    Also until the client can accurately describe what they actually want we are all safe

    For now, we are safe, the AI can't do a consistent art, but the clock is ticking against us

    Problem is when you need to have 8different shots of same shape. Now AI have no possibility to create this

    We are at such an interesting point in creative history. I've been designing professionally since 1993. I started on ilustrator 88 and photoshop v1. I was down graded in my degree for over use of computers but was the first of my year group to get a job. You will never be able to translate what's in your mind to an ai😂 construct as it has defined set of instruction and parameters. They may be fast but they have limited output posibilties

      1993? :O wow, that's pretty cool!! Always love hearing insights from people who've obviously seen multiple rounds of technological changes. Thanks for the comment!

    HAHAHA Love it! I've been exploring AI and have noticed that it tends to emulate more than simulate. My experience began with Software's like Cosa After Effects, Electric Image, and 3D Studio on DOS operating system, also evolving from linear to non-linear editing. Photography has also been a hobby of mine, underscoring the importance of adaptation in both domains. Houdini stands out for its unique approach, and the way we create with it is distinct. The closest platform I've encountered that uses similar logic is ComfyUI, which utilizes models and modules. In my limited research, I've found that most subscription-based AI tools are not practical for production and more like a fundraiser platforms. While AI is technically impressive, it still lacks in originality, consistency, and control when it comes to details and art. I believe that developing node graph logic can accelerate our adaptation. AI still requires significant input, and I view SideFX as a particularly innovative and transformative player in this field. Thoughts on this?

    AI is not going to replace VFX artists and motion designers.. use midjourney long enough and you start to run into frustrating limitations at what it can do.. you're often just "rolling the dice" until you get the image you were hoping for.. this is an incredibly inefficient way to work

    wtf I did NOT know you could just sculpt cloth like this...thats awesome

    • @PaulEsteves28
      @PaulEsteves28  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed, the vellum brush is super fun. It's also cool when you have an existing shot and you want to sculpt some extra wrinkles without destroying the current look. Just turn it into cloth and sculpt them in!

    Out of all artists, I do think vfx artists are at the safer end of the AI chopping block. However, yes, the world is moving fast and soon many of our skills will be automated so it’s a good opportunity to either capitalize on AI or to look for opportunities elsewhere.

      i think it highly depends on the department. I can see tasks like roto and cleanup be the first to go, heck they even could already be gone I think. Next is animation (who needs rigging if AI does the anim e.g straight from footage), modelling and comp to a high degree. FX/sims will probably be the last to fall although I could see flesh/muscle/skin/cloth and maybe water to be taken over sooner than explosions let alone magical FX

    I tried to recreate flips or water animations or stills or whatever simulation stuff on ai and it looks always garbage, so yeah for now I think houdini artists are safe

    • @PaulEsteves28
      @PaulEsteves28  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've seen some pretty cool stuff from AI, but, in terms of actually controlling the output, yeah, it's still far from that.. Luckily ;)

  • @KevBinge
    @KevBinge 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The cloth thing you made was way more flexible than the plagiarism machine could output. Not only that, but you could animate it and do lots of other things with it, as you’re a DAMN good artist.
    Will “AI” take over? That’s up to the consumers. If the public is ok with that garbage (many are because… reasons,) then yeah, it’s Coffee Time. If copyright stands, and fair use is dropped as a defense (the only defense the scrapers have right now,) then we have a great future.
    It’s $$$$ to train a model and after the “Ai bros” burned so many artists, good luck getting quality data to train on lol! Getty is but I see a backlash coming once the “royalties” amount to what Spotify artists get or worse. No thank you.
