NGL I was legit scared for Zoro's legs when I first watched Little Garden.
I found Zoro cutting his legs off badass, and I wish that the Netflix adaptation keeps that scene in it.
He almost Shiki'd himself. I can't see Zoro jamming his swords into his legs, though. He respects swords more than that.

I have to say Im a bit dissapointed you didn't talk about how he saw Mr.2 as a true friend, and unlike Buggy, he was deeply shaken by his sacrifice. Which lead to how he was still thinking about that when he helped Luffy free Ace, even asking Luffy if he would "laugh at him for trying to honor his friend's last wish" or something like that.
I actually think it was that part of Galdino's character that gets overlooked a lot.

I always found Mr 3 to be annoying through Little Garden and Alabasta but it changed in Impel Down. He actually helped Luffy and then we went to see what Buggy was doing with all of the people he got while he was in Impel Down
Agreed, although he was somewhat threatening more than most people say he is because he captured two giants without haki
He also got out of his way to help Ace. He infiltrated the marines out of his own free will, just to free Ace.

Earl Grey is just the name of the specific blend of tea. Different brands can have their own "Earl Grey" tea. I for one am actually drinking Twinnings Earl Grey while watching this video.

Mr 3 defeating Dory and Broggy is arguably the most interesting case of power disparity in the whole story.
As we've seen recently, the two Giant Captains are capable of clashing with the Five Elders, yet somehow Mr. 3 was able to restrain both (granted, one was wounded and injured) with absolute ease. Despite being so utterly physically weak that a few basic punches from Luffy easily defeats him. Despite how ludicrously weak he is, he's able to just casually restrain two absolute monsters with zero difficulty.
Even if you apply the retroactive logic and say the two Giants should have Haki... well... nothing changes. Armament would harden and let them hit harder... but liquid Wax doesn't really care if you hit it because its formless. The offensive and defensive properties of Haki don't matter because its the equivalent of getting splashed with paint.
Eventually, so many litres of wax gets piled on that moving becomes impossible. Its like burying a bodybuilder up to his neck in wet sand on the beach - it doesn't matter how strong they physically are, they can't move in any way to leverage that strength.
Theoretically, if not stopped, Mr. 3 can dump on so much infinite wax that he could just restrain ANYBODY, in terms of physical strength. Even Big Mom, Kaido and Garp, etc. If he can trap two Giant Captains, no amount of physical strength matters. The only thing that'd save a person at that point is outside interference or a Devil Fruit (e.g. Kaido being able to breathe fire)
This, combined with the surprising versatility of the wax sculptures, likely implies the Wax fruit is surprisingly WAY more useful than it initially appears and Mr. 3 is an unexpectedly proficient user of it. It essentially lets him punch stupidly hard above his weight class. Even the wax sculpting is remarkably competent - Ms Golden Week essentially just added glorified cosmetic flair and didn't really contribute to it at all.
Just goes to show how impactful Devil Fruits are, and how One Piece functions so differently from conventional shonens. In any other story, there's no way a character as weak as Mr. 3 has any business being as successful as he ended up being.

Also dont forget that both of them were exhausted after fighting 100 years straight with close to no sleep (if any) since they fought for an hour and then had an hour downtime. There is also an argument to be made that Haki wasnt as fleshed out as it is now so they probably werent supposed to have Haki back then but then again you "could" say its because of their exhaustion.
@@cruiser332 I mean... what is Haki going to do? If you get splashed with wax, its still going to stick to you, armament coating or not. It isn't an "attack" which hurts a target in a conventional sense.
Also, exhausted or not, the point still applies - The Wax power lets Mr. 3 hit WAY above his weight class normally allows for.

Coincidentally, as this video was premiering news broke that David Dastmalchian(Jack Delroy in "Late Night With the Devil" and Polka-Dot Man in "The Suicide Squad") will be playing Galdino (Mr. 3) in Season 2 of the One Piece Live Action.
I know Bon Clay is a fan favorite Baroque Works member, but Galdino is my underrated fave.
Love his dynamic with Buggy, and how clutch he came in at Marineford.

Mr 3 is one of my favorite minor villains , simply due to how versatile he is and how important he is to the story, even without being a major character
I've always loved Galdino, and his continued presence makes me very happy. Him constantly seeing through Buggy and his tricks then being baffled how well they work was one of my favorite recurring gags through Impel Down and Summit War.
Galdino is my favorite villain. Little garden is my favorite arc. Glad to see the appreciation it deserves...

This is odd timing because the casting choice for Mr 3 in the live action was revealed today. David Dastmalchian is confirmed to play him.(along with the casting choices for Mr 5, played by Camrus Johnson, Ms Valentine, played by Jazzera Jaslyn, and Mr 9, played by Daniel Lasker.) Personally I think they are perfect casting. Edit: For those who don't know, David is known for playing sadistic and psychotic roles in movies in The Dark Knight and his latest and first lead role, Late Night with the Devil.

Really I wouldn't call his earlier faults a lack of talent that his hard work couldn't cover, it's more that he hyper focused on his mind while ignoring his heart.
The best way I have to describe it is with his human sculptures. He knows in his mind that art is supposed to cause a strong emotional response, and showing someone a corpse that clearly died in agony certainly does that, but he ignores the unspoken rules that says that that's not true art. His final bit against luffy is similar. He creates these near perfect duplicates of himself that are good on a technical level, but much like AI art there's that feeling you get when you see it, that's how Luffy was able to tell.
He had it in him to do the same all this time, but he was so focused on the spoken things like "Fancy and cultured means drinking this specific tea" and not enough about the unspoken, like the giant's "honor among warriors".
Consider that when he got into his wax mech on Little Garden, it wasn't punch-fighting that ultimately defeated him and forced him to abandon the power armor - he got outsmarted by Usopp using the most obvious weakness of wax.

The more I think about it Impel down might be my favorite arc. That arc made me love so many characters like Jimbe, Mr. 3, i already liked Buggy and Bon Clay but this arc i started seeing them completely different. These guys who were villians are now the bros its so awesome i love Impel Down.

From the first 30 seconds of the video I said to myself, galdino definitly gonna end up in B tier, he literally is almost like a physical embodiment of B tier, totally sufficient in every single way while lacking any spectacularity or wholly unique essence, he is everything you need him to be without ever pulling you too close, he may have been C tier but his actions and changes and partnership with future emperor buggy in paramount war as his actual subordinate but more in practice equal willing to use buggy’s inflated importance and faux mystique in effect to further his own goals shows his competence and ambition but without having the singular defying willpower to not allow himself to be a number 2, or 3 rather I suppose, galdino is and has always wanted to be a string puller whether using his wax or other people he wants to stand behind the front line and influence a surrogate rather than go head to head himself
The funniest part of the video I bust3d into tears over was this line describing Crocodile. "That is one proud wax daddy."

I’ve seen people say that Mr. 3 wasted his devil fruit even though he made an elaborate spinning candelabra and a functioning mech suit and even cloned himself.
Something I always found funny about Mr. 3/Galdino is that he's not as smart as he thinks he is. Which is to say, he's a fairly decent strategist, but he thinks he can manipulate people with ease, thinking he's got human behavior all figured out, which is why he ended up getting his butt kicked on Little Garden, since the Straw Hat Pirates keep defying his expectations. Really, his condescension when it comes to thinking he's got people all figured out is what makes him such a satisfying enemy to defeat, like when he thinks he has Broggy all figured out and guesses what he might be thinking, only for Broggy to be so offended by what Mr. 3/Galdino says that he momentarily breaks out of his bonds (before Mr. 5 beats him back down again). I ESPECIALLY love how he thought Zoro and Broggy were bluffing when they contemplated hacking off their own limbs just so they can escape and fight back, only to go "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!" when Zoro almost did cut off his own legs to escape.
In that respect, it makes a lot of sense why he'd get along so well with Buggy when they meet up in Impel Down, since Buggy also thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is. In fact, another thing they both have in common is thinking they need to use their wits to make up for their own lack of strength, even though they both have Devil Fruits that are incredibly powerful, if they actually bothered to actually train and utilize them properly. In Mr. 3/Galdino's case, it feels like he mostly uses his Wax Wax Fruit powers to trap or deceive people, even though when the wax hardens, it becomes as tough as steel. He could easily be an overwhelming foe, provided he doesn't fight in any overly hot climates. So yeah, it makes a lot of sense why Mr. 3/Galdino ended up joining Buggy's crew after he escaped (or not, since he gloats how he never technically joined Buggy's crew when Crocodile and Mihawk show up and beat up Buggy).
That's another thing about Mr. 3/Galdino, he clearly prioritizes self-preservation above everything, and is a bit of a cowardly cad in general, though it is rather touching to see that he tried to save Ace during the Marineford arc, simply because Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, a character who he's otherwise shown nothing but contempt and annoyance for, sacrificed himself so that all the Impel Down prisoners could escape and Luffy could save Ace. It shows he does have some moral code, even if it's just to pay back a debt to someone (though he DID call Mr. 2 a friend in this instance, if I recall correctly, so there's that). I also like that Mr. 3/Galdino is a bit of wild card in this regard, not just in this case, but how he somehow not only survived getting dried up and eaten by a Bananagator, but that Sanji just so happened to find him while looking for the key to unlock everyone before Rain Dinners floods, and even though Mr. 3/Galdino is doesn't want to help the Straw Hat Crew, once Usopp points out that he could easily use his wax powers to make a makeshift key and unlock the cage, BOOM, the Straw Hat Pirates make a miraculous escape, to the point where it didn't even matter that the key Crocodile left them was a fake key just to mess with them.
All-in-all, Mr. 3/Galdino is a good example of how seemingly one-off villains can end up being really useful in the long term, so perhaps we can't get TOO mad at Oda for not killing off characters most of the time.

As an Englishman I’m compelled to point out that Twinings is a brand of tea, Earl Grey is a type… not information that anyone needs to know.
I started this video thinking galdino would be B tier. i think when galdino used his powers to make his suit was funny and that he was on the losing end and he knew it. it was enjoyable seeing crocodile verbally defile him on alabasta, but i didnt realize crocodiles comment in impel down. i definately have more appreciation for this character even when i already did.
I'm calling it for the bingo card. Franky drinks some of his special tea in the final arc!
His Art thing is Terrifying and his Awakening will be, hopefully, cool as hell

Foxxy the Silver Fox! I really think this character is underrated. He’s silly, he’s ridiculous, he’s got less than half of Bellamy’s bounty, and his arc as a villain comes right after Enel Himself. But it’s BECAUSE Long Ring Long Land is so goofy and Foxxy never poses such a serious threat that there’s such merit to him. He provides the much needed contrast for the Darkness that is W7-Enies Lobby. In LRLL, Luffy is able to defend and keep his crew intact, only to immediately be overwhelmed by Aokiji, who pretty much bluntly says that for the Strawhats, up until that point, it’s all been fun and games, but now they are about to enter the real trial by fire, and Aokiji confidently predicts that the crew will splinter. We needed Foxxy, because we needed something to let our guards down.
Also, in defense of Foxxy himself - the dude actually *does* have hands. Like, he might not be able to beat *Luffy* in a boxing match but the dude was a fifteen year boxing champion or something before resorting to piracy. He actually clashed with Gum Gum Gatling even if he didn't do particularly well in the clash, he took multiple hits from Luffy and stood up. People give the dude shit for being tricksy and underhanded but he actually *does* know how to scrap.
The fact that he had a huge ship, crew of like 500 people, a massive variety of traps and gadgets, and had been undefeated in Davy Back Fights (sure, yeah, he almost certainly cheated but we love ourselves a good scoundrel.) really does actually paint a picture of Foxxy's competence. Had he not run headfirst into Luffy he would have probably continued to expand his crew and gone about his merry way.
Unironically, Galdino might be the smartest person in cross guild.
You hated him in Alabasta, and by the end of Marineford he is friends for life. He is written so well. I can't wait to see his role in the final battle.
Also Mr 3 made a key to free Luffy and other crew members. Managed to counter crocodiles almost perfect plan! A big help from destiny Luffy had there there
