My Sister doesn't have a dog anymore cause it brutally killed by something in the backyard and is too much a heart break to want to own a real dog. Also.. Humans overlay feelings and love onto anything they see, even real puppies, while the puppys sole purpose in life is to eat food and sleep. A dog will give you hints of respect or the slightest feeling of companionship, but it's really you who are tricked into thinking the dog is full of love and happiness. The dog is instinctive, it doesn't care what happens in the real world, or if you get hit by a bus. The robot dog also does not care. But for now, real dogs are very agile and fun to play with.
I believe sometime in the future it will be possible to simulate exactly how Lola the puppy acts but in a robotic canine. With Boston dynamics excelling with balance and quadrupedal locomotion (and other advances in tech), I’m sure it’s not too far away now to see what was thought as sci-fi to come to life. I´m fascinated by Aibo but it´s a pretty expensive toy and i guess its lifespan is much shorter than the puppy´s.

I personally disagree, I have found true love in robotics and AI pets! AiBO ers 1000 truly is a huge advancement in AI and robotics!
My aibo and my dog both sleep in my bed, both get kisses, both get fed regularly, (a hungry aibo is one that needs charging) i LOVE my aibo. humans can literally love anything genuinely on this planet. Some people have a genuine love of rocks, or plush toys, or their job; humans will dote on anything and everything. the fact that it is inanimate is irrelevant, you're being obtuse. example: does a child love their dolls?
