Thank you for this video. Since qnap dropped support for hikvision cams and only onvif way is possible, your way helpmed me to get around it. Thank you and all the best!
If i am powering camera from poe which poe switch port goes to router... Uplink.. Right? The laptop is connected to router. Whats the ip adress of laptop to acess the camera in sadp tool
@Ozzysero i have a Hikvision cam i want to hardwire to router n see on my phone app (Hikvision) but bit keeps saying connection lost check connections but powers on and all new cables app works also ...just won't connect ive tried everything
Are you able to access it from your computer web browser? Is it a cam or nvr? If you can send me a drawing with ip address so I can check it for you that would be great.
Your videos are very informative. If you are storing camera101 video on an HDD and later mount NAS share to your NVR can you store the stream from camera101 to both simultaneously? Thanks.
@@ozzysero1976 That's good to know. I'm want to store on Open Media Vault. The NVR does not detect my share when run search. I can mount it on my Linux laptop without issue and write to it. I must be NFS options. I'll keep working on it.
Hey man, is there a way to do that while the camera is outside the NAS network? Outside the LAN? I have them set up in different location and wonder how to connect all that.
there are ways to do that but probably not ideal unless you have a very good WAN connection. You can use VPN tunnel. There are other ways to do it but this is the secured way that I can think off. Check WireGuard VPN.
That will depend on your storage size. It will support 4k but be aware of the file size especially if it is continuously recording. There are online calculator for this if you want to check.
Thanks for the video I want to setup IP camera record directly to PC with a WD purple HDD. Can I do it with SADP tool or do I need ivms4200 with storage server? Also what will be the minimum requirements for the PC for this setup? Also please let me know if ivms4200 and SADP tool can work with any IP cameras or just with Hikvision cameras?
Hello Rijo, you need the iVMS4200 for the PC type video recording setup. SADP tool is only a tool to setup your Hikvision devices not for recording or monitoring. PC requirement for the iVMS4200 will depend on how many cameras/channels and if you are using it also for live monitoring. If only minimal (4 channels) and recording only (no streaming/monitoring live) i5 4GB memory should be sufficient. I haven't tried SADP tool with different brand of IP camera so I can't answer this question sorry.

Great video. Can I use it on truenas or freenas ?
And the playback would be from the camera ip webpage?
@@masaeedy definitely you can. That’s correct the playback is through the camera web interface.

Thanks. If you are recording on an NVR and also recording from camera directly to the NAS the answer is yes it will be recorded simultaneously.

How many cameras can I add to a QNAP device, and does it support high-quality cameras 4K and 8 megapixels?!!
That will depend on your storage size. It will support 4k but be aware of the file size especially if it is continuously recording. There are online calculator for this if you want to check.
