  • This video shows how to Link IP Cameras to Computers without Using an NVR or Internet
    The video shows detailed steps in setting up IP Cameras without using an NVR.
    The cameras have been connected to a POE switch through a POE Splitter.
    The video uses non POE IP Cameras hence the use of POE Splitters to power up the cameras. The steps in connecting the Non POE IP Cameras using the POE splitters have been shown in the video.
    The computer to be used in accessing the cameras has been connected to the router to which the POE Switch for the cameras have been connected, hence making the computer and cameras to be on the same local area network.
    A VMS has been installed on the computer on which the cameras are to be accessed.

    Nice! you can also add the four cameras to the router and it will still work without having to spend extra money on the switch.

      That's correct. The switch provides room for many cameras to be used in a network like this

      Normally, most manufacturers have VMS for their cameras which you can download from their website. But once the camera is ONVIF Compliant, you can use a VMS from any other manufacturer
      The remote view software for each brand of camera can be downloaded by scanning the QR Displayed during the startup of your DVR or NVR.

    I've inherited a ptz poe hikvision ip camera and an 8 port poe switch. I wired this up to my router but the device isn't showing up on my network when i check online. I cant access the camera. I want to be able to see the camera stream in my broswer, but first i need to find the camera on the network. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong. (I have no previous experience with ip cameras, so any advice is appreciated).

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello,
      Streaming it through your browser will require that you do port forwarding. An easier way to see the camera in your network is to install a VMS on a PC connected to your network and search for the camera on the VMS. You can download the VMS at Hikvision website for this. When all connections are well in place, you should find your camera online

    in this setup, i noticed since the poe switch could power up the non-poe cam, why should there be another power to the cam inclusive of the rj45 to the cam? Please explain to me.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว

      The moment the Camera is Non POE, it can't be powered through the Ethernet jack of the cameras. That is why a POE splitter is used to separate the power that is being sent from the POE Switch whilst still sending videos over rj45. That means that the Rj45 for non POE IP cameras is responsible for only video

      It needs to be hardwired. It can only work on wifi if you have a wifi camera.

    Is it possible to run the cameras by connecting the camera to the router and power the camera up with a power ac adapter?

      @@Tech_Inside_Out Thank you, just a quick question, I tried to connect my swann ip camera directly onto the router but I have fiber optics and this type of routers only have one LAN port in the back, I plugged the camera into the back of the router and the ac power adapter as well but the camera does not show any lights, any idea of why this is happening?
