Thank you for this! It helped me pinpoint subtle sound differences i wasn't that aware of. Greetings from another language buff 👋 looking forward to future content
I'm glad that the video helped you be a little more aware of the subtle differences. I think the concept itself is not that difficult, most people just never learn about it.
It's definitely a tricky sound for many people! Not sure if this helps, but try to pronounce a (German) i with rounded lips. As in, say the i sound, then slowly round your lips as if you're trying to kiss someone while still saying i. That'll get you very very close to the correct sound. Good luck with your üdventures.
@@emisnikki-polygloddessThat's how I'd describe it as well. Ü has the mouth shaped like U but the tongue shaped for the German I, Ä is the same with A + E and Ö is O + E.
10:17 Comparing the level of emotional excitement that this triggers in me, this was almost as good as Greta Thunberg‘s „How dare you!“ I get easily scaroused: “Yes, Ma‘am! Lecture me some more, please!“ 😊 I watched your recent German-names-in-Japanese-Anime Video first (newly discovering your channel), and thought: she makes for a good Anime character herself! The vibe certainly stuck: I might be watching your other videos with the emotional expectation I would watch Animes. 😊 (Describing yourself as „Polygloddess“ in the channel name, unconsciously might have played some role as well in getting me overly excited.)
Glueckwuensch! Muttersprachler Ebene erreicht. Gut gemacht! I'm literally staring at very saxon teeth and listening to perfect murrican accent and i'm just floored with the dissonance. I guess you know about 50languages (Goethe Verlag). Idk if you want to be an AA interpreter but you clearly could.

One day I will pronounce ü... one day... :D

Why isn't the schwa there, it's literally the most difficult vowel to get a grasp of ?
