I'm with ya. The Earthrise Optimus is actually the better value (though imo should've been at least a $35 toy) whereas the MP44 was so overly engineered and all the accessories was an obvious attempt to artificially jack up the price. Def NOT worth the $500-600!!
So glad that now there's a middle-man in Studio Series 86 Commander Class Optimus Prime that has pretty much all the bells and whistles of MP-44 but NOTICABLY less complex and sitting at a comfortable $90.
Coming back to this Vid... I recently spent about 240 in total for PM-44s (the new Toy Deco version of MP-44) Prime and I can confidently say he is 100% worth it, easily one of my favorite transformers I've ever bought shockingly and I would of never thought that. Looks incredible, crazy intricate transformation, and though feeling delicate, at the same time a very hefty feel! And the paint aps and color are fantastic. Now for Earth Rise Prime, they have a Pre-Order out for him in the Legacy United line and I'm very much looking forward to him since I never owned the original ER Prime and I've heard he's still incredible, so looking forward to that! And can't wait to see what SS 86 Commander Prime is gonna be like, 100% getting him. Oh, you may want to take a peek at Yolo Parks new insane ROTB Prime that's coming soon I believe. I think it's gonna be around $3,000 but let's just say, if I could, I would.
Honestly the masterpiece one looks like hell to transform. I'd rather sacrifice a little accuracy for an easier transformation. You know what impresses me a lot? The simple but effective transformation of the Dr. Wu knock-off miniature Optimus. He looks amazing for his size and has just a few little extra bits of detail that make the transformation all the better, whoever designed that should be working on the mainline figures.
Ah I still remember that day, where I saw that vary figure sitting on a shelf in Walmart, asking my mom desperately for every kids dream toy, an Optimus prime with a trailer and gun. And after a while of me Bitchin for that toy, she ultimately bought it for me. And still to this day, it holds up to me is my favourite Optimus prime figure ever. Love you, mom
Nostalgia has been around ALWAYS. My mom would go nuts collecting little figurines (naked cartoon ppl) and had hundreds of them. She would see one even if it was $100 she was buying it.
Personally I think the Earthrise Prime is a much better value than the MP44 one. For $50 you get a figure that’s extremely identical to the MP10 Prime, cartoon accurate, has excellent articulation with openable hands (excluding ab crunches), openable chest with the matrix, easy transformation, and comes with his trailer. Now the trailer doesn’t look that much appealing but you can get an upgrade kit for $30 which will make it $80. But that’s still an extreme difference compared to the $600 MP44 version which looks amazing and has a ton of accessories, but a rather difficult and complicated transformation. While that’s an amazing figure, I think the Earthrise Optimus Prime has so much for $50 and is a much better value overall
I agree with you. I honestly can't afford Masterpiece figures and even if I could, I wouldn't use all the accessories of one. My Optimus has a gun and a matrix in his chest, the trailer is a bonus. The figure you have ($50 Earthrise one) is my 2nd favorite Optimus figure. It is only second to the Armada Optimus that recently released. Holy cow, if you thought you loved your $50 one, this guy is double that and justifies his price nicely. He has a gun, matrix, and trailer. With a twist. He can combine with his trailer to become an even larger robot, which is called his Super Mode. Great video. I think you and I agree on what makes a good figure. It doesn't gotta be complex. Just make a toy that looks good and is fun to play with. I'm an adult and if you think I only display my figures, you are sorely mistaken.
As someone who got to see his price revealed when he was announced I say the Masterpiece Optimus Prime 2.0 its much better than the recent one Due to the fact it will last longer than the delicate 3.0 MP Optimus that would probably break in no time with his legs most likely ( just a complex transformation that isn't fun at all )
