  • An easy to follow video on how to program a remote key fob for a 1996 - 1999 Suburban.
    More free keyless entry programming instructions available at www.ProgramYourRemote.com/
    1. Locate Data Link Port. It is located under dash on drivers side. Be sure you know which pins are 8 and 4.
    2. Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 8 and 4. Connect 8 to 4 with a suitable jumper wire ( leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming procedure). Make sure you know which terminals are 8 and 4. The vehicle will respond by locking and unlocking the doors to signify entering of programming mode.
    3. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the first remote to be programmed and after about 15 seconds, the vehicle will respond by locking and unlocking the doors. Release buttons on remote.
    4. Within one minute, repeat step 3 on the remaining remotes to be programmed.
    5. Remove jumper wire applied to OBDII port.

    I just bought a 1996 Suburban without any remotes. i will buy new remotes to reprogram but there are 2 buttons(like in this vdo) and 4 buttons.
    Which one should i buy?

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the 1996 Suburban actually used a 3 button fob from the factory but the 2 button and 4 button can work as well as long as they have the correct FCC ID. Also, if you have never had remotes for the vehicle you should check to see if it has the factory remote option - not all did in 1996.

    • @PYR-Auto

      Are you re-programming your original after the new one? All the remotes you have for the vehicle need to be programmed during the procedure - even existing remotes. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat step 3 for each remote after the first remote is programmed.

      I understand that the Tahoes, Yukon’s and Suburbans use a 3 button remote but it’s still the same exact procedure. Only the lock and unlock button are used in the programming procedure. Each button isn’t being programmed individually, the whole remote programs are the same time.
