- The Orioles took an early lead during the afternoon game at Guaranteed Rate Field. But the White Sox were quick to answer back. An Andrew Vaughn single and a Yasmani Grandal double put runners at second and third. Jake Burger then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring home Vaughn and tie the game, 1-1.
Starting pitcher Michael Kopech settled into a rhythm the next few innings, holding the Orioles at bay through the fifth inning.
The White Sox took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the fifth inning from Andrew Benintendi’s RBI double.
The Orioles took the lead again but didn’t hold it for long after Burger launched a 2-run homer into left field to tie it 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Vaughn hit an RBI double to tie the game yet again, 5-5.
After two huge strikeouts from Reynaldo López, the game entered extra innings. The Orioles scored one run in the top of the tenth inning to take the lead, 6-5.
The White Sox answered in dramatic fashion. Grandal notched an RBI double to tie it up, 6-6. Burger advanced pinch runner Seby Zavala to third base with a single. Oscar Colás launched his first career walk-off to secure the White Sox win, 7-6.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-6 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois on April 15, 2023. The White Sox will play the last game of the series against the Orioles on Sunday, April 16 before continuing their homestand against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Great game. Too bad this team is who we thought they were. Unable to win consecutive games or a series. Rick Hahn is an incompetent GM. Tell Hahn to walk the 500 level concourse and talk to fans instead of hiding in his office pretending this poorly constructed team will be a playoff contender. The Cubs are better than us. Ugh!

So the rubber game is tomorrow. The Sox have got to start winning series. You don't win division titles in April, but fall far enough behind you can sure lose them.
