actually depends on the colour:
red: your pc runs faster
blue: your pc runs cooler
green: your pc uses less energy
Thats why i go hybrid and let it cycle in those 3 colours

KrispyLayz if youre using it for your pc, get the LOGISYS led strip it’s like 10 bucks on Newegg and it’s pretty good. For a much higher quality one, get the bitfenix alchemy 2.0 rgb strip. It’s Asus aura compatible and it’s high quality and bright from what I’ve heard

GingerFreek The thing about them (and any Razer Chroma product) are the effects and the compatibility with other Chroma products. I'm not saying that it isn't overpriced, but if i had the money to buy it i would totally do it. You can even visualize your music on your whole desk. That is just amazing.

tbh i think differently i think that these are too expensive and I wouldnt buy them at any situation of course i dont have any razer peripherals but i rather have a 10$ china LED maybe its just me though
alex galuza Even though I agree with both sides I really like the features the LEDS have and all but yeah I would prefer just plain old $15 lights. They do offer alot for cheaper but I guess if you would like to blow that much money on decorations then so be it.
Would be pretty easy to combine this and some cheap lights and have all the nice control over the cheaper lights.

£80 LMFAO!!! ARE YOU FOR REAL... 'Philips Hue' light strips are HALF the price and even they are overpriced, you can get RGB light strips on amazon for literally as low as £8 ...you can't just slap a logo on something & add a 0 to the price... elgato already tried this with their green screen bs :/

£80 is a ripoff especially considering the Corsair Commander Pro and spare RGB strips (sold without RGB strips but does not make a difference) costs just as much and that is a fan hub and USB extension hub as well and it has onboard storage
from UK PC part sellers the Corsair Commander Pro can go for as low as £45 and the RGB expansion strips can go for as low as £20 and if your reason to go for Razer is because the RGB strips can sync with peripherals lighting well Corsair have more RGB products (at least they don't go crazy like Razer and do stuff like RGB coffee mug) announced their "Sync It" software back during Computex 2017 which can sync PC parts (currently only Corsair RGB components and MSI MOBO's) lighting with RGB strips and Corsair brand peripherals

well you could say that's... random
some of the hue products (controlled through hue base) are now controllable via razer chroma synapse 3 as well allowing some amount of chroma advanced controlls (not individual led light controll on their strip but chroma controlled as a solid color is a nice option now, also works with all the other lights that work with the hue base station)

I hate this Razer shit but let's compare Chinese iPhones and real iPhones. Real ones are also being made in China but they aren't as crappy as $50 ones.
It would be useful if the Chroma software could provide reactive ambient lighting through the LED strips on the back of the monitor like Philips Ambilight TV's and the Lightpack. I would love a version that can work with my monitor and the console/PC hooked up to it.

You know nothing about computers......You cant just buy an RGB strip, and hook it up to nothing.....You either have to have an RGB header featured on your motherboard, or add a lighting controller that uses a motherboards USB header instead of an RGB header via a controller like this or the HUE+. Sure you can buy an LED strip and hook it up to molex/sata power, but it does literally one predetermined color.....

Lifx strip are better considering that they're compatible with Alexa, they are very bright and you can control them through the lifx phone app. Yeah they're also expensive but are well worth the price and you will be getting a lot more options for your bucks comparing to this. I would even recommend phillp Hue over these.
Buying Razer is like buying Apple, a lot of $ for very little performance.

Phillips Hue light strips are better, you can sync them with your monitor and whatever game you're playing will sync with the lights using ScreenBloom, So sick!

These look really hard to mount in any sort of desirable way based on how they link into the HDK box. Furthermore, can you link the strips together or chain them off each other to avoid having 4 strips coming from odd angles off that box?
I believe NZXT Phillips Hue+ can connect through Synapse now since Razer and Phillips Hue are partners.

When i hear Razer rgb strips, it makes a little scared with the whole Razer defect rate and synapse instabilities (especially with how many issues I've had with past expensive rgb strips breaking too easy), it makes me scared

Phillips hue is better bc it's same pricing and about 15x brighter and longer along with more options
For the price i would definitly take the LEDs from Phillips Hue (especial because My room light are already connected to the bridge)
About the fact you can't control them from you phone... you showed a razer sdk thing called "razer chroma for android". However, getting it working is a different story, as I can't find the app on the google play store. Does anyone know what it is called?
bit pricey, what do you think about the corsair pro link rgb stuff? i have the nzxt hue+ and it hasnt worked for months, each software update made it worse and worse. now it just sits on white, iv given up on it.
Yeah ..CAM is by far the worst software I have ever used! I fought that shit for over a year til i finally said fuck it and sold that piece of shit HUE+...I loved the lights and the features but the software is just a complete nightmare! The happiest day of my life was when I sold it and switched to the Phanteks strips to go along with my Enthoo Evolve TGE case! So much easier and stress free! Not as many features but was a fraction of the cost they are alot brighter than the HUE strips were and they look just fine...Im running them along with a few Corsair HD RGB fans and my mobo has the MSI mystic lighting so im good to go when it comes to rgb lol

Rockstar tech support keeps telling me to uninstall all Razer Synapse software. No joke
is this only compatible with Razer Synapse 3 beta ? i have somewhat recently updated Razer products (razer da elite, blackwidow x tournament edition, and firefly) however if i remember correctly, Synapse 3 beta only supports certain products atm, which i think most of mine aren't supported yet. only one being supported is the firefly atm. I'm still using Synapse 2 to chroma sync all my devices. i'm in the market for light strips and this could be something i'd want to spend extra on over the cheaper $15 amazon ones just because of the syncing capabilities with other razer devices.

Jeff LaFlare Philips Hue can sync with Razer Chroma. I use these Razer light strips on the back side of my monitor and underneath my table. I also have Hue light bulbs that I use in desk lamps and ceiling lights. They all sync up nicely and with ease.

This I'd better than the nzxt hue... The hue is "shorter" and really doesn't work as well... Its more value but I'm not sure about the price

i still think you should get silverstone, phanteks, akasa rgb strips because they can sync with motherboards and others. The effects i havent tried, so i love if you can review sync compatible rgb strips.

There's an issue with this comparison. The $10 ones from china do one color at a time. But some more expensive ones have individually addressable LEDs. You'll need the LED strip (around $40 for this type) and an arduino or something similar to control it. Let's say around $30 for the arduino.
The results from this are, in my opinion, far greater than those offered by this $80 product. And I've even seen some people setting up their own arduino bluetooth setups to let them control it from their phones. Seems way way better to me.

How long is the light strip
the only reason i would get these would be the fact they connect with the rest of my setups rgb
My RGB light strip was cheap and not a premium brand, but it was still very bright. But the downside for me was that the tape lost it's stickiness so it was just hanging from the desk, I put tape over it and it still didn't do anything, does anyone have a solution or a reason on why this happens or if it is just because it was a cheaper light strip.
can we use other light strips with this module? in case i need longer strips
