    congrats on the 4 yrs., i am at 2 yrs, many health benefits, including 84 lbs gone. which also was a side affect. As u can see by my name, i was going for healthy too I started at 238, 5'1" tall, been heavy since puberty., 66 yrs young, low thyroid, almost bed ridden by chronic fatigue, fibro, stomach & bowel issues, etc. I healed them all and got off 5 of 6 meds. No more cane, and a whole list of aliments,m just gone. I just love it, the simpliest meals, like Chef AJ, potatoes and broccoli, or similar. I haven;t slipped yet. Since giving up salt, oil, flour, alcohol, sugar and caffeine, i don't even crave anything but whole veg and fruit. Same here, my life is so different, i was struggling to get to the bathroom and something to eat.I now can do 7000 ,50 min's, no resting, all at once .. I feel so much better and younger too. . I had to stop with the nuts, to start losing again , after a yr... i got my hubby eating my soups , he asks for it now, in his thermos for work. He has lost 40 lbs and has more energy. I use it in place of sauces & dressings. I listen to all those plant based dr's too, . All of the above as to the whys !! My dr will only take my blood once a yr, 13 months..But he is amazed that i got off all those meds, and the weight loss, he calls me his star patient and tells hubby to listen to me & eat what i eat !! I do have pics tho, i am amazed at how big i actually was !! My support is listening to Chef AJ, Tami and Tom Kramer , .you, plant based Melissa, well your world, & more.💜👍💗💗💗

      Patty2MAD regaining health and mobility How do you do it? I have sincerely tried WFPB at least three times and just couldn’t stick to it. The food was so bland and it felt like a prison sentence. I just hate food without salt, too! 😩

      So great to read. I also follow simnett nutrition, avantgarde, cooking with plants, chef jana and plant based news. Since covid19 I got tipped off and joined MISFITS MARKET that delivers organic produce weekly for a fair price, excellent exciting new plants to ease the constant worrying. Check it out if you too are in need of vegs and fruit.

      @@lisalmenard3828 well, after going without salt, oil, sugar, etc few weeks, i didn't crave them any more. I craved brussels sprouts, & other veg & fruit.Plus, i don't mind left over, so batch cooking is great for me/us, hubby too. I now taste the veg & fruit taste, esp after giving up oil, which coats our taste bugs , so we need even more salt & sugar, etc.. I just use spices now, celery seeds kinda gives a salty taste. I look forward to my next meal of pot based veg soup, just like the 1st. I did a whole pot of carrots, pot's & turnip last night, mashed it,added green peas, & oh so yummy, . Having same for lunch & supper. But for supper i am air frying slabs of it , see how that turns out, i watched Chef AJ do it ❤️❤️❤️❤️🧡🧡🧡💛💛💛💚💚💚💙💙💙💜💜💜plus i was so unhealthy & sick, i would try anything
      , & it worked for me

    Congratulations on 4 years!!
    I have been vegan for almost 5 years, but certainly not WFPB the whole time. I had a lot of health benefits from just going vegan, but still needed to lose weight so I went on the starch solution in 2016 and had great success...until I lost my “why” and regained 1/2 of what the starch solution took off.
    This January I decided to get back on the WFPB wagon and for accountability I started uploading videos too. Just found your channel & am going to subscribe! I’m the only person I know that is doing a WFPB diet. It can be lonely. I am happy for connections with like-minded eaters. 😂

    Never heard of the food pyramid interesting. I am not eating to lose weight but more for health benefits. Endometriosis, Fibroids, High BP & Lupus . Heading in the plant based direction slowly phasing out meat. Only 3 months in and my menstrual flow is the lightest it’s ever been in 11 yrs. skin is improving and mood is better. I am also dropping weight rapidly. Loving it this time round l am approaching 50, so no time to waste. Thanku for sharing. 🎓🤗❤️

    I have watched some of your videos as I go through the beginning of eating WFPB. Thank you for sharing your story. I remember reading your FOK success story but didn't connect you and the story until now. I am motivated by my health: borderline high blood pressure and cholesterol that was too high. I went from being a picky eater as a child to now putting in non starchy veggies in wherever I see an opportunity. I'm only eight weeks in. But I'm excited to try new veggies, including beats and shredded zucchini. I riced my first cauliflower too!

    This video came out at just the right time for ME. I started going down the wrong path with this COVID. Some friends of mine love to bake, and they'd drop off all kinds of baked goods (sweets, pies, etc.). And I began indulging; replacing my healthy breakfast with sweet rolls and coffee, baked goods and coffee, a piece of pie and coffee. And it tasted great during eating it, but within 10 minutes, I could feel my body get sluggish and my stomach feet horrible. So, now I have to hit the re-set button and get back on track. This is the hardest part - getting re-started. But as I sat down to watch TH-cam with my sweet bread and coffee - and started feeling that ill-health start to fill my body - your video popped up. Thank you! I know I have to gather all my mental strength and get back on board. OMG - I remembered my 'why.. THANKS.

    • @sarvi1483
      @sarvi1483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remembering you're not hurting just yourself helps greatly to stay on track. When the "why" includes the wellbeing of our planet and only home, of wildlife, of enslaved animals, of countless other humans, of our economy, of our future...it becomes impossible to forget and dismiss it. Good luck :)

    So good about having patience. We have been abusing our bodies for so long that it will take time to recover. A good year is a realistic time frame to just enjoy the process and don't worry about the results, they will come. Of course, I'm preaching to myself because after 2 weeks WFPB no oil, no sugar, I'm like, why am I still in the same size pants?!?!? Lol. But people are already noticing the weight is coming off, most likely noticing the inflammation around my face and tummy going down. I'm going to hang onto the words of wisdom I just wrote and trust the process for a whole year. Lol. God bless!

    I admire your total dedication to your WFPB lifestyle and your encouragement to others. I have been WFPB for over a year after following a vegan diet. Began by being vegetarian for 10 years because of ny love for all animals. I was never really overweight but wanted a healthy and nutritious diet. At 5' 1" I weigh 43 kgs. I do find myself quite isolated with my eating choices and my family won't be encouraged to adapt to WFPB. Congratulations Brittany.

      Good for you to not give up. Best tip: focus on real food. The food groups Brittany gave fruit, vegies, legumes, whole grains. Many people find it easier to not cheat at all, even a little, as this derails their whole plan.

    Yes please on the bloodwork. In my experience as a Canadian I get bloodwork done typically at a check up. The doctor runs whatever the standard tests are which would include cholesterol, iron and sugar. In general the doctor’s office would connect back with you if they felt there was a concern. Would love to know how to go about requesting tests that I didn’t even know existed and their function/purpose to set personal goals. Great video. Thanks for the inspiration and congrats.

    Good points on the keeping up with the research to stay motivated. I've only been at it a month, but I recall not really wanting to eat veg because I was looking at "macros" so when veg hardly has any I couldn't be bothered to eat it. Now I know the amazing benefits, I want to stuff it down my face! I find knowing the benefits helps me eat it.
    Bloods is something I've been really into - my watch tells me I'm in the 98th percentile of males for my age group (36) for activity, I also lift weights and am 61kg. Despite that, my LDL was 4.3 at 29! So I don't have the barometer of weight-loss but the bloods keep me motivated.
    Also I'm not very social - but I find I get support from videos like yours that are "real". No fancy cuts, camera setup, location etc. Just feels like you're having a chat with someone. Thanks for uploading your content :-)

    Thanks for the tips. My biggest takeaway was the sauces. I think I needed to hear that right now. Of course I've heard it before but until I became more homebound with the Coronavirus pandemic, my husband and I just ate things that were more simple but boring. I definitely want to spice things up and have go-to sauces that are easy and simple. And that we can store for a few days. Interesting, I have lost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks (I'd like to lose 15 more) because even though I am a stress eater, I'm consciously trying to only eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full. Consciously is the operative word here. I want to make our food last longer so we don't have to go to the store very often and potentially be exposed to the Coronavirus. It has really hit home that I haven't lost any weight since going Plant Based close to 2 years ago because I often overeat. Like, every day. I'm 65 and fairly sedentary. I may change the sedentary lifestyle now too. Weather will be warming up and snow is nearly all melted.

    You offered to do a video on your bloods and it sounds like a lot of people would appreciate it. I don't think I would have had any bad results in my bloods if I had taken a baseline but that wasn't my "why". My aim at the moment is transitioning from vegan (3 months in) towards wholefood plant based (wfpb). Best wishes to everyone reading on their journeys. x

    This is amazing!! Could you please do a video on how you got off of the medicine safely during whole food plant based diet? Did you consult with your doctor? Did you stop the medicine as soon as you started Wfp??

    Thanks for this video. My family watched What The Health a few weeks ago and immediately wanted to switch to WFPB diet. I'm doing fine without the meat, although I do really crave it, but the hardest part is coffee (and Parmesan), which I absolutely love. I have tried every creamer on the market (and recommendations from everyone everywhere) -- and nothing tastes good to me except cow's milk. And I do believe it's meant for baby cows, not humans!

    • @soilikasanen
      @soilikasanen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nutritional yeast tastes like parmesan. I drank 2 litres of organic low fat milk thinking it is healthy. But seeing how calves are "weaned" from their moms, weaned me from dairy. Now even the smell of milk is as appauling as if it was milk from the breast of human woman. You'll get over casomorphins - I did.

    WFPB for me coming from a vegan diet is easy, I love animals I don’t/won’t eat them #simple x

      CarrotShaker Calm down! each time their own. As an ethical vegan who doesn’t like processed junk food my why way a piece of cake... minus the eggs and dairy of course.. (scuzzz the pun) it was intended. #Peace

      CarrotShaker Maybe I could have worded my initial post in a clearer way. I was offering my “Why” which was Brittanys third reason. I’m sorry if you don’t think my reason is valid but to me it’s important. I eat WFPB to heal my body and I will continue to do so because I love it, it’s a bonus that no animals have to suffer and die.

    • @denlea5
      @denlea5 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's good for you, but, a vegan diet is only about not using animals. I actually ate close to a wfpb diet when I still included some animal products than I do now as a vegan for the past decade. Yes, you can be a wfpb vegan, a well as just wfpb, but I don't find giving up processed foods, oils, sugars, refined flours any easier just because of ethics!

    THanks for all this wonderful info! I have been plant based for almost a year. Enjoying experimenting with cooking! Can you advise like you said what bloodwork you had done please?
    I would be interested in knowing what to ask for when the time comes that I want to check blood.

      Lynn Lantz I came across this site on Instagram. She has nearly every salad dressing converted for wfpb diet. I haven't tried them yet but they look pretty good.

    Hi Brittney, I’ve tried to lose weight with plan based, and it didn’t work. My weight continued to go up. And blood sugars as well. I’ve been doing Optivia and have lost 26 pounds. It’s definitely not that healthy. And I would like to get back into this. Do you do any coaching? Enjoyed your interview with Dr. Greger. Your so awesome 👏

    • @soilikasanen
      @soilikasanen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greetings from Finnish M.D. There's difference between vegan diet and WFPBD. Dr. Greger's lecture How Not To Diet has great tips. In some cases, wheat gluten can be an issue. I've made a video about full grains and gluten intolerance: TH-cam -> Kasasen kootut -> Täysjyvä with ENGLISH SUBTITLES. Besides nutrition, sleep and stress management are essential. Tell how it goes 🙂

    Hey Brittany!
    I started WFPB two weeks ago.
    I noticed immediately that I dropped weight from 237 to 227, but the weight kind of hovers there. I'd like to be 200-210.
    Moreover, and more importantly, I am noticing some of the same symptoms I wanted to get away from (heartburn / skipping heart beats, etc) which are coming back a bit. I am using the forksoverknives meal planner, and I see a lot of recipes with hummus, tahini, peanut butter/almond butter.
    I'm trying to get to the bottom of what is still making me feel sick - is it oil, even natural, from almond/peanut butter? Is it the imbalance of including more plant milks (such as in oatmeal, etc), etc.
    What does your plate look like? 1/2 grains? 1/2 veggies? Etc.
    Thank you!
