- How to use Video Baluns together with Network cables for AHD CCTV Camera Installation.
Using Video baluns enable you to use cat 6 or cat 5 network cables to install AHD CCTV Cameras.
The video balun then replaces BNC connectors. The cat 6 or cat 5 then replaces the coaxial and power cables.
This method makes it possible to have less bulky cables that would have characterize the use of coaxial cables together with power cables.
When this method is well strategized, the cameras work perfectly without any challenges but rather gives the advantage of running a single cable instead of the two cables that would have been the case when using a coaxial cable + a power cable.

Mine where having lines why?
@klinsheavens8426 I don't quite understand your question but I guess you are talking about blurred pictures. It could be coming from low voltage being fed to the cameras as a result of running the cables over too long distances or using less than 3 pairs for power connections in your installation.

Very, very impressive. Well done, bro! I have some questions on the power side.
My first question is: Why would you choose a normal 12V adapter over a power supply?
Second, you didn't mention that, especially when installing many cameras, if you don't prefer to use splitters, it means you'll need multiple adapters, correct?
And third, when the distance is very far, which power source is recommended-the adapter or the power supply?
thanks and regards
1. I used the adapter for the sake of the demonstration and also considering the fact that i was using just one camera.
2. The adapter is not an option when installing many cameras. The best is to use the power supply unit.
3 The supply Unit.

Hey, enjoyed your video. I’m installing a camera for a boat in the engine room so it’s displayed on the radar video feed in the wheelhouse and they already had a cat5e ethernet wire ran and can’t run a different wire. I grabbed a balun connector and did what was recommended in this video only difference is there’s a rca jack going into the radar, so I got a bnc to rca converter cable. Will this work for single video If I just use the bnc to rca connector and no recording? I’m having some issues and the camera won’t display doing this. Just trying to make sure im not doing anything wrong. Figured I’d ask someone with more experience like yourself while I’m trying to troubleshoot this issue. Also, can you power the camera with the box into an outlet and just use the solid green and striped green to display video on the bnc? Or do you have to use all of the Ethernet wire? Assuming you don’t have to use the other 6 if you have power coming from somewhere else. Thanks for the video as well.
Also, I tried a 720p camera, a 1080p camera and a 5mp camera. Is there a certain camera I should be using as well?
1. The video output from the camera may not be supported by the system into which you want to feed the video.
I will recommend that you pick an output from a recorder and rather feed the recorder output into the radar
2. You can use the cat 6 as the video conductor whiles power is taken from another cable, that works. You don't need to use all the cables of the cat 6
The issue is not with the camera resolution, it has do with the video format which is not compatible with your system no matter the camera resolution.
Very very clear!!
Thank you
Hello. Thank you for your video. Very nice indeed !
Is there any reason why to choose this particular pair for the signal and not another? I'm asking because the 4 pairs have different twisting pattern...
There is no special reason for using the pairs i used and it is not a convention. You can use any of the colours, just be sure to do the matching properly.

Good afternoon...if been following you nue for sometime..i just want to how to connect 2 AHD cameras to a 1 Cat 6 cable
It is not advisable to do that, because there is need for the combination of a number of pairs of cable to use for power to each camera in order to have optimum power to the camera. when that is done, you will realise that one cable will not be adequate to wire up 2 cameras since apart from power, there is need for a pair of conductors to be used for video
When IR light is off at night then will record the video?
The IR light goes off when there is adequate light for the camera to see images clearly but the recordings will continue even of the IR light goes off.
Sir,if there is no adequate light available in the room and even the red light is not showing, will it still record?
Thank you for the well explained video, I have problem, I connected my camera using the balunes but I did not have the male and female power connector, so I used the orange and wite orange for the video and had them plugged into the balunes, and I connected the grean pair directly, but camera did not work!? Any advice?!
It is advisable to use the power adapter because if you miss the power polarity (+, -) you could short circuit the camera which can lead to damage of the camera. In doing the direct connection as you mentioned, you should check the cable properly, it could work.
What's maximum length of cable used for powering cctv camera in order to get the exact power for the camera?
The maximum recommended cable length is 100 meters
5 Hd cameras connect to cat6 cable but Dvr connect How adapters using video baluns Dc power supply
Please i don't quite understand the question, can you please rephrase it so i can understand and answer.

But on the video ballon instructions…it’s says ….No power required
That just means that the video balun is a passive device, it does not require power to function. The power termination is meant to power up the camera not the video balun.
Is it normal to supply 12v battery to 12v camera?
Will current affect affect the functionality of the camera
It works perfectly, but you need to provide the right terminals to be used in connecting the cameras.
@@Tech_Inside_Out where no AC power ,do I need inverter to convert the power from solar system
Where there is a 12 v dc power, it cn be used directly without the use of an inverter.
What ethernet cables are you using sir? The pure copper or the cca? I heard cca cables are not recommended for analog cctv
Cat6 copper cables
When after fixing the bullet outdoor camera and it sometimes turns black and white the later goes to colored, what could be the cause of it?
When that colour changes to black and white at night, it is normal phenomenon. At times it may be due to low light condition around the camera during the day. If it is not caused by any of the 2 conditions i just mentioned. then you may have to check your power supply to the camera.
@@Tech_Inside_Out I will do just that, thank you very much.
Hello. I enjoyed the lectures. Can cat5 or 6cable take analog camera to 700meters
No, the recommended length should be 100m.
Good work sir
Thank you Eric
dose distance of the cat6 matter ,in terms of long in meters ranges like 100m ,90m.80,?
Once you are within 100m of the Cat 6, there won't be any problem. Signal quality challenges occur when the length goes beyond 100m
What would be the maximum lengrh between DVR and Camera?
At most 100m
Can i ask how many meters is the limit using this cat6 cable? Can it be use for a hundred meters? Or less? Whats the exact working lenght? Thankyou in advance for the answer.
The recommended length to run it is 100m, but that is practical when you use pure copper cables. To be on the safer side, you should run it up to 80m when you are not sure of the quality of your cable
Very informative
Thank you
Without ballon we connect bnc connector or not
There are BNC connectors that can be connected to Cat 6 cables without using video baluns
Does this mean that I can connect any camera to dvr closed loop system? Nothing connected to network?
Please i don't understand Closed zloop system. Kindly explain.
@@Tech_Inside_Out decentralized system. Like DVR, not connected to any network. Only cables and server that is controled from room server only. No remote acces of any kind and no internet connection.
Please i want to ask with this kind of connections will it also support audio too
Yes, once your camera has audio ability
I want to know how to connect two analog camera via one cat6 cable
It is not advisable to connect 2 cameras on one Cat 6.
How log distance will work ?
100m is the recommended distance.
Sir can i use a power supply unit in combination with a 12v connector? I mean a DC power supply unit in the end of the DVR with a 12 v connector at the camera?
Yes, what is needed is the 12 volts, the source does not really matter in terms of what device is used in producing the 12volts

Hello I would like to know what to do in case my cat 6 cable is short and needs to be extended, is it possible
It is not advisable to join a Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable. Should it become necessary to join, you can join it on a Krone
@@Tech_Inside_Out well at this point its necessary . thank u for your support
Will you join another cable to extend the pair’s you’ve chosen to go to the power bridge if you were to use the power supply unit ( what cable will be that)
I don't quite understand your question, but let me attempt with my understanding.
1. You are not supposed to join the network cables.
2. In running network cables, you don't have to exceed 100m
3. You can always get the network cables in excess of 100 m length.
In case the above answers do not answer your questions, please write to me again on this particular question.
Boss if you have multiplr cameras like 20,will you still use adapter?
You dont need adapters, you can use a single power unit for all cameras in place of the adapters
@@Tech_Inside_Out just like the one in the video, right?
Nice vid..how many amperes is the 12v power supply?
Each bridge provides a 1amp current

is there a limit of distance for utp cable to have a good results of voltage and camera?
The recommended cable length is 100m
An i use video balun to 300m cable coaxial because the image not good but in the tester good
It is not recommended to run the cat 6 cable beyond 100m. You would have to segment your network and make your cables shorter within 100m
With this setup can I control my ptz camera and also will I have audio from the camera to the nvr? Please thanks
This is a complete setup that can be used in wiring any kind of camera. However, there are specific cameras with audio pick up abilities.
Every PTZ camera has its specific way to wire it up based on manufacturer.
Expect a comprehensive video on PTZ Cameras in the very soon.
@@Tech_Inside_Out please thanks for your info
What is the benefit of using balum on short and long distance?
1. It gives you the chance to be able to use just a UTP cable in place of having to use coaxial + power, making the cables less bulky especially when installing many cameras
2. Drastic reduction in faults due to cable Terminations. You will be making less Terminations and hence less susceptibility to faults caused by Terminations.
And many more.
Can we use all 4 pairs for dc power connection?
Yes, you can.
Hello. I'm setting up cameras 120 meters away. Someone recommended I double the cables on the balun for better signal on long distances.
Also can I run 4 cameras on a single cat6 cable while having the power supplied locally
For such long distances, i will recommend having Multiple DVRs, where a DVR will serve cameras close to each other and you then link all the DVRs together so you can have all the cameras put together at one location. That will prevent all the distance related challenges.
@@Tech_Inside_Outgood idea
@@Tech_Inside_Outplease do you have any videos on this
Hello sir, isee uve used two video baluns on one camera, what happens when u have 4 cameras
The video balun comes as a pair to be used for both ends of the cable. so for 4 cameras you will require 4 baluns of which you will be given 8 pieces since it is sold as a pair not individually
Thank you
You're welcome and thank you too.
Can i use 1 cat6 cable for 2 cameras
That can work for cameras at short distances away from your DVR
Why not share the cat6 cables into 2 for the power and signals respectfully, so we can also have strong signal
The video does not require a large cross sectional area of the cable to be transmitted. For power, cross sectional area is important.
what is the DVR
DVR - Digital Video Recorder
It has video ports called BNC inputs
All cameras are connected to it through the BNC inputs.
Thank U Sir

100 meters is the ideal distance for running utp cables for effective results. Going beyond 100 starts with some level of depreciation in signal quality.

Which one is the economic to use between the use of Siamese coaxial and CAT 6 with baluns
If you do the comparative analysis, the use of the coaxial cable + power or siamese cable are cheaper compared to the use of Cat 6 However, the wiring involved in the use of Coaxial or siamese cable is quite complex to wire, voluminous to handle when dealing with large number of cameras.
The use of Cat 6 is easier to run, less bulky but could give problems when not properly wired.
When you properly follow the steps in this video, you should not have problems using the Cat 6 cable
