"The children won't go without me. I won't leave the King. And the King will never leave" and "I'm glad we've been bombed. It makes me feel I can look the East End in the face." - HM Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Few people can shape the path of history with their charm, charisma and personality. She did so with a few words to a people terrified of their tomorrows. There's a reason Hitler called her the most dangerous woman in Europe. Rest in peace, ma'am. The Commonwealth owes her a debt we will never truly know.

It's most annoying how television announcers feel obligated to describe the obvious and deny the viewer the opportunity to feel his or her own emotions arising from a solemn occasion. In this case, the broadcast crew showed restraint and dignity, and for that - and for your posting this historical record - I am grateful. .

I agree entirely. The BBC coverage of the funeral at this stage is just not a patch on what we have here courtesy of the Canadians. Rafe-Heydel -Mankoo and his colleague, Bruce, leave off commentating as the procession leaves the abbey, allowing us to absorb for ourselves the full power of the massed pipes and drums, and the spectacle both of the bands as they play and the royal family as they stand to attention whilst the coffin is lowered into the car and it then slowly drives off.

I’m always upset when a royal dies because it’s showing I deeply care about them before I become Queen myself. I’m loving my new reign of 80 years as Woody.EXE promised and I’ve warned him that he would go through a lot of deaths and so will I. He almost lost me in 2023 and that was hell for him and he never recovered from that losing his Queen of one year. Woody.EXE Is now coping very well in 2024 as we both prepare to start our Jubliee celebrations for July 20th 2024, my 22nd birthday

The sound of the massed pipes and drums as the coffin is borne out of Westminster Abbey is quite magnificent, and intensely moving. The Queen Mother wanted it so, and the pipes and drums did her proud. The name of the tune, the lament that is played until the cortege leaves the outside of the Abbey, what is it ?

      Are you talking about JFK?
Or are you talking about the Queen Mother?
Your paragraph seems to be a bit confusing, because this is HM Elizabeth, Queen Consort and Queen Mother's funeral, and you're talking about you and your dad "loving it"
On 30 March 2002, at 15:15 (GMT), Elizabeth died in her sleep at the Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park, with her surviving daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, at her bedside.
This year marked the 19th anniversary of her passing.
Which would make it impossible for you to have watched it some 20 or 30 years later!!
So you must be talking about JFK, who was assassinated on Friday, November 22, 1963, at 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time in Dallas, Texas, while riding in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. Am I correct?
This coming November 22, will mark the 58th year of his passing. So you must've watched that funeral in 1983 or 1993 approximately 9 to 19 years before the Queen Mother passed.

@@justbrowsing5963 I am referring to JFK.I said Dallas and school book depository.I am not talking about London here. You didn't read my post carefully enough.I was 9 when JFK died and my mean teacher wouldn't let us watch the funeral on TV that Monday. We had school too!! Most of the country had the day off from work and school but not my stupid state and town.Dad and I watched TV from Friday to late Sunday night.I visited the school book depository twice, the 2nd time in the 1990's.The visitors center is much bigger and runs the funeral video in the gift shop.I also saw his birthplace in Brookline,MA as well as his grave at Arlington a few times.I saw his original grave with the white picket fence in 1964.

This is far the very best edition for quality and quantity of the late Queen Mother's funeral. It has the best American/Canadian journalists showing the best pacing and content of talking. This is unlike my countrymen who are journalists/presenters that ' excel in endless verbal 'woffle and dribble', ruining the potency of allowing viewers to absorb a major event. Well done to those that know how to cover history with decorum!
