    Dear doctor, thank for your very informative video, last year I used for two months oxymetazoline and I stopped using it, so Im wondering is it enough time to be prone to hypertrophic turbinate together with low humidity winter?, my problem started last winter and at that time I have diagnosed with mite allergy and since then I cannot breath even taking allergy medicaments well. Yesterday an ETN have diagnosed I have hypertrophic turbinate

    • @SinusDoctor1
      @SinusDoctor1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, It's possible that the use of oxymetazoline, alongside the low humidity of winter, contributed to your current nasal congestion. Generally, using oxymetazoline for only two months would be unlikely to cause a significant long-term change in your nasal tissue. If your current allergy medication isn't helping, it might be worthwhile discussing other treatment options with your doctor. This could include strategies to manage your mite allergy, other medications, or potential surgical interventions for your hypertrophied turbinates.

If the condition is not improving after 1 month, my doctor suggested me to go for radiofrequency turbinate reduction.

    Hello, doctor. I’ve been dealing with allergic rhinitis, mild sinusitis, and hypertrophy of the inferior bilateral turbinates, mainly on the right side. I also have a deviated nasal septum towards the left, which causes frequent nasal blockage, throat infections, and facial pain, especially during seasonal changes. Despite various treatments, these symptoms persist throughout the year, and I experience recurrent infections with noticeable turbinate enlargement. I would appreciate your advice on long-term relief or preventive care options. Thank you!

    Hello! I had a CT Sinus done & was told by my ENT that I have Chronic Sinusitis. I followed up with my ENT yesterday & she looked up my nose & said that my turbinates are swollen/inflamed. My BIGGEST complaint is my stuffy nose. My ENT offered me (2) solutions with fixing my stuffy nose & those solutions were surgery, where she’ll go up my nose & open/expand my nasal passages more or a turbinate reduction procedure. She is referring me to a Rhinologist for a second opinion. My ENT doesn’t want to go straight to surgery bc she said my Chronic Sinusitis isn’t bad enough (in her opinion) for surgery. I would like to mention that I had the Flu in Nov 2022 & I got COVID-19 in Feb 2023. So, she’s thinking that the flu & COVID could have made things worse for me. My question is, other than surgery, what are other ways that can help reduce turbinate swelling? Or does it depend on what is causing the swelling?

    Thanks for this nice explanation. I think I have enlarged turbinates in both holes of my nose. The cause of it I don't know. I think I am allergic to inhaling cigarette smoke from others... I never called it allergy though. I was young so from time to time it happens. But then lateron during and after a flu, I still cannot breathe. The otrivine nasal drops or sprays helped a lot... so I can live my everyday life normally. I also have sleep apnea meaning during sleep I suddenly cannot breathe through my nose and my mouth will not respond to breathe. So I get nightmares all the time. But the real cause of swollen turbinates is unknown. I need to breathe, so I need to keep using the nasal drops. Saline solutions do not help. If you advice me to stop using the otrivine nasal drops accordingly... and the swelling of the turbinates continue at daily basis... means I have to get surgery or breathe my mouth all the time. I am very fatigued overtime to see a doctor... so I needed to help myself. So I can breathe. But the cause is till unknown and no doctor wants to help.

    • @SinusDoctor1
      @SinusDoctor1  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I understand your struggle with nasal congestion and sleep apnea. It's crucial, though, to avoid long-term self-medication as it can lead to complications. As an ENT specialist, I strongly recommend seeking professional medical help. They can identify the root cause of your symptoms and provide targeted treatment, which may not necessarily involve surgery. I know you're feeling tired and frustrated, but don't lose hope. There are doctors who can help. Your health is worth it.

      Hi, it takes upto 2 months after nose and sinus surgery for the results to be experienced. Please take 2nd opinion from ENT Doctor

    I have large turbinate that block my airway and post nasal drip in and out that I choke from my nose/throat. Also feel mucus stuck in my throat that I can’t clear out. Also have cobblestones in the throat with tonsils not looking good. They gave me 2 nasal sprays Ipratropium bromide 21mcg and fluticasone propionate 50 mcg but not resolving anything what do you recommend?

      Hi, please get a CT scan PNS done to check for any sinus issues. GERD is a cause we have to rule out.
