Jenine, I am an American eye doctor living between USA and Panama. Your local physician in San Carlos is fine for minor health issues. For diabetes, consider being evaluated at Punta Pacifica Hospital in Panama City. It is Johns Hopkins University affiliated. Best to get this done so that if you do have issues, baseline is established. Also, since annual eye health evaluations are necessary with diabetics, get this done in Panama. Consider getting the government health Plan for major issues. It is affordable. Best to you.

We will be retiring to Panama. loved the home, wonder what the cost of the rental is for a place that size. love the view, of the ocean. We prefer the cooler temps so Boquete is shat we are thinking of. It’s good to know there are pharmacies snd hospitals near by.

Been going to San Carlos for over 60 years and little has changed with exception of dogs seemingly getting more to eat. lots of weekend entertainment - weekly cock fights where winner gets a case of Balboa Beer and an occasional Pindin (local music). Nice place to visit and enjoy local culture, living there is something else.

Beautiful home and family i think I could visit for a while when the mosquitos aren't biting but I was told that it's not much to do other than go swimming where it's hot or to go visit the Panama Canal I wouldn't mark it off the list but I was checking with Puerto Vallarta and other surrounding cities that are nice too I too from California so that beach tropical vibe is so beautiful, but the aspect that you have to have a car unless you live closer to downtown or Buqeutte where the weather is cooler and the rain fall isn't going to flood where you live but enjoy that's for sharing and what your profession is is really awesome helping people to conquer inner demons

I am from So Cal as well (Orange County). I have grown up surfing and have been a surf/water photographer for some time but it's getting so crowded and the prices are eye watering. A 2bd/2ba apartment is 4k and up. Honestly, I don't see how a person can retire here unless they are in the millionaire club. How is the surf in San Carlos??? Hopefully this beautiful land won't become overrun with east/west coast millionaires.
