- Down four runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Sox scored seven runs capped off with an Andrew Vaughn three-run, 407 foot shot to left field, beating the Rays 12-9 in the bottom of the ninth.
Riding a great start from Mike Clevinger, who was able to take down the first five of six batters, the Sox took advantage early. Recently called up, Adam Haseley made the most of his time back in the big leagues, going 4-for-5 on the day with an RBI and three runs, one of those put the Sox on the board first.
Going into the fourth up 1-0, Clevinger gave up back-to-back homers to the best offense in baseball, one to Taylor Walls and Luke Raley. However, that didn’t shake the right-hander. Clevinger ended his day after 5.0, 7H, 2ER, and 8 strikeouts as the Sox trailed just 2-1.
That was until seasoned-veteran Yasmani Grandal stepped up to the plate, with Eloy Jiménez on base after a single, he blasted a 414 foot home run to right field pushing the White Sox up 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth.
The front half of the bullpen held up their end of the bargain. Gregory Santos came in on the back of Clevinger’s performance and tossed several 100 MPH fastballs forcing three outs on just 11 pitches. Joe Kelly came in and kept the mojo going as he tossed three strikeouts on 14 pitches in the 7th.
Eloy Jiménez, who had four hits on the day, was able to knock in a run after Adam Haseley and Andrew Vaughn walked. Those walks were followed by Luis Robert, Jr., who replaced Gavin Sheets, was hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the 7th. Feeling good, the Sox took a lead into the bottom of the 8th, 4-2. That’s when things unraveled for the back half of the bullpen.
After a run scored by the Rays on an Oscar Colás error, Luke Raley homed for a second time, pushing the Rays ahead, 5-4. After the homer, Reynaldo López was pulled due to an injury, putting the pressure on Kendall Graveman. Tampa Bay scored two more runs to make it 7-4. While Elvis Andrus scored in on a passed ball to make it 7-5 in the bottom of the 8th, Tampa Bay scored twice as Josh Lowe and Isaac Paredes crossed the plate, making it 9-5.
The home team, heading into the 9th and desperately needing a win, showed fight they’ve had throughout the season and battled back. Eloy Jiménez singled and was replaced by Andrew Benintendi to pinch-run was followed by Yasmani Grandal getting hit by a pitch. It was now time for Jake Burger to step up to the plate which led to a one-run double. An Oscar Colás sac-fly allowed Yasmani Grandal to score followed by an Elvis Andrus single scoring Jake Burger. Suddenly the White Sox had life down only 9-8.
With two outs, Lenyn Sosa singled to right field, forcing Elvis to second forcing the Rays to pull reliver Garrett Cleavinger, replaced by Jalen Beeks. But the pitching change didn’t matter as Adam Haseley’s career day continued, singling to center field allowing Elvis Andrus to score, tying the game 9-9.
Then came an opportunity for Andrew Vaughn to be the walk-off hero and he took advantage. With two outs and a 2-2 count, Vaughn took a 79 MPH slider to deep left field, watching for a moment before taking his jaunt around the bases. Coming home to a loud, energized team, Vaughn tossed his helmet after rounding third and celebrated at the White Sox ended a 10-game losing streak, winning 12-9.

I got baptized on this day and I am a die hard sox fan so when I got to my grandmas house after church, I watched the game and saw THIS and Vaughn is my favorite player so that's cool
To the fans who stayed up in the rain. Mad respect, you deffintly deserve this!🥇⚾
WHAT. A. GAME!!!
After we were down four I was ready to check the hell out I'm glad I hung in there. Let's GO SOX!!
Needed this game badly and the one before this and the one before that and the other one before that I think y’all get what I’m saying
LETS GOO LETS MAKE THIS THE START OF A WINNING STREAK
That what 👁️ talking about 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
I was listening to the radio broadcast live and oh my goodness what a roller coaster ride those last two innings were XD
Len’s call was perfection
Just gotta win the next thirteen in a row and they'll be .500!
Great comeback! However, Bummer has to GO. He's done this for years!! It's AAA time or better yet, a TRADE.
Lopez if the bigger problem. Should never have let him close games.
Both Bummer AND Lopez have to go. The bullpen tried to screw this one up.
@Jeff Grogan Bummer consistently walks batters and puts people on base. He's blown 20 games that I can remember. You put Bummer in, count on a loss or runs for the other team.
@@oreally8605 they need him as a specialist, using him as setup or closing isn’t his thing. They just don’t have anybody else. Starters suck besides cease, bullpen will be average even if crochet and liam comeback. Season is over.
@@santaclause3487 All because of the pitching. Up & down like a yo yo.
We may have a start to something, or at least I hope so... Go Go White Sox!!!
no lol
Lol good one
Wow! This is what a win looks like! Gotta get use to this, again.
Glad that come back and win a game. In the 9th innings with 7 runs. Walk-off home run by Ander Vaughn wow ⚾ it a carzy game
Amazing comeback win lose or draw always going to be a white sox fan go white sox love my team
I was there !!!!!!!
NGL but in the 8th inning, I facepalmed like here comes loss #11 but I was pleasantly surprised to see a comeback!
Now if this could be the start of winning streak, I would be overjoyed.
We have a long way to go just to reach
.500!
I know these boys have it in them but lately it's been minor league mediocrity at best. Prove me wrong. Please.
Adam Haseley, have a day! Nice play at 3rd by Burger too.
I WAS THERE
Worth the cold & rain!
What a ending
HOLY SHIT I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED!!!
these pitchers have real character!
Not ours
The higher brass needs to go asap... you're a laughing stock when you're supposed to be a contender.
sell the team
idc if we go on a 20 game win streak
Hater
But yeah they should sell the team 😂
Nice to finally get a win, but let's face it. The Sox season is over. The Sox are as good as any other team when healthy. The problem is they can't stay healthy, and when players go on the IL, the organization is just not deep enough to fill the hole. What exactly is the training staff doing, or not doing, to keep this team in shape?
We don't have pitching. The best we got is Cease,Clevinger, and Giolito and they're up and down. Bummer SUCKS he always has and so do the rest. No pitching = No playoffs.
@@oreally8605 That's true. The pitching staff was a bit overrated to begin with.
Where were the fans? Stadium looks empty.
Please don't move the team Jerry...😢🙏
They are not moving
In chicago for 120 years
@johnmarshall4399 Apparently, they almost moved in the early eighties.
luis robert, jiminez, and bummer gtg tbh
I agree with bummer but Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez should stay.
Bummer is terrible -always has been blows every game.
holy shit we won
👁️Am still on fence. Hopefully disk start of something
AV!!!
God Is Great .... Good To See Digit The Digit 8..... Jump To 18 ..... Men.😇
Reinsdorf needs to go , Go White Sox!
Time to DFA Bummer
I love how the Sox haven’t posted shit on TH-cam but finally win their 8th game of the season and are now posting something
Caribbean players cannot handle the cold weather in Chicago. This is why they ride the injury list through May. We need to stop building the team core around cocky unproven Latin "potentials," from foreign countries (specifically Jimenez, Moncada, Robert) who cannot play in cold weather, got paid too early so they have no heart, and chase balls outside the strike zone. Chicago has 2.5 months of cold weather play so having a team core of six Caribbean players in the starting offense line-up makes no sense. Even Jose Abreu (my favorite) struggled in April and May cold weather. The cold weather is a factor which Rick Hahn does not take into account and he acts like we are a Florida based team. We need to look beyond the "Cuban pipeline," because very few Cuban players will be of the same caliber as Minoso and Abreu who were humble hard workers. Hahn has a strange aversion to Asian players. Being Asian, I am offended Iguchi was our last Asian player in 2005. Hahn over-paid $74M for Benintendi's FIVE homers (count 'em) in 2022. LF Masataka Yoshida of Boston hit two homers in the 8th inning the other day and has four homers in his first MLB season (batting average .276 in 2023). For 2020 through 2022, Yoshida had batting averages of .350, .339, and .335, with a total of 56 home runs and 224 RBIs in 349 games played across three seasons in Japan. Yoshida's contract is an affordable 5 yr/$105M and he would have been a better investment than Benintendi. Asians play well in cold weather since our genes are specifically built for it. Our ancestral homeland is Siberia where the winter temperature is minus 60 degrees. Sox fans could built a better roster than Hahn who gets enamored of certain players to this team's detriment.
It's definitely time to get rid of Bummer lousy pitcher for years its time to go away
Over paid for Clivenger
