I rode an 82 750 Virago as my daily driver in AZ summers back in 98. Perfect condition, flame paint with matching helmet😂. We used to grocery shop with it. I mean it was my car. Nice leather bags. Not 1 problem - ever. Never really loved the way it sounded but always loved the way she rode. All i have left is pictures
I'm a fan of the 90s virago, pull back bars etc.. the 80s always had that starter issue, the cured that in mid 90s... standard street cruiser, they are a good looking bike..
Man, this bike arrived and started first crack. All the rubber on this bike was supple and from performing my due diligence before opening her up every bit of rubber is still soft. I installed better bulbs in the dash and that's it. Once I knocked off the residue from sitting around for months, she up and pulls with a vengeance. Thanks to a short riding season back east, you can count on the east coast to be a trove of these well loved machines. In California we ride year round and bike are abused. I wouldn't buy a bike from California unless it was very, very low miles.
Super happy, I've got a spot cleared away in the garage. Man, I wanted the 850 triple, Im still young so perhaps one day. This is a rider not something that's going to sit in my garage. I live right off the Pacifica Coast Highway. Man, pumped!
My very first bike was a 1983 Virago XV500 I bought new still in the crate for $1500 USD in 1986. I traded up to a used 1982 XV750 in 1991 and sold it still running great in 2001. It was the exact same color as this one but had a custom exhaust. Those black mirrors are not stock. Got back into riding with a Kawasaki 900 Vulcan Custom last year.
I still own a 1996 Virago xv750 that i bought new. less than 14k miles. Its cherry. Its tucked away in a garage like its always been but I havent ridden it in 4 years or so, other than periodic starts and rides around to keep it in running order. It's incredible to me as I study this 1982 model, how much of the pieces and parts are THE SAME as mine. Yamaha was just printing money selling these bikes, making only superficial changes to them over the many years this model ran.
Purchased new in 1981 an exact but in black. Though I sort of recall the mirrors were chrome and round. Eventually replaced the stock exhaust with slash cut pair, rejet carbs. Simple and super reliable.

I still own it, 82' XV750 SE. It's called 'Special' instead Virago. The No.1 choice of the people, for converting into cafe racer and bobber.

New tires Commando 2 Michelins. Low shock pressure and she handles great, no swing-arm flex and again no rotten rubber a true find.
Tengo una igual del 81, no ha sido encendida desde hace 10 años, quisiera restaurarla y escuchar su motor
Even the 850 made that sound on start up. It's not even an issue. .

Damn, that thing is a straight up time machine.

Monoshock, shaft drive. These are great bikes
A real nice profile to this bike.
1980 to 1983 was a cool vintage for Yamaha.
Vision, Seca. Virago
I rode a 1981 XV920 RH for ten years. Smooth, enclosed chain drive and yes the starter wS the issue
the best compromise between the 650 twin and the 850 triple.
origins of the MT07
Starter ?
P.S. You Sir are one of the few that keep riding fun on old and oldish bikes and I say thank you.
