Fun fact: Senator Tillman was actually annoyed at how much money the USN of the time was spending on incremental classes and wanted to short-circuit the entire process and jump straight to the end.
AKSHULY JINGLES the enemy team could have just run for it an won on points; they'd have hit 1000 before Came's team caught up even at 2:1 points lead, *and* they'd have done it before Came entered Bravo if he hadn't had a chance to kill anything. ... wait, what are you doing with that shotgun?
Was looking to the comments to see whether someone else had mentioned it. This basically explains why so many people fail to run away in battles. They can't calculate that a 2:1 capcircle advantage is not enough if the enemy needs "X" amount of points to win and you need more than "two times X".
seriously a shotgun that's amateur hour for someone like this it says currently in the combat information center of an ssbn that's enough fire power joke over oh and the tried in nuclear missile about to fall on your head isn't that actual nuclear methyl
I will add further: the enemy team, in the moment, could've easily calculated they'd win off points, but couldn't judge if slowy mcslowface would've made it to the cap on time, so blindly running away isn't a complete guarantee. It would, therefore, be wise to have the stealthy and speedy Somers start contesting and flipping a cap circle, say, oh I don't know, C for example, to prevent that being a possibility. Then the St. Vincent could've just cut it and run. But guess what the St. Vincent didn't do. So in conclusion, this ackshuly IS a game of throws episode! Just one that's in disguise
That Somers must've been raging at the St. Vincent at the end there - he played a good game. Definitely one of the more hilarious endings I've seen in a long while!
Broadside i think previously featured in the clan battle that had only 2 clan members and 4 mercenaries. Slowy McSlowface successfully completed a lap of the map
Senator Tillman was pissed as US Navy asked for Battleship that were always more expensive than the last until he basically said : Build me the biggest battleship ever and just get done with it. Design ranged from 4 sextuple 16in guns to 18in armed 100 000 tons behemoth
Now imagine the actual end product design of the Tillman designs in the game, an 80,000 ton behemoth with 15x18in guns, and a 16in belt charging around at 25kts. Definitely supership tier.
I'm envious of players who can remember all of the stats of ships / tanks in a game , I can't even remember the stats of the ship or tank I'm currently playing and have to constantly check during the game to remind myself . I went to school with the same people for eight years and I struggle to remember their names , having a good memory is a gift .
If i remember correctly, now when you tab to look at the players if you hover over a ship it will show you the stats (i think stock without skills don't quote me on this one) and consumables. Makes it a lot easier to remember what ships get what :)
Akshuly jingles - Benjamin “Pitchfork” Tillman was a senator in the world war 1 timeframe who got annoyed at the incremental creep of sixe and guns and etc. leading to more expensive ships coming from the Navy, so he said to the Navy Boards, “give me the maximum ship you can”! And boy howdy, did they! Drach has a great post on it.
Howdy yourself. Our Vermont player was the slow steady turtle that won the race. All they really did was steam in a big circle, shooting when the opportunity presented itself, hitting occasionally. Oh it has 1. It's just stupidly well protected. I recall people saying it's got a THICK citadel roof and as is tradition, it's buried in the bottom of the ship.
It's a 100 mm of armor at the bottom of the deck, plus 27 mm of armor on the roof of the citadel, so it's almost impossible to citadel the Puerto Rico with plunging fier, you have to pen it at directly at the water line. Yuro has a review of the ship.
At least it eats crap if it gets hit whilst trying to use all 4 turrets. Firing angles aren't brilliant and it still eats loads of AP pen dmg even if it can magically avoid getting spanked in the citadel.
It’s funny how they say the US slow BBs are based on the Tillman designs, but the slowest Tillman was 25 knots. Tillman 1: 70,000 tons, 26.5 knots, 4x3 16 in guns, 18 in belt Tillman 2: 70,000 tons, 26.5 knots, 4x6 (!!!!) 16 in guns, 13 in belt Tillman 3 (what I think is a precursor to fast battleships): 63,500 tons, 30 knots, 4x3 16 in guns, 13 in belt Tillman 4: 80,000 tons, 25.2 knots, 4x6 (outrageous) 16 in guns, 19 belt Tillman 4-1: 80,000 tons, 25.2 knots, 5x2 and 1x3 18 in guns, 16 in belt Tillman 4-2: 80,000 tons, 25.2 knots, 5x3 18 in guns, 16 in belt
Yep he's back at it again in the Vermont, I came on your broadside was featured almost a year ago using the same ship es the famous guy who said Chomp in the battle chat
I would suggest Moskva got bitch slapped by the St Vincent - there's a clear line of sight to where the Vinnie was at the time. Also, being clan battles - radar gets used regardless of ones ability to shoot at what gets found. The boys (and girls) are using voice comms.
Just waiting for the day when Tillman IV-2 becomes the supership for this branch of the USN BB line. It will be glorious to sail around blasting broadsides with fifteen 18" guns.
I love this ship, but at the same time nothing is more frustrating then sending 12 Volkswagon Beetles down range only to score overpens or mild penetration hits to the tune of 5000...and wait 40 more seconds to send more disappointment down range.
"Actually, Jingles", Tillman was making his push for maximum battleships pre-1920 as the nasty old git died in 1918. If I recall correctly, the concept itself was fully put paid by the first Washington naval treaty a few years later, not that the Navy ever wanted the damn things in the first place lol
Actually Jingles, this update (or the last one) added the ability to see the allies's stats and choice of consumables and also enemies's best possible values for the main stats and also all the possible consumables they can pick. You can also see the stats for those consumables. Said best stats do not include temporary buffs such as Halsey's reload buff or, for example, the -10% main battery reload time when Fearless Brawler is active (DD skill)
That was a game of throws...at the point the Vermont was moving to CAP ZONE B at 13:39 the red team is going to get to 1000 pts before I CAME's team will :)
Actually Jingles the US Navy called them Standard type battleships. Also the reason we kept these battleships through to WWII was that interwar treaties meant we couldn’t really make new designs. So we just upgraded what we had. The North Carolina-class were built to comply with treaty restrictions and first drafted in 1935 before the war. So the US Navy wasn’t lagging behind as that was what other nations were doing too.
Vermont. nothing is more fun then sinking the enemy CV 4 minutes into the battle with a well placed Vermont volly from 27km away. man seeing that stv sitting broadside 10km away from a vermont was pretty funny, not sure what he was thinking.
Actually Jingles, in CB, if the team is on comms, it's not unusual for radar to be used by ships that can't shoot the target if a teammate asks for radar.
Vermont is my favorite ship in the game. Don't mind the slow speed or reload. I noticed that this guy was running reload equipment where I use the range equipment. With that Vermont has just a little over 28km range without spotter is awesome to delete carriers at the beginning of the match.
Here's the Battle Destroyer Vermont (BD1) (hey, it's WoW where making stuff up the order of the day, I'm just doing my part!) screaming around the map at a blistering 22 knots, flipping cap circles left right and center, swamping lesser craft by flooding them with its massive wake while obliterating enemy warships with guns the size of small county. Only Senator Tillman could concoct such a beast.
It is hard to appreciate how slow the Vermont is, until you watch the player enter Cap C at FULL SPEED, cap the point, never slowed down, and still had 1 or 2 ship lengths to go before exiting the cap. Pretty much any other Tier X ship would have needed to 'slam on the brakes' to keep from exit the cap, before capping it.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JINGLES!!!! I only say that because I know YOU and I share a birthday month...and I believe we are about two weeks difference in our age...
"Actually Jingles..." The Vermont only capped twice. Never finished the last cap. Just sayin... ^-^ Man, i've wanted to "Actually Jingles" for a while now. This is the first time i've actually gotten to do it. I feel positively giddy.
Respectfully Jingles, all you need to do to see if a ship has access to radar is hold tab and hover over it in the list of ships presented in that interface. Sure, sometimes they may have a choice, but it's best to assume that they chose radar, as in this case of a clan battle.
When the enemy team is about to win, your back is to the wall and there's nowhere to run you can still always hope that the enemy team will do something stupid.
13:52 Actually Jingles, the enemy team would not have lost on points in this situation. It's a very simple calculation, because Mr Broadside's team has 2x the number of cap circles but needs more than 2x the number of points that the enemy team needs to reach 1000. The enemy team is at ~900, so needs 100 more points, while Broadside's team has ~775, so needs 225 more points.
Fun fact: AlimonyPayment is a joke made directly at one of WOWS worst and most infamous dictators on the NA server. As he used to pay players to be in his clan and that clan has now fallen apart.. No names will be mentioned out of respect.
The saying up shit creek has its roots in a saying from 1700's England. Back when most sailors were conscripted England built a naval hospital that was up the creek from the harbor. When people went to the hospital from the ship it was called going up the creek. It meant you were in bad health. It then evolved from there.
The second you said something about ambush i knew 100% there was no ambush and only one of them chose violence. The second Charlie started flipping i knew the enemy team had lost. I mean i don't even play WoWs it's just a simple strategy call. And boy was it a bad one. Glad to see ICOYB get to delete something, very satisfying for him too i think. Nice video.
If the St. Vincent didn't go for the head on fight (while sailing broadside) and just stayed undetected, the enemy team would have won as they were ahead enough on points.
Senator Tillman wanted to know if there was an ultimate battleship the Navy could design that wouldn't be superseded by any foreign design. The Navy obliged with designs, but never wanted the battleships built. Oddly, the Tillman designs were all designed as fast battleships (25 to 30 knots). Wikipedia has a great entry about Tillman Battleships under the title Maximum Battleship.
Actually Jingles, everyone should be able to tell if a ship might be a radar threat. When the battle starts you can hover over the ships and it shows their loadout options
Good game. I highly recommend viewing Drachinifels's YT about Tillmann Battleships. WoW's Vermont is actually pretty mild compared with some of the designs drawn up.
Small correction Mr.jingles sir Senator Tillman whom caused these designs started his annoying the navy campaign in the 19 teens not the 1920s as he was annoyed by the navy asking for more money to buy the New Mexico class battleships
I really enjoy playing this game, i've been grinding the US battleship tier. Right now i got 2 tier 5 the New Mexico. The only thing that I complain about is the camera views, they all suck to me. I can't wait 2 be able 2 play the Vermont & Iowa class battleships, I really hope that they will add US Wisconsin!! I'm a little bias with US Wisconsin (my family is from Wisconsin that's why).
I just reinstalled the game after a 3 or 4 year break. I think the biggest reason is that with the relaunching of the Texas from drydock I wanted to sail her around some.
This is a thing among Unicum players. Jump in as Mercs in a Clan Battle with lower skilled teams and try to carry or have a greater impact on the game.

You could say, he came on the St. Vincent's broadside.
