In the grim darkness of 20th century there is only war. No but seriously, Jesus Christ, look at this: - Turn 457, 1915AD, 225 pops ("225 milion people") - Turn 1010, 1961 AD, 161 pops ("161 milion people") This game was SUCH SLAUGHTER for people living in this world that after FIVE HUNDRED TURNS there is 64 LESS pops than before, despite constant demographic explosion and new people being born at mass rate all this time... - Washington in 1961 AD has smaller population than Washington in 523BC, 2500 years earlier - I actually tried to count how many pops die from war in 1914-1961 period and I gave up after 300 pops. Let's assume it's 300. 300. 300 pops killed from city nuking, taking and starving. Among only 8 cities. The worst slaughterhouse I have ever seen in civ5. 300 milions people killed in 40 years; I tried to estimate how much % of all people that lived in this period died in War, but realized it's pointless because we don't know how many died from natural reasons and how many births were. So, you may choose your lore: either 60 or 300 milions people were killed.
Holy shit, that was intense. Even with the americans dominating the whole south, somehow the other three managed to fight them back until it was a perfect stalemate between the four, at which point Italy’s and Germany’s combined efforts took down America, leaving themselves weakened enough to be overtaken by the french. Beautiful game.
One of the most exciting and gut-wrenching battles i've ever watched! The SOLE difference in this battle was the last second fail in the siege of Paris by the Germans! Crazy match!
Absolutely intense. In other AI battles it usually ended up with one guy snowballing and winning, but this was so...even. Everyone almost had their capital captured at some point, some then reclaimed them
One of the best ones yet. The winner didn't become apparent until very late, and more than once I thought a civ would have it in the bag, only for them to lose a war badly a few minutes later. Also, did I miss a moment, or did Paris manage to never fall?
It was a crazy ride, the last cities to fall were Washington, Germany and Beijing, Italy. The play of the game for me was the french killsteal on moscow.
Spoiler: NUKES EVERYWHERE America had such an advantage. I never thought they were going to fall to Italy. The biggest upset was when France took Berlin, they had a few surprise captures like when they took Moscow the first time. I did not think they were going to end up with it, sure they didn't hold it long, but they still took it first. In the end, France, of all the civs yo win, it was France... I was on the edge of my seat with this one, fantastic job AIBattle
Ah WW2. I'll remember that beautiful pincer move from France, when they managed to circle the Italian capital, Beijing, by taking Washington and Tokyo first. Those were the good old days.
Jesus, here I thought America was going to win but then Rome comes in as the underdog and fucking breaks them and that gives France time to recover and pull off a surprise win, this was a great match.
The Roman Praetorian, The French Legionnaire and the German Sturmtruppen face each other. "Ah, it seems we're destined to do this forever, yes?" says the Roman to his Gallic foe. "Right, you know the rules, he kills me then you kill him". "And make sure he doesn't come back this time, he's nastier every time he does"
Honestly wasn’t expecting France to pull it out considering how all their tiles had been burning in fallout hell most of the time. They learned a thing or two and decided to continue nuking others themselves.
America had it in the bag for half the game then people started taking cities and I had no idea who would win. Then France out of the fucking blue sweeps the map clean. GG
The entire time watching this I was so certain it would end up between America and Germany because of their early game expansions. I was even a little ticked off at how predictable the outcome was and wondered why civs like France and Italy were even included because it was so obvious they wouldn't capture anything and just sit in one city to wait for a large empire to gobble them up. I dum.
This fucking scares me. AI is relentless, it wont stop to take a break because its tired of producing the same units for hundreds of turns, doing same repetitive tasks over and over again on such scale that you would be exhausted if you attempted that. And with the advent of neural networks and their use in network centric warfare im fucking scared.
Daaaaang. The entire game France sucked and I thought it was between America (towards the end they were screwed), Rome or Germany... China has a small chance at the start but France? They came outta NOwhere!!!
The first I see where victory is not immedietly decided once a side drops the first A-bomb. A map where not a single city survived without being nuked at least once. And to end it, France wins with their radioactive wasteland of a hinterland to call their capital.
To some extent it feels like Washington's early lead kept most of the other nations occupied and tired them out while Paris could take its time duking it out with London and then taking over the rest of the map.
I had a game like that, no idea what happened but in the middle of the map the aztecs were surrounded with one city full of Jaguar warriors; that's right before Persia achieved a space victory mind you.
Germany fighting and exhausting the entire world and America swooping in to profit from it. So far, so accurate. Not so much what happened after that :P
I have a question: was Rome's civ Italy? And either way I didn't expect it lasting until the end and being the last civ to fall. For most of the video it had only Rome, while being surrounded by the giant nations that was America first and later Germany in the East and by England and later France in the North. At 4:21 it was just a turn away from getting conquered by England, but it survived and even conquered the American Empire. But not before Washington started switching side each turn between Italy and America.
How tf did US lose, it had three cities when everyone else had one, what happened? Where did it’s armies go? Why did others have nukes? What the hell was going on?
It would suck to live pretty much anywhere in this world, but I think Tokyo may be the worst of all. The city was under siege for about half of the game. It was the front line for multiple major wars (multiple major wars between the U.S. and Russia, the U.S. and Germany, Germany and Rome, and Rome and France). The city was also nuked multiple times, and it fell at least 9 times. Washington would also be a pretty bad city to live in, but I think Tokyo wins the award for worst city overall.
"take my Freedom, my Equality and my Fraternity in the face" says the french (and my baguette too at least...). First time i see French victorious in timelapse. ;)
Hands down the closest battle of this channel. And as always, Japan doesn't last long even if this nation has the best passive (for war) in the game and France wins (the devs probably made them win a WW because they always lost...)
Well France actually performed good during WW1, being capable of stopping German invasion (Germany had much bigger population and thus economy and army back then) and having many heroic sacrifices on the way. Its heroism in WW1 bled nation so badly it was unwilling to go into WW2, and lost legitimate invasion, only to come back with allies anyway (who survived because they were safe behind seas).
