    With tofu, I've found that if you drain the liquid for about 15 minutes, pat it dry with a paper towel, then slice it up, put in a ziplock bag and put in the freezer for a day, the next day thaw it in the frig, and once thawed coat it in your sauce of choice, then coat it with panko, and if you have a air fryer, cook it at 400 for 15 minutes. The end result is a crispy and more meaty textured tofu, great in stews or stir fries or even on a sandwich.

Place a cookie sheet with heavy cans on top and leave for a couple of hours to get the water out. Take off the heavy top and pat dry. Put oven on 300 degrees F. Spread tofu cubes on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle low sodium soy on top of the cubes then place in the oven for at least 30 minutes. Take them out, eat as snack, put in a baggy, use for sandwiches, stir frys or whatever you like. Delicious!

    Interesting video I’m an old guy now and my kidneys becoming weaker I have worked at eating healthier but it was determined that my potassium levels were extremely high and though I have been health conscious for a long time I had to do some serious changes to my diet which included cutting out completely or limiting a lot of foods o love to eat such as bananas, avocados, tomatoes, many canned foods such as beans, some vegetables, tomato based foods. I’m not vegan but I like many vegetables just more conscious about the potassium so many canned products are not for me. And ones that are are thoroughly rinsed.
    I have cut considerably meat products but still enjoy some and not as often. I’m the guy in a grocery store picking products and on my iPhone checking the potassium levels, LOL.
    Also I was always a big eater eating a lot at settings and the desire is still there for that but I have learned to cut portions greatly for most meals. And if I say so I’m a good cook and can make a meal with very limited things and delicious for one person. Many of the things I thought were healthy can be detrimental to my condition and even at my age it’s never too late to learn.

    I'm from Spain. We make most of our veggies like coliflower, eggplant, zucchinis, etc with olive oil and garlic, we add lemon use. For lentil, cheak peas, etc we usually use an onnion, a garlic, a green pepper, 2 carrots, a tomato, a bay leaf, a spoon of smoked paprika and olive oil, salt too. As a stew or soup
    Hope you try It.

      We really should be lobbying to subsidize farmers for growing more vegetables, both starchy and non-starchy, not for corn and soybeans that end up propping up the meat and processed food industry. But that would be turning quite a huge ship.

    Dr Barnard, I notice that Braggs aminos has a very high sodium content. I have been using Coconut Aminos by a company called Coconut Secret. It contains 90mg sodium per tsp. The only ingredients are organic coconut sap and sea salt. It works exactly like soy sauce. It is especially good for people with hypertension who are concerned about their salt intake.

    • @sectionalsofa
      @sectionalsofa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use that too. Another alternative is to use diluted white miso. It has the added benefit of healthy fermentation.

      Being coconut, does it have a high fat content?

    • @sectionalsofa
      @sectionalsofa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@BeckRD1 Coconut Aminos has zero fat. It's from the sap of the coconut not the meat. Miso is available in the refrigerator section of a health food, Japanese or grocery store like Whole Foods. I use Miso Master Organic white miso (the white has less sodium than other varieties). It's a paste that you mix with a little water. It takes a little effort to get it diluted, but it's not hard.

      I soak regular organic oats in a little coconut or soy milk and lots of yogurt overnight, add fruits in the morning (or even at night if I’m eating on the go) and it’s so, so delicious! Add a little maple syrup if it’s not sweet enough. I think soy and oats makes for a complete protein as well.

      These foods he recommends are high carb and high glycemic index (sugary). These are foods diabetics should avoid altogether. They raise blood sugar levels like crazy. If you don't have diabetes you will by the time you're done eating these foods for any length of time. Consumption of carbs have been on the increase and is reflected in the population thru both obesity and increase in type II diabetes.
