Pete the spring is an ink agitator, it is used to keep the ink mixed so you get an even colour all the way through, I collect a load of fountain pens and know some things to do with them but nothing like BRIAN goulet from the goulet pen company

I like that it's seethrough. Also fitting the cap on the other end is important to me, gives it weight and makes it longer, feels even nicer in the hand. Rood (pronounced rote) is Dutch for red and Germany being right next door, "rot" most likely sounds the same.

PENBBS is a handmade Chinese pen of great quality. They have a lovely range of pens in some amazing finishes, I have two of them and have never had any problems with either of them.
As you write you create a static charge. Having a converter with an agitator helps to get break up the surface tension so the ink does not cling to the top of the converter.
I gotta give them respect for sending more stuff after you being so honest about the super expensive pen from before. I think for those of us who just enjoy drawing with different things, $600 pens are totally beside the point. You weren't a turd about it, just honest. And I think it's cool that they must have understood that 👍 also as always, great video :)
In regards to the spring inside the converter, every piston converter I've ever owned has had some kind of agitator inside the converter, to keep the ink from clotting inside the pen.
You can fill the whole barrel of all penbbs pens with ink to make them eyedroppers. They are all acrylic apart from one model. That is a torpedo shape, not quite a cigar (cigar has straight sides) I'm going to send you one of my custom stacked nibs, they are recreations of the sailor nagahara emperor nibs. Very fun for sketching since they can give you thin lines. Broad lines, and quadruple broad lines. The spring is an agitator that keeps the ink free, otherwise it can get stuck in the converter due to surface tension.

It’s probably already been mentioned, although if it has I can’t see the comment, but I believe the moving part in the reservoir is an agitator meant to keep the ink flowing smoothly and prevent it from clogging.
On dip pens- I work with a tachibana G pen, i find that as long as you're gentle with it it never drips, i only end up with drips when I get hasty. try unloading it with ink by tapping it on the side to get the drops out instead of touching it to the side directly. this will also make the ink dry less quickly on the pen. but yeah you always have to go from upper left to lower right to avoid smudging, although your particular art style makes that nearly impossible, I think.

I just ordered a purple demonstrator pen and oxblood ink. Not gonna lie I had to TH-cam what the heck a demonstrator pen even was. Like is it an actual working pen or was I about to buy some kind of display thing.🤔 Hope it works as good as this pen!
A demonstrator pen started out as a pen to show people how the fountain pen worked, apparently consumers like the pen because it showed the ink being used (if I got that history part of it right). What brand of pen did you get? I think you'll like the oxblood ink. Was that the pen coming from China?

@@parkerirby3939 you generally shouldn't mix inks unless you've tested them first 'cause the inks might react and form solids that can clog your pen.
Makes sense. I’ve found sparkle ink and fine points don’t show the effect very well. In my experience anyway.
