He was not born with the expectation of inheriting the crown and he did not want it. All he wanted was the quiet life of an English country gentleman. But when duty summoned him, he did not shrink from his responsibility to his country and people even during the years of mortal danger to Britain. A truly great King. Memory eternal!

As the commentator says , sixteen years in which the world changed and suffered as never before . And the duty of a man who was never expecting to be king was unwavering. He set a standard.

As much as George did not want the crown, he was the epitome of elegance, class, and knowledge of responsibility to his beloved country. Both he, and the Queen Mother, were amazing examples of loyalty, and royalty; seeing how she insisted on staying in England during the war, spoke volumes of her love and dedication to her family and her country.
These are the real reasons that Edward was never to sit as King, he lacked the expectations and the responsibility to the people. He fell far, far below the standards of loyalty and dedication.
As for Queen Elizabeth II? Exquisite! Long live the Queen! 💐👸🏼

Edward was a spoiled dandy, whereas Harry is the result of having had his mother horribly taken away, at such a young/vulnerable age, then saddled with an emotionally distant father who was left to raise him, with enough anger in him after witnessing what his fathers betrayal of his mother, did to her.
It seems that rather than Harry and Edward be alike, both Wallis and Meghan seem to have been cut from the same cloth; both women used their “talent” to capture their target.

Hindsight is a marvellous thing. It allows those that wish to, the ability to criticise even monarchs (former and then current) who could not possibly see what we now know. In this case, the man you criticised, a former Sovereign, like the balance of humanity alive at that time, could not have possibly imagined or realised what was to come. He was simply acting as a British envoy of peace and co-operation I believe, and would have solidly been acting in the interests of Britain and the Commonwealth at the time, and not that of Germany. Remember, at that time, a lot of people in Britain and elsewhere were actually inspired by the ‘New German Order’ displayed until the horrors of later years came to pass. No person alive at the time had any conception of that unlike yourself with the power of historical knowledge.

The King as a Constitutional monarch did precisely what was needed when faced by war. He understood the nature of the Hitler threat, and why it was important to face it, and not trust Hitler any more. And he supported those who argued against suŕrender. And ultimately he posed the problem for the, defeatist, appeasement lobby, that they would have to go ahead in the knowledge that the King did not support them, and the people would know this. He then gave the country what it needed in the war- encouragement , hope , and the example of staying on and sharing the risk.
He, and his father, also both passed on to his daughter what they believed the monarch should and should not do, which with some changes to reflect changing times, is reflected in how she saw her role, how she performed her duties , and how she responded herself in talking to the nation at difficult times, when it again needed a solid steadying voice.
A hard , unexpected, unwanted, job- bravely and well done.

Watching this and reading the people's comments make me feel blessed that indeed human race can be great again.
He has impacted his world and also train a daughter that did pretty well after him. In fact, a great leadership role from someone who never hope the crown could pass to him.
May His lineage learn this and rule in prosperity and honestly over the people.
    Indeed, a great reunion home.
This is a great lesson to Us all.

I think you've got your king George's mixed up this one was George VI who died in 1952 he had only 2 daughters who have both had children, grandchildren but only Queen Elizabeth II currently has great grandchildren unless you are one of them in disguise

It was said that he had a temper, but that it was due to his frustration with his speech difficulties. All the photos and newsreels show a man devoted to his wife and children. And he was so brave and stalwart during WW2. He stayed and kept the populace calm and determined during the war. RIP Bertie.
