      Currently 3 years old still acts like a pup and 10 years. My oldest do ever was 16 years old, it was my first dog I bought when I was 12 years old he died a month and a half before our first baby was born. And my other 16 year old died a couple of years ago, she was a rescue. Actually they all rescued me. My health always improves with a dog around. Furries are fun and loving, keep sharing Rachel and pups.

    As someone that’s been studying soil microbiology as a hobby for the last decade, I was shocked when Rachel suggested filling a small pool with quality microbe rich soil for the puppers. I’m mainly shocked because it’s not typical speak for a pet YT’er, but also shocked that I hadn’t thought of that myself! Excellent and engaging content as always!

    The exercise of my two pounds Chihuahua is just 15minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening.
    She has so much energy and runs like a lightning, and we have hardwood floor.
    When she wakes up leaves the crate never walks just run.
    Hope nothing happens with her joints later on.
    It is cold already and we can’t go outside.

We know about redirecting him and giving him a proper toy but he can nip at our ankles and even bite. We do not rough house so this must be his instinct. It says exercise them for 15/20 mins but is that then when they go for free play? I have a Shorkie who will play like mad for an hour. Also after day 2 which is today she's OK to go in her crate but if I am meant to work 8.30-17:00 should I do huge play before for... sleep... then sleep... then when she wakes wee them some free play until I have lunch and tire her out more and repeat? Your videos are the most helpful things!

    Hi! Thank you so much for all your videos they are so helpful. I just got an 8 week old dachshund and I’m having a hard time regulating her play/ sleep schedule. She wants to play/ spazzes out between 3-6 in the morning but likes to sleep the rest of the day. I try to keep her awake but she’s uninterested in playing unless it’s on her time.how do i get her to stay awake during the day and sleep at night and not wake up so early

    • @RachelFusaro
      @RachelFusaro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sienna Stevens continue avoiding letting her nap when she should be up. And maybe keep play time intensity down a bit, so she doesn’t get TOO tired out!

    • @Sophie-xs6cw
      @Sophie-xs6cw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sienna Stevens another thing you could do is ignore your puppy(I know it will be hard but it will be worth it) when it’s excited early in the morning. Eventually she’ll get bored and fall back asleep. This way she will be more energized during the day, and it’ll become easier to change her sleep schedule!!

  • @animalobsessed1
    @animalobsessed1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    10:10 lol, how about if the puppy is the one who doesn't know her own strength? My adult dog didn't want to play with her at all for the first week or so, because he's so gentle and was scared to hurt her. Even now that he sometimes does play, she more often than not just harasses him into it. He has a chunk of fur missing on his throat, and plenty of other scratches on his belly and balls. I stop the puppy whenever I notice it, sometimes I even lock him up for his own protection. (He tries to hide in the crate, but she'll just follow and corner him, so I help him out by closing the door.)
    She doesn't do it as much to us humans, because we defend ourselves, but our adult dog is just way too tolerant. At least he knows that he can come to us for protection, and frequently uses that option (he's not cuddly, but if she harasses him, he'll jump up on the couch right next to us, or even onto our laps, so we can defend him).

    Hey Rachel!
    I have an 11 week old Golden Doodle. He loves playing with me and with his toys a bunch!
    I have tried to play some brain games with him to get his mind stimulated to tire him out. He will do it with me for a couple of minutes and than will get bored of it. Do you have any tips for trying to keep your puppy focused on a game with you? I have also fed him his food in a Kong before. He likes the kong, but will only attempt to get his food out of it for a few minutes at a time. I find myself redirecting him to it constantly, and so I will take breaks with him and have him come back to it later.

    My pup is 5 months. We have a multilevel home so I make him go up and down the stairs as slow as possible. He does love to run and jump. We’re working on having “all four on the floor.” I was told I can use a flirt pole as long as I keep it to the ground. But then I heard it’s not good for pups. Any experience on flirt poles? My pup is a small minpin. Thx!

      Sounds like you have an awesome plan! I haven’t used flirt poles but have always wanted too!

      @@RachelFusaro Thanks for responding. And thank you for making videos on separation anxiety in everyday life. I am excited to start implementing closing the door behind me every time I walk into a different room. It’s simple, yet genius! You are one of a kind. Thanks for all you do for this community!!

      kamea 32 I think some stairs can be fine. It’s when a lot of time is spent on stairs that I’d be concerned

      @@RachelFusaro thanks. She has to go down the stairs to go potty like every hour she is 10 weeks old do you think that would be an issue?

      My dog got paralized because we incoraged him up and down the stairs. I'm not trying to scare you, just listen to your dog, if he's scared don't push him to do it, if he's comforable doing it let him. He knows what is best for him

      What kind of dog do you have? Puppies need walks, play and train, a bunch of times a day. See Rachel's training tips, see kikopup and pans Dog Academy, there is lots to train your pup, it's play for yhem, together you and your pup will bond and poop out.Prayers to the journey and find joy each day

    My puppy wants to eat leaves. I try to take them out of his mouth, but there are so many on my lawn here and there.

    Yeah dogs after 30 lbs even if puppies need to have to walk those stairs, it gets ridiculous carrying them up and down, lol.

    You are great BUT I'm really put off when you call the dogs "the damm rescue pups". I'm certain you don't feel about them like the word "damm" implies. Perhaps it's my age, my generation that interrupts that expression to mean "disgustfull dogs" etc. Please concider choosing a more loving adjectives re your babies. I repeat, otherwise, I repeat, you are great teacher!
