  • How to use Video Baluns together with Network cables for AHD CCTV Camera Installation.
    Using Video baluns enable you to use cat 6 or cat 5 network cables to install AHD CCTV Cameras.
    The video balun then replaces BNC connectors. The cat 6 or cat 5 then replaces the coaxial and power cables.
    This method makes it possible to have less bulky cables that would have characterize the use of coaxial cables together with power cables.
    When this method is well strategized, the cameras work perfectly without any challenges but rather gives the advantage of running a single cable instead of the two cables that would have been the case when using a coaxial cable + a power cable.

      @klinsheavens8426 I don't quite understand your question but I guess you are talking about blurred pictures. It could be coming from low voltage being fed to the cameras as a result of running the cables over too long distances or using less than 3 pairs for power connections in your installation.

    Very, very impressive. Well done, bro! I have some questions on the power side.
    My first question is: Why would you choose a normal 12V adapter over a power supply?
    Second, you didn't mention that, especially when installing many cameras, if you don't prefer to use splitters, it means you'll need multiple adapters, correct?
    And third, when the distance is very far, which power source is recommended-the adapter or the power supply?
    thanks and regards

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  หลายเดือนก่อน

      1. I used the adapter for the sake of the demonstration and also considering the fact that i was using just one camera.
      2. The adapter is not an option when installing many cameras. The best is to use the power supply unit.

    Hey, enjoyed your video. I’m installing a camera for a boat in the engine room so it’s displayed on the radar video feed in the wheelhouse and they already had a cat5e ethernet wire ran and can’t run a different wire. I grabbed a balun connector and did what was recommended in this video only difference is there’s a rca jack going into the radar, so I got a bnc to rca converter cable. Will this work for single video If I just use the bnc to rca connector and no recording? I’m having some issues and the camera won’t display doing this. Just trying to make sure im not doing anything wrong. Figured I’d ask someone with more experience like yourself while I’m trying to troubleshoot this issue. Also, can you power the camera with the box into an outlet and just use the solid green and striped green to display video on the bnc? Or do you have to use all of the Ethernet wire? Assuming you don’t have to use the other 6 if you have power coming from somewhere else. Thanks for the video as well.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. The video output from the camera may not be supported by the system into which you want to feed the video.
      I will recommend that you pick an output from a recorder and rather feed the recorder output into the radar
      2. You can use the cat 6 as the video conductor whiles power is taken from another cable, that works. You don't need to use all the cables of the cat 6

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The issue is not with the camera resolution, it has do with the video format which is not compatible with your system no matter the camera resolution.

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is not advisable to do that, because there is need for the combination of a number of pairs of cable to use for power to each camera in order to have optimum power to the camera. when that is done, you will realise that one cable will not be adequate to wire up 2 cameras since apart from power, there is need for a pair of conductors to be used for video

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is advisable to use the power adapter because if you miss the power polarity (+, -) you could short circuit the camera which can lead to damage of the camera. In doing the direct connection as you mentioned, you should check the cable properly, it could work.

      This is a complete setup that can be used in wiring any kind of camera. However, there are specific cameras with audio pick up abilities.
      Every PTZ camera has its specific way to wire it up based on manufacturer.
      Expect a comprehensive video on PTZ Cameras in the very soon.

    What is the benefit of using balum on short and long distance?

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. It gives you the chance to be able to use just a UTP cable in place of having to use coaxial + power, making the cables less bulky especially when installing many cameras
      2. Drastic reduction in faults due to cable Terminations. You will be making less Terminations and hence less susceptibility to faults caused by Terminations.
      And many more.

  • @Crazyfreak424

    Hello. I'm setting up cameras 120 meters away. Someone recommended I double the cables on the balun for better signal on long distances.
    Also can I run 4 cameras on a single cat6 cable while having the power supplied locally

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      For such long distances, i will recommend having Multiple DVRs, where a DVR will serve cameras close to each other and you then link all the DVRs together so you can have all the cameras put together at one location. That will prevent all the distance related challenges.

      The video balun comes as a pair to be used for both ends of the cable. so for 4 cameras you will require 4 baluns of which you will be given 8 pieces since it is sold as a pair not individually

      100 meters is the ideal distance for running utp cables for effective results. Going beyond 100 starts with some level of depreciation in signal quality.

      When installing large number of cameras like the 30 you mentioned, you don't have to use the adapters. You require a power supply Unit, and in a 30 camera installation you need a 32 channel power supply unit.

    Which one is the economic to use between the use of Siamese coaxial and CAT 6 with baluns

    • @Tech_Inside_Out
      @Tech_Inside_Out  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you do the comparative analysis, the use of the coaxial cable + power or siamese cable are cheaper compared to the use of Cat 6 However, the wiring involved in the use of Coaxial or siamese cable is quite complex to wire, voluminous to handle when dealing with large number of cameras.
      The use of Cat 6 is easier to run, less bulky but could give problems when not properly wired.
      When you properly follow the steps in this video, you should not have problems using the Cat 6 cable
