That means on average you will need 41 random bundles or 41,000 doubloons ON AVERAGE to get La Pampa. You could have poor luck and it requires much more. IMO this ship is too expensive to go get, especially considering the playstyle is a bit boring at t10. (reminder I'm not much of a torp boat player so you may like it still) I also think this is particularly bad timing for an event this expensive with Black Friday deals on right now. That is a much better event to engage with if you want to spend money on this game.

PQs math is not correct. You get 3 tokens in the common rewards too. So the average is 6.6. And you need 184 tokens after using all coal and coupon, which leaves us at 27 bundles needed on average. Still too much

The forward facing guns don’t have good dpm though, 5.8km is average for torp boats, the consumables take years without the F key. The only thing that’s really good about the ship is the heal and torp dpm
@@CorsairCombat13 exactly my point. 5.8km is avg conceal now, and the fact that you can get consumables back fast enough when timed right is still not OP. And while the DPM isn't good, having forward facing guns means you can expose less of yourself while fighting. Plus the 30 torps and heal.
I mean, it is certainly strong but it's not going to be that crazy. The guns are forward, but they're 10k lower DPM than Shima and the ballistics aren't particularly impressive. It also doesn't get improved dispersion and the ship is pretty low HP, meaning it won't win gunfights against anything but the most mediocre torp boats. The torps have incredible DPM and above average reaction time, but that 10.5km range is nowhere near enough to feel comfortable as a true torp boat when so many ships have 12km radars these days. The consumables are strong, but have a long cooldown if you don't get the Combat Instructions active. The biggest weakness though is speed. This is the third slowest DD at t10 and it lacks a Speed Boost. It's 34 knots base, only beaten by Sherman at 33.9 knots and Tromp at 33.5 knots (but Tromp has a speedboost). The short torp range is going to force it to play in radar range and it's never going to have the speed to escape that easily. It's going to be a ship that packs an insane amount of torpedo firepower, but is other wise pretty easy to catch and kill. The gunpower is nowhere near enough to beat other DDs and the ship is going to struggle to avoid radar ships. It'll be a feast or famine ship. VERY strong when it has nothing to hunt it down, VERY weak when it has to deal with an organized teamplay.
super-low concealment torp boats are potato magnets. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing these things sailing up and down the 1 and 10 lines, avoiding like the plague any spotting, capping, or otherwise useful positioning play ☺☺☺
Is it strong enough in torps already that making the guns better is a good way to round it out? I guess the key is how much it improves the guns versus how much more you can improve the torps.
Torps have very good reaction time of 7.3 base, would be 7 if you build into torp speed and then 4 to 5 seconds real world with the spaghetti code. Torp range is very workable, could be another contender for Wild Weasel play style alongside F3 Shima, about as much fun in ranked as there is. Dev Strikes all round!
Non-gunboat DDs are just hit or miss in todays meta where most teams just sit and hide on the back lines. Its the same reason shima isnt as good as it used to be. I personally LOVE torp boats and the la pampa is super fun, its just that some games youll be either chasing spotting damage because the reds just sit in the back and hide, or youll get radar'd and annihilated. Same story as every other torp boat nowadays.
i feel like these type of ships are good on a pushing flank becuase they can prevent the possibility of a counter attack w/ torps, sure low damage but hey a wins a win

You get a 20 percent coupon towards the tokens so you only need about 304. If you have about 12K gold, with the other coal for tokens you mentioned, that’s all you need. It’s not bad really it’s only 12K gold out of pocket if you have the coal handy.
aye, I still think one of the best Torpedo DD's is the Gearing. This could be interesting, but La Pampa does suffer from those short range (for Tier 10) torpedoes.

@@FrostBeam009 Why? it actually has a fairly low DPM with torps, Yodo's normal torps with 15km range do 228kDPM, Kita's normal torps are 12km range 70kDPM, Deeps are 20km 124kDPM. And to get that underwhelming torp loadout you have no AA, no guns, no armor. I have one, yea it is amusing to launch 40 torps, but you can do it 2-3 times per game and the rest of the time have zero impact other than being a target. Heck Shim does almost twice the DPM with torps and you can't see it from 8km away.

It's a better Jutland and you say that it's meh? Many top DD's at high tier have less than 10.5, such as Jutland, harekaze. These torps are better than Benham torps because they have better conceal and similar speed. And you played the torp boat wrong. You never stacked the first set on top of each other. You never fully used the torp power. It seems that this isn't the DD for you, but for players good in Jutland and Benham, it's going to be OP.

Both times I've come across a La Pampa, I devstruck it with tops while it was sitting in smoke... which may say more about the tester than the ship.

Apples and oranges. Jager has low detection and many low power torps. La Pampa has higher detection and stronger torps.
