i tried going bow. and i like it. my issue is the aim with the camera and stuff. i always aim my bow the way i am running. and thats annoying if i have to turn around and aim at monsters who is chasing me, lol.
To any that are confused. Start the game up, avoid defender armor, play the game, everything he said in the video will answer questions you’ll come up with when playing. Great game, easy to get into, there’s a lot of things to do and it all comes together, good luck on your hunts, Hunters

I got the game yesterday and thought the defender armor looked cool, im at rotten vale now and just discovered why this game is such a breeze. I hate how they non-chalantly put it at the character creation and dont warn you that this is OP armor and will ruin the difficulty for you
@@dennisellerkamp9489 I started the game awhile back but the exact same thing happend to me, I played a decent chunk of the game in defender because it looked good but started getting suspicious when no armor was beating it

@@jackmelbostad2734 I highly recommend the game but big warning is it is a time eater. If it's your first Monster Hunter game there's of course the learning curve which may take some time to catch on to thanks to how much new information you'll be given, it's easy to lose track of some useful mechanics. Even so, there's still a very large community of players who will more than likely have the advice you need. Just watch out for the ones who try to tell you you're playing the game wrong. I wouldn't say there's a right way to play until end game monsters that require specific builds to make any leeway but they aren't part of the main story so it's usally not an issue unless you choose to pursue them. Then the gameplay itself is really nice, with the need to not only understand your weapon but also the monster you're hunting in order to succeed. Early on it won't be as important but down the line stronger monsters can take 40 minutes to hunt if you're not using the right elements or hitting the right spots. Either way the best part of the game is overcoming challenging monsters that were constantly beating you and getting to the point where you farm their gear. If possible get a friend to join you because it just makes the game all the more enjoyable. Story missions can be a pain to coop because for most the game you have to both enter, watch a cutscene to unlock coop, then leave to start it together, but that's only for story/important missions. If not though it's very possible to solo most of the game with some exceptions and there's an SOS feature that makes your hunt free for anyone to join, no guarantee someone will but it's an option.
Just started this game yesterday. At first I thought I was taking no damage because it was so early into the game. 2 or 3 more missions and I checked the stats on the Defender armour lol. Strange move to basically give you god mode at the start of the base game Anywho, some helpful tips and advice here, thanks for the video!
My understanding is that armor will not be sufficient at the end of the game. However it was added with DLC, and many people recommend not using it your first time playing.
This is gonna be my first MH experience... picked it up from Steam this sale. Thanks for the heads up about the defender gear! Weird they didn't lock it for a 1st playthrough. Game looks fun.
I just bought this game. I played the beginning but with a library game however wanted my own so I bought it. I was so overwhelmed the fist time even more so once I realized it was online. I didn’t know it was online at first and I hardly ever play online. I loved monster hunter as a kid so I’m giving it another go

I actually decided to not get the game based on this video. I was looking for a good crafting system but I just don't think any current MMORPGs are what I want. I'll just stick with solo games. Would love a solo game with a great crafting system. Will have to look into it. There's a lot out there (many I own) like Subnautica or survival games that have decent crafting systems... but I want like classic WOW crafting feel. New World was actually fairly decent. It's just the game itself and economy is dumb. When the game first game out crafting was important. When everyone is max level it just turns to a cash sink for gambling for optimized gear. I want that early feel. I want collecting resources to matter. I want an interesting and intuitive crafting system. Far Cry Primal is the closest I've found to being kind of what I want -- but I want an expanded version of that. I feel Monster Hunter comes really close to what I want in ways but it's an MMORPG that has had way too many updates over the years. Just too much fluff. I want simplicity. Maybe I just need to keep an eye out on new open world survivor games.
I’m finally getting into this game. It took a few tries but switching languages helped get through the river of dialogue in early game. Im playing solo and im only rank 8 so I hope when I face serious challenges down the line there will still be people on to help out lol thanks for the guide man!
I hated greatsword at first bc it's slow, but after i see the damage, basically hit like a truck, now i got used to the moveset, now I'm used to dodging enemy attack and ended up loving the weapon
At first they looked to big and heavy for my style, but the defenders had curves that I really don’t mind.. great weapon to use, I just started playing Monster Hunter and loving it 😎
I wish there was a good quality big ass video explaining and SHOWING the various mechanics of MHW similar to what gaijin hunter did for MHR. Capcom's tutorials are Dreadful and these games have so many mechanics and it's so good when you actually understand what's going on!
Nice tips. Just started playing and picked up the insect glaive. Hmm seems like its not a beginner weapon but Im liking it so far. Though I might switch to the dual blades cause it looks cool too and im a big fan of hack and slash games and like fast weapons.
I bought this game from a pawn shop for 6 dollars and I plan to only play the single player story. I don't play online games only single player. It's just the base game and doesn't include the dlc ,but I want to enjoy it. So thank you for giving us some insight into this game.
If any new players are late to the party like me, capturing monsters has 3 conditions that need to all be active, but you can do it in any order. The monster needs to be at critical health (skull icon), hit with tranq gas twice, and physically touching a trap. The tutorial says you need to tranq the head but this is not true in practice. Just walk your hitbox into the monster and tranq any part of its body. Another trapping issue is not every monster has a lair that is stable to trap on, for example, barroth (mud), jyuratodus (water), and deviljho in the forest (vines). In situations like these, put the trap down anywhere you can nearby, tranq the monster then shoot a slinger at it to lure it to charge over the trap. For elite monsters with fast hp regen, you may need to attack them a few times to get them back to critical health once trapped. Don't worry, the game will capture them as soon as you lower their health
Maybe next time, better match shown content with visual content. Sometimes i was very confused what i am looking at while you were talking about other or similar stuff. Confusion is not intended by watching a guide 😅
I have 10 hours in the game and it just won't click. It's one of the most stressful confusing games I've ever played. And I've done level 1 runs off every Souls game (though very different type of games)
I've dropped this game countless of times in the past due to how overwhelming everything was. Then I went back to try again last week and everything just clicked, I immediately got hooked, the combat is amazing, the world is expansive and is very immersive, I might just be the next monster hunter fan!
just started this game after beating rise sunbreak...world feels as better and much more detailed game! but yea,i agree,better not use defender stuff...
I went into the training center and somewhat got the controls for the Charge Blade. I am still trying to figure out what sparks the shield with a subtle red glow. Only then, when I, "charge the blade" portion, is when the blade expells elemental sparks with regular attacks. When I started playing monster hunter, I wanted to start with the sword and shield, but I find the charge blade to be an interesting weapon in any role playing game.
Was completely lost by 2 minutes in. Not sure how much of a beginner guide this is. At least, from the perspective of someone who hasn't played at all.
Hi man I just started a new character and I selected leather armour, but when I got into the game and looked in my equipment box the defender gear was there too. I don't want it there, is there some way I can remove it? I'm pretty sure I didn't select it in character creation

That's still possible if you're far enough in the game depending on the weapon you wanna view :) If you've not progressed far enough, then it won't be visible
in this game compare to rise,event costumes have time limit to get tickets for those? I beat Rise Sunbreak,and just started World,and geez W. seems more interesting and looks so beauty.Also story better and progression(also can play story mission with someone unlike rise)! And yeah...better not use defender stuff if play first time,i used this set in rise,only coz already beat base game on Switch,and wanted faster progress to G rank on PC )
I've been playing through the first 6 hours with a defender 2 longsword cause it did waaay more damage and generally looked cooler 😭😭 However I got the wyvern longsword bc it looks better. Got the real experience 6 hours later lmao. Avoided the armor though since 50 defence seemed way too overturned compared to the highest grade gear I have available right now, so I figured its for DLC people.

I love SoulsBorne & I know this isn’t that but I recently read about how popular monster hunter is in Japan! So hey that gotta be saying something 😃 thanks for the video
This game is not that old and graphics are still better than most latest games like cyber junk, star wars, ff16 , rise(dog sh*t), Hogwarts etc....., Worth even after 5 years. I can come back to back this game anytime...

Which genius decided it was a good idea to include super-over-powered gear as an "option"? It ruins the entire game. Like giving you 2 000 000 runes at the beginning of Elden Ring. It ruins the entire game loop, and thus the game experience. Is it still like this, or can you opt out of the Defender gear altogether?
I just started the game but all I'm doing is button mashing hope it gets better. Only bought it cause it's 20 bucks and so many people claim it's "One of the best games I've ever played" but right now 2 hours in I'm not seeing it should have just bought Pokemon Arceus

I dont have to use a token to change my apperance and i dont have mods? Idk if this is just a recent update but when i go into my room at the base and go to my item box it allows me to change it there

This is my first monster hunter and I can say I've never felt more out of the loop than my first 3 or so hours.
Same, all ive figured out so far is dual swords go brrrr and kill everything.

As a mhw vet I would say test out all the weps befor useing them in a quest to see what one suites your playstyle as some weps are very confusing

Something I discovered just today, after playing since the original MHW release... If you ride an aptonoth, once in a while, they will dig up loot.

Which genius decided it was a good idea to include super-over-powered gear as an "option"? It ruins the entire game. Like giving you 2 000 000 runes at the beginning of Elden Ring. It ruins the entire game loop, and thus the game experience. Is it still like this, or can you opt out of the Defender gear altogether?
Man just finished the main game, so confused since I only use defender set, other stuff seems weaker, now I know why LOL
I just started the game but all I'm doing is button mashing hope it gets better. Only bought it cause it's 20 bucks and so many people claim it's "One of the best games I've ever played" but right now 2 hours in I'm not seeing it should have just bought Pokemon Arceus

@@TheHunterProject the guardian armour I see it's higher than the other starter armour sets should I not be using it but I understand I might have to put alot more hours into it to appreciate it but I guess my expectations were just really high it's my first MH game
@@konflicted1729 Yeah try avoid using the guardian/defender sets :) It will make the game harder and more enjoyable.

I dont have to use a token to change my apperance and i dont have mods? Idk if this is just a recent update but when i go into my room at the base and go to my item box it allows me to change it there
That is given to us, yes. You’ll need a token to change the physical appearance of your character. He mentions this at the start of the video
@mordekat I can go and change it whenever I want, I just step to the storage box in my hunter room, and I can change it
@mordekat pretty sure it allows me to go and change it all. The only thing I can think of is maybe it doesn't let me change genders without a token
