The handmade rifle is likely a reference to the "true shovel AK", which was a homemade AK using the handle of a shovel as a stock in addition to the blade of the shovel as the dust cover. It was apparently very well-made, hence the fact that it looks nearly professional quality in-game.
I don't think Fallout 4's Assault Rifles would have been so hated if it had been the Machine Gun & there had been 2 Assault Rifle options, like originally intended during development
They could of made it a LMG made specifically for Power Armor . It would make sense with the prevalence of PA in the Post war military to make weapons specifically for PA use

I believe the cut Assault Rifle from Operation Anchorage name being "Wanda" is that soldiers would often name their rifles after people they know back home so that's why I believe is the reason for it's name
Giving names for gun models is kinda common IRL, for example during WW2, the FEB used to call the MG42 as Lurdonha as a joke with the wife of one soldier that talked too much.
Fun fact: the Lewis gun was nicknamed the Belgian Rattlesnake. The combat rifle, if I remember correctly, is a mix between a PPSH 41 and the B.A.R ( Browning Automatic Rifle)
There’s actually a fully modelled R91 skin for the handmade rifle within the files of Fallout 76, it’s been in the game for years but has never been made officially obtainable in any way as of now. I highly recommend looking through content within the files of 76, as there are a LOT of cut/unused items that could fit into your videos as well as future ones!
I mean... that's interesting and all... but if it's not content that is actually accessible and available to players and hasn't been for years... It's not really worth talking about.
@@matchesburn RadKing still talks about cut content within the files of all of the other games when the need arises, so it would only help to make sure he covers as much as possible
@@YazzPott How come? 76 is full of awesome lore and especially environmental storytelling, plus the game itself is actually decent now and has been for some time
@@shadow-squid4872 Mostly because of the Brotherhood and Enclave lore. The line is also blurred with how insane some of the events and seasonals get. Is there really a 500 foot molerat? I dunno, seems too much, even for a whacky world like Fallout. Its always a problem with online games, they have to escalate things over time, and its up to the developers to decide if its canon in the offline games. Is there really a time period after the war where everyone ran around in flaming rabbit suits and jester costumes? I have played the game a decent bit btw, up until the Pitt which didnt have enough to keep me interested. BUT, despite not minding the game, I could never get on with the main story, though I agree the environmental stories are very good!
The shovel handle stock on the handmade rifle is a reference to a picture of an AK found overseas where someone did that in real life to replace a missing stock. Later someone completely built an AK using the blade of the shovel to make the receiver. Look up "shitshovel AK" to see that. It's really funny. The name for the handmade rifle in Fallout 4 might be a reference to that. Later, Karl Kasarda from the InRange TV YT channel and Henry of 9 Hole Reviews would come up with the Wasteland Shuffle which is very much inspired by Fallout and Karl would shoot the drill using an AK that he put a shovel handle on.
Quick note on the AK-112 (6:00) the AK designation isn't exclusively Russian. The AK-5 is a Swedish assault rifle where the "AK" designation comes from the Swedish "Automatkarbin" which translates into "automatic carbine".
@@PurpleSnake Not exactly, Korovina made a prototype automatic rifle in compitetion with Kalashnikov. That gun, Avtomat Korovina, is also an AK but not a kalashnikov
@@PurpleSnake no. both of them are written with big "K". the number is what matters or what letter comes after it. AK5 or AK5C are clearly the swedish rifles. AK74M or AKM or AK105.... and many many more are of course the russian. if you say "AK" by default people are going to think of the russian line of rifles, thats why you need to specify which one are you talking about.
@@Pigness7 Why would that matter? Neither of Sergey Korovina's rifle designs were ever accepted for service and never went into production. A vast majority of people don't even know they exist. Extremely obscure prototype weapons are not relevant to a conversation like this.
In the Museum of Technology in fallout 3 there’s a display that makes reference to an assault rifle called the M199, this could be the assault rifle in fallout 4 because it’s described as “Perhaps the most well-recognized weapon in the modern U.S. Military arsenal, the M199 earned its nickname 'The Backtalker' from the unusual report the firing mechanism makes as it ejects a spent shell. Firing standard 5.56mm rounds, the M199 is still the official infantry weapon of the U.S. Army.” also several creation club paints write “M199” on the drum mag of the assault rifle.
31:40 for anyone confused: it doesnt do 2x damage but rater the unmodded damage is added to the weapons damage and this total is split into two projectiles.
The FO4 "assault rifle" does start to make sense if it was meant for power armored soldiers (given the largerness of PA). To a normal person, it would def be far too big and bulky to be anything under a LMG/HMG, but power armor would easily allow it to be held like a 'rifle'. it reminds me of other weapons in other series, such as the Boltgun from 40k, which may be standard issue rifle to 3 meter tall space marines, but would be otherwise unwieldy to anything not in power armor. perhaps they should have called it the "Power Armor Assault Rifle" or something
@@skitariiranger4346 I think the idea to give a weapon reminiscent of something like an M1 carbine. Bigger than a typical smg, but smaller than a full sized rifle.
07:10 not entirely true, the AK prefix stands for different things, in Sweden we use the AK4 and AK5, where the AK stands for "AutomatKarbin" Automatic Carbine/rifle, and the FN FAL was tried for Swedish service under the name AK1.
Did you know that the Volsturmgwher rifles are actually in production right now? A few gunsmiths are out there making new reproductions of it. And in Maine they have Windham Weapons who do already make repros of classic M-16s and others.
During the time period of the Great War, the US and Russia were at peace, and had fairly normal diplomatic relations. The fact that China was at war with both of them probably contributed to better relations. One of the canonical default starter characters in Fallout 1, Nadia was even descended from a soviet (later patched to say russian) diplomat who's family got in from the consulate in San Francisco.
China wasn’t at war with the Soviet Union in the fallout timeline. Tranquility lane has a thing where you can enable communist invasion, with the soviets and Chinese both being involved

I really really really love your content but I always found it difficult to watch your older videos. This tho. This is PERFECT. Thank you for your time and effort 👌
I always though the Combat Rifle looked like something evolved from the BAR (though the Papasha inspiration is also visible). It's what would happen if the US armed forces had decided to base their standard rifle on the work of John Browning rather than Eugene Stoner. As for the Radium Rifle, I imagine that it's a weapon designed for use by submachine crews, on account of being more compact than the Combat Rifle. It would explain how it is more or less exclusively found around the submarine base at Far Harbour. That said, its presence in Appalachia could suggest that it was also used by nuclear silo crews.
The VG 1-5 was mainly a project of the Germans to create an effective “Stg” that was cheap at the end of the war. It was intended to be used by the “Volkssturm” hence the name “Volkssturmgewehr”. I see why you imagined it as a compact and effective rifle for crews in limited spaces but the I think the many Smg of the Germans would fit the need of such crews. Needless to say, the VG 1-5 was too little, too late and, imho used the wrong caliber. The 8 mm kurz was pretty rare at the time of the VG 1-5 and Smg calibers would be a better fit since the intended use behind the weapon would be mainly city’s and 9mm was much more common
Personally I think the combat shotgun, and combat rifle were mainly civilian weapons. Since they're so similar, it'd make production cheaper and the combat rifle mainly being chambered for pistol calibers makes it more of a carbine than a rifle, but the manufacturer could of called it this for marketing. And the government may of preferred civilians having access to less powerful rifles considering how much civil unrest there was. Alot harder to take down soldiers in power armor and sentry bots with pistol rounds and shotgun shells if civilians decided to revolt.
The Radium rifles are a nod to Edgar Rice Burrough’s Barsoon series of pulp sci-fi, (John Carter and the Princess of Mars is the start of the series) especially the Kiloton rifle’s explosive effect, as the Radium rifles of the green martians fired explosive projectiles.

I would say its more like the F.N. made BAR. The Automatic Rifle looks more like those than the Colt Monitor, because the Monitor is shorter and has a pretty distinct muzzle brake while the F.N. BAR's look just like normal ones with just a pistol grip thrown on.
@@atompunk5575 I would recommend checking out all the different BAR variants made by other countries, its funny how much they improved it while the US was still giving troops a slightly "upgraded" version that was pretty much the same as the WW1 design lmao
Love it Rad, I had wondered if you were going to remaster some of these older videos. the wood furniture on the AR15/M16 platform isn't completely unheard of. I used to have an AR15 with wood furniture, but it was very fragile. in just 2 years I had to replace it with more "traditional" plastic furniture because it was completely falling apart. the requirement for a hollowed out stock, and very thin handguards forces compromises which negatively impact structural integrity.
sorry to spam, I'm commenting as I watch through. the shovel stock/handmade rifle is actually a real world thing somebody did. I used to frequent gun forums, and back in the early 2000s you could purchase parts kits for AK47s (semi automatic versions anyway), that had everything you needed to build one, except for the receiver. these kits get around certain legislature that makes it illegal to import weapons from certain countries. one fellow decided to make a receiver out of a shovel blade, heating it, hammering it into the proper shape and drilling the holes where they needed to go. to top it off, he used the shovel handle for the stock.
One minor thing regarding the Handmade Rifles resemblence to the Dragunov, I would argue instead that it is closer to the Romanian PSL. The Dragunov, while having similar controls and aesthetics, is mechanically different from the Russian AK platform, whereas, long story short, Romania couldn't get the tech package for the SVD, so they upscaled an AKM to 7.62x54R to get their own DMR, and viola, you get the PSL

The Fo3 assault rifle used by the guard looks like a H&K G3. The one mentioned looking like a FAL I thought looked more more like a Galil or possibly even an HK33. Both have blockier receivers and handguards and similar generation of rifle.
The Communion of Rad. Edit: sadly I've only gotten the All-American once. This is due to a game breaking bug occurring nearly 100% of the time for me every time I go to the vault to get it. Thanks for remastering this bro this was very detailed and the backstories on each rifle make so much sense in the grand scheme of the Fallout timeline. W video.
Actually the semi auto version of the handmade rifle would be closest to a Romanian PSL as the PSL is a AK reciever made to work in semi auto as a marksmans rifle, while the SVD (dragonov) has a completely different reciever and almost no parts in common as well as being a completely different platform.
Ah yeah Rifle time baby! My personal favourite is the radium rifle from fallout 4, it’s a Volksturmgewehr that shoots radioactive bullets and I find that neat.
Rad King is my favourite creator right now, im loving the in depth explanations and discussions. One day, I'm sure he can run out of current content to talk about, and I hope that one day he uses his knowledge to talk about what could be possible in the world of Fallout
2:28 you can get it out of the simulation if you stuff the dead Garys into the pod with you and mash the E key as the simulation ends (you can get every wepon if you drop them on the ground before changeng equipment, and stock on ammo in similar way)
My interpretation with the radium rifle is that the children of atom made them themselves, hence the resemblance to the last ditch rifles the Nazis made at the end of the war
So my theories for the first few guns are as follows: R91 was only widely used in the DC military. Commonwealths had more independence than we thought, leading to each functioning as its own independent nation under the federal, sort of like a King rules many lands, but those lands are wildly different between each other. The west, being the west, chose to use its overwhelming surplus of M16/M4 (or, Service and Carbine rifles) it never destroyed. The NCR reverse engineers these, and is easily capable of building their own, albeit without the advanced polymer materials pre war models used. This leaves the R91 for the east, which was likely influenced by imported models (real G3 and FALs) used for RnD. Being DC, they overproduced the hell out of these without a thought to what their army would do in a civil conflict, and thats why they are everywhere. Chinese rifle- I theorize that there was actually a real invasion taking place the day the bombs fell. We know from F4 the chinese had subs ready to fire everywhere, even as far as boston, so it stands to reason they intended for a full ground assault to take the Capitol, with nukes in their back pocket. Over a period of years, they moved hundreds, maybe thousands of troops into the DC area and hid huge stockpiles of rifles and bullets until the day came. Whether or not the troops ever received their orders, most of these caches would be discovered or, more likely, raided by survivors who knew of their locations, and thus became common as the supply grew, thanks to their simple design and reliable construction. AK-47 (AK-103). AK-47 was in development as early as 1942, and the RPK was cited to be in heavy testing during 1945. The 47 would have certainly existed in Fallout, and as russia follows its real world history, so too would its successors and variants. This would lead to the 'AK vs M4' of Fallout, and the two nations paid obscene amounts of money to import the weapons of their rivals by the thousands for RnD, and then resold them to the public to offset costs. We can simply assume this doesnt change in Fallout, which is also why the M1 Garand appears in New Vegas (even today, Springfield Armory is empty but there are easily over half a million Garands stashed across the US military depots, and another 850,000 Surplus in South Korea alone), and why Colt 1911s are common too.
I have a theory about the AK112, since it has a look similar to the FAL and G3 rifles, what if it is reconned and it is now the R91 assault rifle from Fallout 3. Also noticed that in terms of weapons tech, it appears to have at least advance to at least the 80's with things like picatinny rails for mounting optics were created in the 80's and other firearms created after the 50's.
Theory for how the Children of Atom got all those old German weapons would be the Allies dumping millions of tons of weapons and munitions into the sea in various places after the end of the war, they had too much to even make scrapping them viable. They didn't want stockpiles around to end up in "the wrong hands", some of it had been poorly stored and transported during/after being captured and was damaged or degraded, in the case of ammunition and explosives unstable and in some cases massive amounts of chemical weapons. The North Eastern American coastline was one of the spots, they still have not found all of it to this day when surveying the region for possible clean up. Maybe the Children of Atom found a scuttled barge full of those carbines.
this guy is underrated, hope you get to 100k soon! your very close to it. I usually watch these videos while playing the corresponding fallout game, Game pass is a dream come true
One thing that always fascinated me in the jump from Fallout 3 to 4 is whatever happened to the Chinese assault rifle disappearing from Fallout New Vegas THE Chinese assault rifle was one of the best weapons in Fallout 3 it did make a return somewhat in Fallout 4 with the nuka-world DLC proving the AK platform is by far one of the best rifles to customize and add to a Fallout game not to mention its wide range of accessories long barrel heavy barrel short barrel no stock just like the IRL AK -47. - AK-74.. variations
noticed a slight error, the Lewis guns barrel shroud is not actually a water jacket, it uses cooling fins. the weapon is designed to force air through it when firing to better cool the barrel and was initially intended for aircraft use where heavy water filled jackets would be a detriment and the air speed of the plane would help cool it naturally.
I remember hearing the reason for The Problem Solver and The Splattercannon having the same legendary effect is so that you don't lose out on a really powerful rifle if you decide to murder all the raiders in Nuka-World. I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is true, it's a pretty cool way to allow the player to not have to devote to Charisma just to pick up one of the most powerful rifles in the game.
I totally use a mod that adds the service rifle to Fallout 4. The Survivalist is one of like 8 or so legendary variants of the service rifle that are included with the mod.
Man awesome remaster, I've just recently started watching your vids and all of them have been really fun listening too can't wait to see what you come out with next
35:33 Since I didn't see anyone jumping to draw this connection the "Colt Rangemaster" may be based on an obscure non-AK/non-AR rifle from the 70's called the GWINN Bushmaster, the "master" name alone is already to big of a coincidence to pass up, but add on the boxy slabsided reciever and wood foregrip and it would be hard to argue its from anything else (especially not an M1)
The Combat rifle is interesting, I think it's meant to fill the role of both an Military version of an Ruger Mini-14, while also be a M14 rifles. Imagine if the M14 design, the army want an something that can fill the role of an assault rifle, battle rifle and SMG or whatever the M1 and M2 carbine is consider to be, and that Arms combat say "WE can made something that fill all of those role, but with stamping technology". So they made, their own version of First being an either a 5.56x45mm rifle, that can be converted, by replacing the barrel and receives with one that chamber 7.62x51mm NATO/308 (differ from Holy Kalash 7.62x39) and at some point, they also chamber the thing in either .45ACP or more likely a cut or concept 30-30 Carbine round. Which mean it is a rifle, build off of stamps technology, the same as the AR-18, G3 and AKM, but can be manufactures into three different rifle for three different role, out of the frame.
I think the best explanation to the Radium Rifle is that the children found an original Volksturmgevehr somwhere in a museum, uppon investigating the gun a techincally skilled child of atom saw the cheap and simple source of firepower they could make by copying it's design. After making it to the Nucleus they scavenged parts from old rusted army rifles scattered across the place and retooled them into their radium rifles with an extra radiation kick. This is my best guess since there is no way the children found a stash of these in america, the weapons were rare even in 1945 and since they were issued to german civilians most were confiscated and melted down by the allies after the war so only a few survived to this day.
The first G3 had the wood furnishing. I think that's why the devs called it that. Even then, it's not a real G3 if it shoots 5.56. That's like calling the MP5 a G3.
33:45 This is actually a reference to a famous news article. A guy bought a shovel, an AK parts kit and and a barrel. The shovel was used to make the receiver of an AK he built, the only thing he lacked was a stock and used the shovel handle for it.
He certainly knows a thing or two, however not a lot. "ItsYaBoyBrandyBoy" knows a lot more if you want to check him out. Rad King tends to know some weapon models but gets a few things wrong. The fact he knows what he does is refreshing however, I definitely appreciated his calling out of the absurdity of the Infiltrator and perforator.
they could explain the AK 112 by saying the AK could stand for "automatic killer", I think it would fit well considering one of the combat shotguns is called the widowmaker. maybe colt wanted a peice of the AK action
honestly i dont have any issue with fallout 4 guns at all , while the lack of an r91 was quite odd it wasnt something i couldnt live without and the guns being cursed is perfectly fine by me
i think the fallout assault rifle would have been better as a higher calibre mmg (like perhaps intended) it's design borrows from the maxim/looks water cooled in design. a barrel mod to swap that out for a lewis style shroud for increased recoil but greatly reduced weight could have been cool. as for the design of an assault rifle to take its place, there are such a wide variety of aesthetic options available to draw inspiration from they could have gone buck wild.
3:36 thats a type 56 sks not the type 93. you should have also mentioned that the type 93 uses the handguards, dust cover and charging handle from an rpd. if you want to get technical. 27:38 marksman carbine has a vltor casv handguard, magpul prs stock and a trijicon acog. 34:10 no. svd is chambered for 7.62x54r and has a different receiver, dust cover, handguard, gas block, front sight and many more. it resembles a tabuk marksman rifle or tabuk sniper rifle.
32:48 my personal preference for this gun comes from the presence if the "assault" rifle in FO4. I have a bunch of unused 5.56, so I wanna spend it with a less visually offensive gun.
The U.S.S.R. still existed by the time of the Great War, and seemingly had fairly cordial relations with the U.S.A. as one of the pre-made Vault Dwellers in fallout one is a child of one of the staff at the Soviet Embassy
Another thing is that the shovel AK is real, and a bit of a meme in the firearms community. The stock isn't the only part that's hand made, the receiver is actually made out of the shovel blade bent and hammered into shape, but yes, all the internal parts are from a regular parts kit.
If you want to experience cool dynamic weather systems I suggest you play a game called The Solus Project. They have almost every type of weather and it's really well done. They even have these truly terrifying water spouts that come in off the ocean (the game is set on a series of islands) -- they'll having you running frantically for shelter! It is kinda of a sci-fi exploration/survival/horror (but the survival part is not so overdone that it gets tedious). This was one of my favorite games that I played recently and I wish there was more of it.
I actually just recently ran across a combat rifle with the double projectile legendary on it out in the wild. So I turned it into my new sniper and renamed it The Doublemint Gun and it is a beast
Hmm, perhaps the Radium Rifles in Far Harbor were being kept in the Nucleus prewar as part of the armory’s inventory, with all the cutting edge and top of the line weaponry being shipped overseas, the Military Police stationed there was given older equipment, like how the Grease Gun was said to be given to the National Guard in weapon’s description in Fallout 2…
Just want to mention a small thing about the r91 likely being called G3 in the files The reason for it likely being called g3 in the files is because both the fact that Cetme is not well known but also that earlier G3 variants had wooden furniture. Denmark for example had wooden G3 rifles because they leased their G3s from West Germany and West Germany (likely wanting to get rid of their older G3s) gave it to the Danes
1:30 Something to note with the Chinese Assault Rifle is the Magazine Curvature. The Curvature is that of a 30 round 7.62x39mm, which is harsh the way it is to aid feeding the amount of rounds it intends to hold. If the model was correct, the magazine would curve a lot less harshly. Also note 30 round 5.45x39mm Magzines will not reliably feed 5.56x45mm rounds at full capacity. You *can* partially load them but you need properly built Magzines.
The sim chinese assault rifle can actually be obtained via glitches during a OA playthrough. All you must do is obtain the gauss rifle from the quartermaster, do the requisitions glitch (get alot of pistols), shoot at an enemy’s weapon w/ vats with thr gauss rifle till they ragdoll, pickpocket the ragdolled enemy quickly & loot their ammo, place any other weapon & its ammo in there (10mm pistol & ammo) & repeat the gauss rifle ragdoll pickpocket glitch & boom! You have the sim chinese AR
Maybe a reason for the large influx of foreign made weapons is because the US (which remain the sole superpower besides China since WW2) invested heavily into importing foreign made weaponry. Also if you notice a lot of weapons actually producers by the US post divergence we’re almost exclusively made for dealing with the resource riots the same also goes for things such as riot gear and the T-45 version of PA after T-51 replaced it on the Alaska front
The Fallout 4 Assault rifle has always bothered me. Everything from it’s weight to it’s design tells me it is in fact not an assault rifle, but a suppressive LMG. First off it’s about 20 pounds. That is machine gun weight. Second, the water cooled jacket. Water cooled machine guns only have one true purpose in the modern world; suppressing human wave attacks. The same strategy China uses. It’s why Russia keeps a ton of old maxims on their border with China. Water cooled guns don’t overheat as long as they have water. It makes sense only in that role or carried by a power armor user. No infantryman will be using that thing like a carbine.
Slight correction about the semi-auto sniper version of Fallout 4's handmade rifle. Its not based on the Russian SVD, but rather its a carbon copy of the Romanian PSL (which was my service rifle when I was in Afghanistan). The distinctive handguard and the position of the magwell are dead giveaways.
I love the video it is amazing. But as a Firearms enthusiast. It is a magazine not a clip. That was my only issue. Thank you for taking the time to remaster an old video and update lore and facts.
The handmade rifle is actually based off a reddit post where a guy used the head of a shovel and bent it into the ak reciever hence why the stock is a shovel handle the rest came from a parts kit
What makes far more sense is Fallout 4s "assault rifle" being essentially Fallouts equivalent of the US militaries M249 SAW. A medium sized Lmg in 5.56mm and water cooled would be too heavy for a person to weild well effectively, but add power armour into the equation and it becomes very clear what its intended purpose is plus the fact one loading screen shows someone in T51 armour holding that weapon. It would be a fantastic machine gun that can lay down fire for extended periods due to the water cooled barrel compared to an air cooled barrel. Which would make for a great juggernaut like weapon with all that armour on.
In fallout 3 operation Anchorage, you overhear a soldier say that his brother wants him to bring a chinese gun back. G.I. bringbacks were probably still legal in the fallout universe wheras they became illegal in ours after vietnam (some exceptions exists) this could explain all the foreign Russian guns. Also some post-war gunsmith could've just made them
I'd like to say that AK is just a platform of rifle like the AR. The type 95 is an AK platform rifle and pretty much every country on earth has made or used an AK pattern rifle at some point so I don't really think it would imply and US-Russia relations. Also I refuse to believe that the wood on those guns hasn't rotted after like 200 years of neglect. Though there's also a real-life reason for having a wood stock being that wood absorbs energy wood far better than polymer stocks.
I'm pretty sure Josh Sawyer was tired when answering the question about wood. The gun runners make their own firearms, we know tgis because the vendor states it, and we can see their factory and schematics with our own eyes. We also see living trees growing up by jacobstown and zion, so trees still exist for wood.
The handmade rifle is likely a reference to the "true shovel AK", which was a homemade AK using the handle of a shovel as a stock in addition to the blade of the shovel as the dust cover. It was apparently very well-made, hence the fact that it looks nearly professional quality in-game.
IIRC, even the receiver was made from a shovel, albeit "just" the metal of it pressed and bent into an AK receiver.

I believe the cut Assault Rifle from Operation Anchorage name being "Wanda" is that soldiers would often name their rifles after people they know back home so that's why I believe is the reason for it's name
“She’s my very favorite. I call her Vera.”
It might be interesting to note that Wanda would have been in FO3, where you play as the Lone Wanda-er
Nice fact
@@georgemcfadden680agreed
PPSH 41 (pistolet-pulemiyot Shpag'ina)
The forgrip also seems to be taken from the ks-23 shotgun
@@tonierbuckle0202 ehh seems closer to the Reisling smg
The Automatic Rifle is actually based on a Colt Monitor, which was basically a BAR with a pistol grip.
@@shadow-squid4872I thought Fallout 76 wasnt canon?
Im joking I just wish it was true…
I've spoken about this before but the Ak prefix doesn't always mean Russian, for example the swedish Ak5, which stands for Automatic Karbine instead.
AK means Avtomat Kalashnikov. Ak means Automatkarbin. If the 'k' is big it's a Kalash and if it's small it's the Swedish AR.
Maybe they need to stop trynna be pretenders and come up with their own damn names!!!!
Wow thanks for the info that’s cool lore
I'm willing to bet that was a missed detail.... Interesting though.
The Service Rifle goes so hard and deserves to come back
31:40 for anyone confused: it doesnt do 2x damage but rater the unmodded damage is added to the weapons damage and this total is split into two projectiles.

Yeah, our man is growing 👏🤩
The FO4 "assault rifle" does start to make sense if it was meant for power armored soldiers (given the largerness of PA). To a normal person, it would def be far too big and bulky to be anything under a LMG/HMG, but power armor would easily allow it to be held like a 'rifle'. it reminds me of other weapons in other series, such as the Boltgun from 40k, which may be standard issue rifle to 3 meter tall space marines, but would be otherwise unwieldy to anything not in power armor.
perhaps they should have called it the "Power Armor Assault Rifle" or something
I would have love if the power armor had their own weapons only usable by them and the super mutants (machine gun/assault rifle, 10mm pistol, etc.)
Whats also funny is the "combat rifles" in game are by default chambered in pistol calibers, so they're closer to being SMGs than rifles

Didn't know this.
Thanks for the fun fact!
China wasn’t at war with the Soviet Union in the fallout timeline. Tranquility lane has a thing where you can enable communist invasion, with the soviets and Chinese both being involved
@@blueberet0I disagree, I believe the communist invasion only spawns in Chinese soldiers. I may very well be wrong but I played the quest not too long ago and don’t recall seeing Russian troops present
@@AliUsama-v9i Yea my bad, i mixed it up. The communist invasion does only spawn in chinese soldiers, but in fallout 4 there is a location called the Switchboard, a pre-war military facility. It states that there was a chance that the soviets and chinese could invade america
I dont think its ever stated that China was at war with the USSR, but as far as I remember USSR hadnt collapsed in the Fallout series.
The alloy steel assault rifle I believe was more likely a cut pitt dlc weapon that you would make with the steel ingots or could been a reward for collecting them
I really really really love your content but I always found it difficult to watch your older videos.
@@Piratenklo69 Oh, I know what the real world Volkssturmgewehr is, I was talking about its Fallout counterpart.
The rifles video was actually how I found your channel, I’m so glad you’re doing it over with *much* better quality

The Automatic Rifle in Dead money is closely relatable to a Colt Monitor, and so very few were made, estimated price are $90,000 per gun
Always just assumed it was supposed to be a BAR. Didn't know about that rifle before. Neeto
I would say its more like the F.N. made BAR. The Automatic Rifle looks more like those than the Colt Monitor, because the Monitor is shorter and has a pretty distinct muzzle brake while the F.N. BAR's look just like normal ones with just a pistol grip thrown on.

Not at all, I enjoy seeing you in the comments!
I believe the perforator/infiltrator can be found in mick and ralph's secret weapon rack at their store in new vegas

I do go through the comments and vet the informative comments. I just haven’t been screen shotting them for inclusion.
Actually the semi auto version of the handmade rifle would be closest to a Romanian PSL as the PSL is a AK reciever made to work in semi auto as a marksmans rifle, while the SVD (dragonov) has a completely different reciever and almost no parts in common as well as being a completely different platform.

So my theories for the first few guns are as follows:
R91 was only widely used in the DC military.

One thing that always fascinated me in the jump from Fallout 3 to 4 is whatever happened to the Chinese assault rifle disappearing from Fallout New Vegas THE
Chinese assault rifle was one of the best weapons in Fallout 3 it did make a return somewhat in Fallout 4 with the nuka-world DLC proving the AK platform is by far one of the best rifles to customize and add to a Fallout game not to mention its wide range of accessories long barrel heavy barrel short barrel no stock just like the IRL AK -47. - AK-74.. variations
I like that gun, I customize it into what is practically a scoped rpk with the sniper stock, it's like a recoiless machine gun
noticed a slight error, the Lewis guns barrel shroud is not actually a water jacket, it uses cooling fins. the weapon is designed to force air through it when firing to better cool the barrel and was initially intended for aircraft use where heavy water filled jackets would be a detriment and the air speed of the plane would help cool it naturally.
Thank you!
Now I will have the oportunity of revisit all the special rifles of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, thank you.
I think it's funny how he just walks into a town and guns down everyone with the weapon he's showcasing whether they're friendly or not
I've been binging your videos, they're so good. Much love to Rad King, Rad Queen, and Rad Kiddo.
Aw thank you. The only the most dedicated know of the whole rad family :)
The Fo4 assault rifle was chunky to match power armor and your pronunciation is impeccable
The garand makes a apearence in new vegas gunrunners as thd battlerifle.
Love the content!
The first G3 had the wood furnishing. I think that's why the devs called it that. Even then, it's not a real G3 if it shoots 5.56. That's like calling the MP5 a G3.

This is actually a reference to a famous news article.
A guy bought a shovel, an AK parts kit and and a barrel.
The shovel was used to make the receiver of an AK he built, the only thing he lacked was a stock and used the shovel handle for it.
Finally, someone covering fictional guns who actually knows a thing or two about guns
Kinda disappointing how many dont
He certainly knows a thing or two, however not a lot. "ItsYaBoyBrandyBoy" knows a lot more if you want to check him out. Rad King tends to know some weapon models but gets a few things wrong.
The fact he knows what he does is refreshing however, I definitely appreciated his calling out of the absurdity of the Infiltrator and perforator.
they could explain the AK 112 by saying the AK could stand for "automatic killer", I think it would fit well considering one of the combat shotguns is called the widowmaker. maybe colt wanted a peice of the AK action
honestly i dont have any issue with fallout 4 guns at all , while the lack of an r91 was quite odd it wasnt something i couldnt live without and the guns being cursed is perfectly fine by me
ik this ain’t a rifle but im still annoyed that the 10mm smg wasn’t in fallout 4 shi fun to use in fallout 76
i think the fallout assault rifle would have been better as a higher calibre mmg (like perhaps intended) it's design borrows from the maxim/looks water cooled in design. a barrel mod to swap that out for a lewis style shroud for increased recoil but greatly reduced weight could have been cool. as for the design of an assault rifle to take its place, there are such a wide variety of aesthetic options available to draw inspiration from they could have gone buck wild.
Rad King has got to be top 3 fallout youtubers. Nerbit mantis and radking reign supreme
Glad to see there are other people who are neurotic about mistakes with firearms like me. 🤣🤣🤣
I still prefer the idea that Mr. New Vegas is a ghoulified Wayne Newton who kept his normal voice because of an abnormally high Luck stat.
I actually just recently ran across a combat rifle with the double projectile legendary on it out in the wild. So I turned it into my new sniper and renamed it The Doublemint Gun and it is a beast
Woo it's 2023 and we are still getting fallout content from the best f*** yeah all hail the rad king!
Love this guy. Only guy I watch to fall asleep, not that he's boring but its just nice to fall asleep to commentary lmfao
Just want to mention a small thing about the r91 likely being called G3 in the files
The reason for it likely being called g3 in the files is because both the fact that Cetme is not well known but also that earlier G3 variants had wooden furniture.
Theres also an unobtainable infiltrator in the armory in NV inside mick and ralphs
Can't wait for the Bozar
Maybe a reason for the large influx of foreign made weapons is because the US (which remain the sole superpower besides China since WW2) invested heavily into importing foreign made weaponry. Also if you notice a lot of weapons actually producers by the US post divergence we’re almost exclusively made for dealing with the resource riots the same also goes for things such as riot gear and the T-45 version of PA after T-51 replaced it on the Alaska front
One rifle to rule them all....
Lincoln repeater good times till you ran out of 45 70 gov round really rare ammo
The distinctive handguard and the position of the magwell are dead giveaways.
good way to pass time after i have finished my class work also i always enjoy your videos keep up the good work
I love the video it is amazing. But as a Firearms enthusiast. It is a magazine not a clip. That was my only issue. Thank you for taking the time to remaster an old video and update lore and facts.
The handmade rifle is actually based off a reddit post where a guy used the head of a shovel and bent it into the ak reciever hence why the stock is a shovel handle the rest came from a parts kit
they should have made it a unique weapon
@@emilienvanlinthout6505 would have made it more special indeed but ✨bethesda✨
@@emilienvanlinthout6505. In a way, it kind of is since it was only introduced with the Nuka World DLC.
the AK-112 could be Swedish too. There are two Swedish carbines (AK-4 and AK-5), where the 'AK' stands for Automat Karbin.
Also some post-war gunsmith could've just made them
Mentioned the M1 Garand though missing a mention for "This Machine" found in Fallout New Vegas
My personal favorite unique in the entire game.
