I'm just starting in the fountain pen world, and I'm consuming a lot of information from brands, usage , etc, and from what I've learned, I think penbbs is a very interesting brand (lots of innovation and improvements). This pen seems like a complete package, really difficult to ignore. Also, I like the way that penbbs has its own design language, not trying to look like other brands.
Penbbs is the most innovative Chinese pen company in my humble opinion. They keep designing new pens that are not close copies of other pens. Their galaxy blue acrylic is simply stunning. They truly have a winner with the 495. Thanks for the great reviews. Bless you for what you do.
Always enjoy your videos. I'd forgotten about the Tiger pen. On the 495 the piston can be removed without tools, it comes out of barrel when section is removed by turning blind cap all the way. Using a wrench to remove the red bit is not needed & not recommended by PenBBS. I too love the 495, another winner from PenBBS.
Thanks for correcting that. I looked back at that, and I’m thinking I got that confused with a few of the pens I’d just finished cleaning. I may need to post a correction about that before somebody goes wrenching on a pen.
I've been using fountain pens as my primary pen at work for a little over a year and love the capacity that a piston offers. Your reviews have been very helpful in my searches for good pens.

I've heard a lot of compliments on PenBBS, and finally got a 456 with fine nib, that was impressive but relatively expensive. I was impressed by your review of the 495, which you say is comparable in price to the ECO, which is less expensive than the 456. Your review suggests that the performance of the 495 is comparable to the 456, and that would be quite an achievement, so I'd like to see for myself. Most grateful for your inspiring content of good pens at affordable prices.

Great looking pens! I don't own any penbbs pens yet, but their innovation and choice of demonstrators is really great. I LOVE seeing the ink sloshing! And demonstrators just seem to come alive differently with whatever ink they're filled with.
I like that the section can disassemble so I could still syringe-fill or clean it if I wanted to. I'd probably use my TWSBI Eco more if I could fill it from anything but a bottle.

I'm one of the apparently few avid fans of the 309 in spite of the piston stickiness, in large part because it posted better than other PenBBS pens aside from the 456 and 352, so I'm glad to see that this model posts well. I just wish they had a different-colored piston unit to use in pens where the red clashed badly with the acrylic color. (And I recently bought that same CH 92. It's superb.)
I would love to get this pen. I like the styling and the size of this pen. Piston fillers are very interesting. I really like the ease of cleaning the piston. Great review, James.

I'm a sucker for demonstrators (and piston fillers). I have several Wing Sung's and Jinhao's in my collection (from the PRC), as well as several TWSBI's from Taiwan, but have not yet to acquired a pen from PenBBS... I'd love to give this one a try. Keep up the great work, James!
Great looking pen! Nice that they got the 309 piston issue apparently solved. I have 2 PenBBS pens (350 with their legendary fine Waverly type nib, and a 308 with the more normal grind medium) that have been great writers. Length of the grip section doesn't matter to me. Use a vintage pen, they are generally quite small, but are still quite ergonomic. Hope you have a great day and week! God bless, James!
I don’t own a PENBBS in my collection. I have a number of excellent Chinese pens, many bought after watching your reviews James. The 495 looks an attractive pen and appears to have excellent nibs.
I really enjoy your reviews and find them down to earth. As a senior I find it great that there are really good pens out there that I can enjoy and not spend a lot of money on. I have been inspired by watching your videos to return to using fountain pens again. I have not yet tried PenBBS pens but hope to in the future. I would like to see reviews of permanent inks . Thanks for taking the time share your love of fountain pens.

Demonstrator pens are awesome. People say Parker have created this concept to show buyers how its pens work... I do not know for sure... but I know they are incredible beautiful and cool. I love your reviews.
This pen looks fun. Love the red and clear look. You are younger than me but/and your hand writing looks exactly like the print chart above my first grade chalk board. Something I NEVER accomplished.

I was penabled by a PenBBS abt 2 years ago. Since then I’ve gone down the fountain pen rabbit hole in a big way. They make me so happy.
Before I buy any pen I always check out your channel. I appreciate how you review the less expensive pens for those on a budget.

PenBBS really knows how to make demonstrators, I love when the nib is visible through the cap.

Good that the grip secrion can be unscrewed. I water damaged my Asvine P36 and it was a mess thereafter 😢.
I usually don't pay attention to completely clear demonstrator but that red piston definitely gives it a nice touch!
