tell. He had it in him to do the same all this time, but he was so focused on the spoken things like "Fancy and cultured means drinking this specific tea" and not enough about the unspoken, like the giant's "honor among warriors".

Galdino as a villain was good. Galdino in Impel Down and Marineford was absolutely goated, made me really like his character. It's kinda amazing how he's now part of an emperor's crew.

This is odd timing because the casting choice for Mr 3 in the live action was revealed today. David Dastmalchian is confirmed to play him.(along with the casting choices for Mr 5, played by Camrus Johnson, Ms Valentine, played by Jazzera Jaslyn, and Mr 9, played by Daniel Lasker.) Personally I think they are perfect casting. Edit: For those who don't know, David is known for playing sadistic and psychotic roles in movies in The Dark Knight and his latest and first lead role, Late Night with the Devil.

Honestly my favourite character in the entire series. Amazing and versatile fruit, comes in clutch repeatedly(everyone dies without him) and his relationship with Buggy was amazing.
The man who risked it all to honour Bon Clay, a man he formerly hated, by saving the brother of the man who defeated him. A little disheartened by him cowering for Crocodile again and backstabbing Buggy, but I hope he returns to come in clutch for Buggy.
Gal. D. Ino will be the man who unlocks the chest containing the One Piece. Mark my words.
Galdino's Wax-Wax Fruit is the best counter against Magellan's Venom-Venom Fruit, which helped Luffy a lot in the fight at Impel Down arc.

@@dragon101woof8 , Bartemolo would've also been able to steal Magellan's Devil Fruit and gave it to Reiju if he was in the Impel Down Arc with Luffy.
There are many other DF and non-DF abilities that are a better counter.
Reiju has poison immunity, she will even get a boost.
Brook also has poison immunity due to being a skeleton.
Mera-Mera and Magu-Magu no mi will just burn the poison and Magellan
Moku-Moku no mi (Smoker) Can't see poison working on Smoke.
Hie-Hie no mi (Aokiji) will just freeze Magellan with his poison.
Goro-Goro no mi - poison wont affect lightning while it will just fry Magellan
Pika-Pika no no mi poison doesn't affect light and lasers will hurt Magellan
Wapu-Wapu no mi (Van Augur) can just teleport Magellan in water.
Any ranged attacks will work well too.
There are probably tons of other powers that will work better than wax.

If you're doing Kaido next, there is something i noticed after watching one of your videos about the ending of Wano. You mentionned Kaido didn't really lose the fight against Luffy, that he could have dodged that last punch if he wanted to. Kaido didn't lose to Luffy, he just gave up at the end and let himself be defeated. I didn't realise this until later, but giving up like that is like commiting suicide, which is how Kaido was introduced. Kaido's introduction and exit are both suicides, falling from a great height, except the last one succeded in killing him.

From the first 30 seconds of the video I said to myself, galdino definitly gonna end up in B tier, he literally is almost like a physical embodiment of B tier, totally sufficient in every single way while lacking any spectacularity or wholly unique essence, he is everything you need him to be without ever pulling you too close, he may have been C tier but his actions and changes and partnership with future emperor buggy in paramount war as his actual subordinate but more in practice equal willing to use buggy’s inflated importance and faux mystique in effect to further his own goals shows his competence and ambition but without having the singular defying willpower to not allow himself to be a number 2, or 3 rather I suppose, galdino is and has always wanted to be a string puller whether using his wax or other people he wants to stand behind the front line and influence a surrogate rather than go head to head himself

Really I wouldn't call his earlier faults a lack of talent that his hard work couldn't cover, it's more that he hyper focused on his mind while ignoring his heart.
The best way I have to describe it is with his human sculptures. He knows in his mind that art is supposed to cause a strong emotional response, and showing someone a corpse that clearly died in agony certainly does that, but he ignores the unspoken rules that says that that's not true art. His final bit against luffy is similar. He creates these near perfect duplicates of himself that are good on a technical level, but much like AI art there's that feeling you get when you see it, that's how Luffy was able to tell.
He had it in him to do the same all this time, but he was so focused on the spoken things like "Fancy and cultured means drinking this specific tea" and not enough about the unspoken, like the giant's "honor among warriors".
i watch one piece too many times to not see the value of Mr Galdino, a glorious noodle may he forever remain!~
