Having watched many Transformers guys videos these days as new movie just came out. For me this is the best ROTB toys video 😃 some of the toys I’ve never seen
The waist on Battletrap is a widespread issue. There’s two locking nubs in there for truck mode and robot mode but the stupid design oversight is that it pushes the waist out when rotated. If you’re that bothered like I was, just take the nubs off with sandpaper or a knife. I also agree with your opinions on Scourge and I sincerely hope they do a 2.0 of him, the current figure just doesn’t do the character justice at all.
Good tip, thanks! Yeah, annoying how the smallest little plastic print error on those mushroom pegs will pop them out of place when rotated. It’s a thing Hasbro’s been getting worse with, I hope they fix it.

I might be wrong in my opinion but the Rotb mainline voyagers are (probably) the best we’ve seen of transformers figures since dark of the moon. They are quite high quality for mainline figures. On par with studio figures (kind of). They are also pretty movie accurate. Optimus primal in particular has his faceplate (like the film), but the higher quality figures have the beast wars style mouth. Some of them using older molds is … interesting, not bad at all. Also that joke of “what you were expecting a truck” is funny to me and will always be silly. I have to say (even if it’s bad) that the voice actor voicing the remote controlled Optimus primal, sounds somewhat like Garry chalk (beast wars Optimus primal). Ya gorilla 🦍.

I Been 6 months, but your video only now appears on my Recommends. Couple of things: First, really good idea to seperate the parameters on which to judge the toys. Completely agree with that. It just surprises me that you don't do that with the BW cartoon. Beast Wars, along with the concurrently developed ReBoot, were the first fully CGI shows in history. They were inventing the wheel, and as such, they did an amazing job. Maybe not to today's standard, but that standard only exists because of what Mainframe did. Now story, that's fair game, but I don't think it's fair to judge BW on their animation.
Glad to have you! That's a totally fair point, and I completely agree with that. I'm perfectly fine with people saying it was important for its time. I only get annoyed when people (and plenty of people do this) say it's still great for today's standards. For today, it's straight up unwatchable for most people because of the animation (and it's writing/humor, but that's a different topic lol) Tbh I just have fun dogging on the show because a lot of fans don't like to accept just how cringy it can be to the outside world. But I always say it's great that you enjoy something I don't. You win for that!
I go to my local toys shop from time to time to check what are the new transformers toys, and I can say that I really miss the old toys that used to buy when I was a kid and how good the complexity of transformations were and I’m really disappointed with the newer toys. They look stupid now with little to no details

The only bad thing about the battle trap figure is the transformation! He looks amazing and the articulation is still better than a lot of other figure at the very least a 7.5

Awesome video! Do you know if the mainline Optimus Prime is cheaper than the Studio Series one? Cause they're both voyagers but the SS has waaaaayy better engineering and paint so...?
Technically the mainline is cheaper if you can find him at retail price. The mainline version is meant to be a cheaper, less accurate and kid focused version of the character. The SS one is about $5 more and WAY better in every way (including size, he’s also a full inch taller). So I’d recommend waiting until he comes out later this summer.
It has a similar transformation since it's the same character, but it's actually a brand new mold with different transformation and no reused pieces :)

Over at my local Meijer last Saturday I saw Studio series Optimus primal and the box looked amazing but I couldn't see inside of it so I can't tell if it's a good figure
the instructions say "maximize" as far as I remember. I also tried "convert". "transform", "beast mode" and other things. None of them worked properly.
That terrorcon that you didn't buy, good figure, but in order to make people able to hold him, you need a tool, because the 5mm pin that you need to pop out has no tab, and the skinny waist makes it a PAIN to flip out.
So from what ive seen with scourge its a win or lose situation ive seen other reviewers review him and they have had no problems but i could be wrong im very torn on buying him or not im only gonna get primal for the maximals but i kinda wanna get all the autobots and terrorcons
I know this is a bit late but I have had scourge for 4 months 4 MONTHS and his backpack snapped and one of the claw hinges broke off and I I take care of the figure
I REALLY wanted the mainline primal but i kinda missed out on the chance since i was in a big rush when i saw it, i come back next week and it was obviously gone

Well Melon, you're totally right. They royally screwed the pooch on the SS Primal. Why in god's name did they mould it without the facemask lol. I'm now so glad I picked this guy up when I had the chance. He's incredibly rare in my area. Only seen him in store once and that was the copy I nabbed.
DUDE I cannot tell you the mental temper tantrum I had when I saw his reveal and realized he just didn’t have a face mask. That’s easily the most important thing to me, and everything else on him looks so good that it brings the whole thing down a ton. I’m still so salty about it, it’s insanely stupid.
@@papermelon Thank god someone else is on the same page. I had the same fit. It really annoys me how other reviewers are barely mentioning it. Plus, it's not even screen accurate to the 1 frame we saw him without the mask. I love the design of this Primal but without the mask it just kinda looks horrible to me lol. I desperately hope they change it, add it in or a 3rd party upgrade kit comes out. What also seriously annoys me is they even mentioned on stream they didn't know what to do with the extra leader budget, so they added Prime's axe and the transwarp key instead of the mask which is basically essential to this incarnation of Primal.

They all give him that stupid mustache mouth look he had from Beast Wars, but in the movie we saw his unmasked face looked mostly like his gorilla face. Either way, they both look so much worse than just giving him that awesome mask. They had one job and failed it in the simplest way possible. People think I’m being dramatic cause it’s just the face, but dude it ruins the whole look for me 😭😭. As a leader class there’s absolutely no reason they didn’t have the extra budget to give us both heads as an option. But if they had to choose one, what delusional person in Hasbro thought it would be funny to troll all of us by giving us the worst option? I’m praying for DNA upgrade kits to come to the rescue, and if all else fails I have to believe they’ll release a remold of him as Apelinq and maybe they’ll give him the mask in order to milk the collectors like us. But either way I’m pissed at Hasbro.

I wish there were more outcry over it so maybe they would change it, bc there's still a lot of time and they mentioned tweaks to mirage.. I mean, they did it with SS100 bumblebee's facepaint under the radar (even though they actually added too much and the first iteration is more accurate, but idk the whole story behind the variant with that.)

It baffles me that they can do that with a voyager budget but not everything we want for Primal on a leader budget. And I was thinking that too about the fan outcry. If enough people complained they would change it, especially cause it’s such a small thing and would barely take any work. But everyone and their mom is sitting around pretending like it’s nothing to blink at. Like what is going on dude am I imagining this 😭 I knew I couldn’t be the only one outraged about it.

So from what ive seen with scourge its a win or lose situation ive seen other reviewers review him and they have had no problems but i could be wrong im very torn on buying him or not im only gonna get primal for the maximals but i kinda wanna get all the autobots and terrorcons

Well Melon, you're totally right. They royally screwed the pooch on the SS Primal. Why in god's name did they mould it without the facemask lol. I'm now so glad I picked this guy up when I had the chance. He's incredibly rare in my area. Only seen him in store once and that was the copy I nabbed.
DUDE I cannot tell you the mental temper tantrum I had when I saw his reveal and realized he just didn’t have a face mask. That’s easily the most important thing to me, and everything else on him looks so good that it brings the whole thing down a ton. I’m still so salty about it, it’s insanely stupid.
@@papermelon Thank god someone else is on the same page. I had the same fit. It really annoys me how other reviewers are barely mentioning it. Plus, it's not even screen accurate to the 1 frame we saw him without the mask. I love the design of this Primal but without the mask it just kinda looks horrible to me lol. I desperately hope they change it, add it in or a 3rd party upgrade kit comes out. What also seriously annoys me is they even mentioned on stream they didn't know what to do with the extra leader budget, so they added Prime's axe and the transwarp key instead of the mask which is basically essential to this incarnation of Primal.
@@tonyfiorilli2270 I know right?? That’s what I’ve been trying to tell people and nobody’s listening. None of the unmasked toys even match the 1 second of face we saw from the movie. They all give him that stupid mustache mouth look he had from Beast Wars, but in the movie we saw his unmasked face looked mostly like his gorilla face. Either way, they both look so much worse than just giving him that awesome mask. They had one job and failed it in the simplest way possible. People think I’m being dramatic cause it’s just the face, but dude it ruins the whole look for me 😭😭. As a leader class there’s absolutely no reason they didn’t have the extra budget to give us both heads as an option. But if they had to choose one, what delusional person in Hasbro thought it would be funny to troll all of us by giving us the worst option?
I’m praying for DNA upgrade kits to come to the rescue, and if all else fails I have to believe they’ll release a remold of him as Apelinq and maybe they’ll give him the mask in order to milk the collectors like us. But either way I’m pissed at Hasbro.
@@papermelon Agree 100 P my guy. So super let down. At least I have SS102 Optimus to look forward to. I wish there were more outcry over it so maybe they would change it, bc there's still a lot of time and they mentioned tweaks to mirage.. But it seems most reviewers are just overlooking it or barely mentioning it. It's just insane to me lol. I mean, they did it with SS100 bumblebee's facepaint under the radar (even though they actually added too much and the first iteration is more accurate, but idk the whole story behind the variant with that.)
@@tonyfiorilli2270 ss102 is so much better then I expected. He looks absolutely fantastic. Haven’t been this hyped to pick up an SS figure in a hot minute. It baffles me that they can do that with a voyager budget but not everything we want for Primal on a leader budget.
And I was thinking that too about the fan outcry. If enough people complained they would change it, especially cause it’s such a small thing and would barely take any work. But everyone and their mom is sitting around pretending like it’s nothing to blink at. Like what is going on dude am I imagining this 😭 I knew I couldn’t be the only one outraged about it.
