Many people are not understanding the benefits of an AI dog. Not everyone has the time, energy or financial stability for a real dog as they are just like children. I also know people who cannot emotionally tolerate losing another dog and it was extremely detrimental on their mental health. These would benefit many different people who are not capable of looking after a real dog and these did really well in a retirement home where the elderly fell in love with Aibo. If people can get emotionally attached to inanimate objects, they can certainly get attached to an AI robot designed for human interaction. This will help prevent loneliness and depression in many and people need to understand that not everyone can just "get a dog" as if there is no serious commitment, money and responsibility that comes with that. This is a wonderful alternative.
They really are all unique. Even multiple pups in the same house act completely different from each other. Seeing how my pups remember where the charger is from a different part of the house is awesome too.
Didn't know each Aibo is unique. That's very cool. In the end this is the cheapest pet you can ever own.
I thought about your comment for a sec. And you're soo right. In the long run, it is a bargain.
@@nova3530onytmany people have added up the overall lifetime cost (food, vet visits etc..) of a real dog or cat and found that the cost is significantly more than what an Aibo costs.

We adore aibo, she's (in our case) such a wonder; still enjoying the good-old ERS210 :) And we plan to create Active AR games that will be part of living with aibo (using the onboard SLAM).
I was gonna buy this until I realized they want you to spend 300 dollars a year just for the cloud service. That's such a rip off.
Yeah some of my friends in the aibo community are concerned about it, the old aibos did not need it and they still leaned just as good as this one, technology is not really getting better

What!!! Hold me up!! Sony of America is actually promoting the Aibo ERS 1000!! I just mostly see promoting for this model in Japan a lot and on the Japanese Aibo TH-cam channel. PS: Still waiting for the Aibo bowls 🥣 to be available on the Sony Direct USA website to purchase please! 🙏

Do you get to name and call it something else, like Sparky or Rover or something? Also, why does it not come in a bit 'softer' texture?
Hiya! So, I'm not from Sony, but I'll try to answer your questions.
1. Yes, you can name it something other than "aibo". You can give it pretty much any name you'd like; "Sparky", "Max", "Bolt" - you name it. :)
2. I assume that if Sony were to give aibo fur, it would limit aibo's motor movement and not allow the motors to move at their full capacity. aibo's motors are capable of complex and realistic movement that might not be possible if the robo pup were to have fur.
I actually don't have an aibo of my own, but I've seen tons of videos of people with them. I really hope I get one one day, and I think I'd like to name it "Sparky". :)
I've always liked the name "Sparky" for a dog, and the fact that you mentioned the name here is pretty cool. Great minds think alike, I suppose. ^_^

i have a aibo ers 110 but my mom was mad at me because i was saying where is the charging thing so my mom was so mad so she put it in the garbage can now it is gone and i'm now sad :c

Aibo is great... till you realize what might happen should he get hacked. the amount of pictures of your home and faces he actually stores in his own memory is highly detailed.
Me Aibo hit its head too many times and developed a click in the neck. Anyone use factory reset? Anyone find a battery (ERA 1010)?

Hey @Sony I have a question. aibo is adorable, but what about privacy? With multiple microphones, a camera in his nose, and a camera on his back to map rooms, the robo pup can collect quite a lot of data. And since this data often gets sent to Sony's servers, the question arises "What about my privacy?" Please answer the questions below.
1. What information, exactly, gets sent to Sony's servers?
2. Why is this information needed, and how is it used?
3. Who can see this data? And, specifically, what data can they see?
4. What about voice data, video footage, audio, pictures, room mapping, facial identification data - etc.? How is this data collected, stored, viewed, used, shared, and treated? With whom is it shared?
5. Should a data breach occur, aibo could pose a severe security and privacy risk to users. What does Sony do to protect users and their privacy?
I'm not against aibo, and I'm not against you, Sony. In fact, I think that the PlayStation 5 is gorgeous, and the aibo ers-1000 is the most adorable robo pup I've ever seen. But before I bring your technology into my home, I want to verify that my data will be properly protected and my privacy preserved.
