I forget to mention that apparently there is also a range stat, where you have damage full off at certain distances. But who knows how that works. Cheers!
And only lazerrr weapon don,t have the weapon damage drop off at all
Great video man! I have been looking into durable damage a lot over the past couple of weeks also. Definitely became a bigger conversation with the new mech. My hope is that the devs add these types of metrics, in a more watered down version, into the game. I appreciate all the solid work the community has done so far in figuring out these numbers but would love some simplified numbers in game.
I appreciate the breakdown. It's way easier to follow along compared to other content creators.
New mission: dont worry about fall off. We be all up in yo face!!!
This is laughably complex. Whilst i enjoy playing HD2, it's gotta decide if it wants to be a horde shoooter or mil-sim.
And these numbers aren't mentioned in-game, they're only in the games code, why hide these values?
Helldivers always had been merging both concepts. HD1 is more arcade, HD2 is more mil-sim, but both games are vague about mechanics.
However, Helldivers has never been a pure horde shooter. It is an extraction shooter that has hordes. Usually extraction shooter is heavy on stealth kills and you never want to attract enemy attention, however in helldivers you're in an open map. You still want some stealth otherwise its a non-stop assault, but the game gives you tons of options to fight in the open so you're easily lured into a combat when its not ideal. Like any extraction shooters, ideally you want to do objectives without any enemy seeing you.
@@Misfiring89 You missed my point. If HD2 is in-deed trying to merge these genres as you say, then why hide all of these advanced stats? If its because they want to make the UI less intrusive for the casual player, then they should not have gone mil-sim. Because at the moment it's coming across as an arcade sandbox shooter.
@@Hunt8rJob I'm not sure how to explain this. Flavor? The feel? Its clear they never had the intention to go full military sim, they're using it to craft a specific experience. No other games play like HD2 does, so they did achieved that vision. Sure, the game need some fixes and balancing work, but the overall vision is a success.
This isn't especially complex, particularly compared to physical simulation models in a lot of actual mil-sim titles. All of the values and their interactions are essentially arbitrary and have little relationship to physical reality, take the explosion immunity on limbs for instance - that's a very abstracted, game-y idea. Or having a discreet value for knockback, instead of simulating a force diagram, material penetration interactions, etc. I don't think this 'complexity' has anything to do with any mil-sim ambitions. What it does do is give the designers many levers to adjust the results of shooting a particular weapon at a particular enemy. Without lots of separate values to adjust, it would be much more difficult to make the weapons feel different, and the enemies you're shooting feel different too.
Durable
Arc Thrower able to shoot off the doors of what? Sea containers? seeker tanks? what is he saying there?
The Amazon lockers
Have you not played the game?
Durable.
Hey love the videos
DURABLE!
I love dmg fall off. All guns lose their dmg the inch after the barrel end. I love numbers that don't matter. As your dmg is ???? who knows. Breaking both legs of the hulk will kill it. all the bots die if you break at least 1 leg
