    Keep in mind that it is often recommended to connect the DC power to both ends, so that the power doesn't drop over the 10-meter length.Also, users need to be sure that the power needed by the LED strips does not exceed the power available from the Power Adapter. This is important to consider. The two 10-meter strips you're using each came with a separate power supply, so you may be overloading the single power supply. So if you're installing LED strips, it is important to consider the power needed (number of watts) and the power provided by the power supply.

    I put them on 2 days ago. When i woke up the next day they were in my bed and on the floor. What you should try to do is to use (other than the adhesive of the led lights itself) is to use the extra adhesive roll and apply it to the entire led strip. You could also use mounting techniques which holds the led strips very well. I hope this helps.

    You`ve got a suspended ceiling so you could have put a feed in a length of trunking, would be minimal cost which you could have hidden in the corner recess by the window, so no obtrusive, up into the ceiling where you could have placed the transformer and connection. The best effects are all in the detail.

  • @TVSbro
    @TVSbro 7 ปีที่แล้ว +143

    Hey Matt I have few points to make1. The power cable that goes up is a bit annoying so you can hide the reciever and the power supply up in the ceiling and share the mains power with the ceiling lights. Trust me its bot that hard2. I would suggest upgrading the power supply because i don't think so the power supply would be able supply full power to both the strips. 3. If possible use diffuser channels for the leds.
    Sorry for my poor english.

    Big tip, put the LEDs on celling not the wall that way you can use a downward facing diffuser, and also get a color wash down the white walls, I've done it myself and the only reason people are doing it on the wall is pure laziness as you need to cut at every angle and splice cable on corners, take the time and the effect is well worth the extra time.

    Good to see someone from/promoting NC! I like Carolina, but if you went to NC State (a good engineering school) you would know could never wire "150 feet" of those! ;) You shouldn't have wired more than one. The voltage drop is significant over a length of 5050 RGB LEDs. 16ft is usually the max without power injection, maybe 30 (will need a high current power supply). But the lights will be dimmer towards the ends and the color will shift as well as all of them being dimmer than they should. You will overheat your strips, burnout the LEDs and burn out the power supply. Anyone trying this will need to look up "power injection" for 5050 LEDs and determine how best to wire power. In this setup, I would inject the same voltage with another power supply into the beginning of the strip and the end. The lights you used look like the way they get around part of the problem is to put less LEDs per foot, which is ok as long as you know what you are buying. If these are the same 10M ones that are still being sold they are 24V, so the voltage drop is not as noticeable. 24V are not common, most are 5V and some are 12V.

      There are a million types of LED’s. Due to the spacing, these look like 3528 rgb strips. Could be 12v-20volt dc... or AC. Regardless, you shouldn’t go over 32’ of continuous strip. Connecting another to lengthen it will cause the LED’s to fade out in the ass end and ultimately die out faster. Worst case scenario, the power source is underrated to muscle such a lengthy strip and overloads/burns the building down in a fiery manner.

    Thanks for the video. Reviewing the specific lights you bought, it mentioned adding lights to the same power source wasn't recommended as it's power supply is designed to run 10m. It appears yours didn't lose brightness, but wondering how they've held up. Burnt out from lack of power, etc. I had read an example of 300w per 6 strands of lights. I don't know if those were 16ft or 32ft like yours. That said, just wondering if you experienced any issues. My goal is like yours, a 50ft around the room design.

    • @hadrianrex117
      @hadrianrex117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not the lights that would burn out in this situation, they are drawing from a smaller pool than was promised them, so it is actually the power supply that will be overworked and probably burn out, though indeed the lights may be dimmer the farther away from the source. There is a searchable equation that can tell you how many LEDs the source can support before that becomes an issue. My *guess* is that the added strip he put in was within the tolerance of the design (though not the advertised margin).

    • @nova31337
      @nova31337 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the thing he failed to point out. If the product is nice, they'll tell you how much power the LEDs consume in total or per strip. If not, you may have to dig a bit to find out the LEDs actual power consumption by doing your own voltage testing with a single strip and do the math to subdivide the usage against the length of the strip to find out the usage per segment. Alternatively you can just get a bigger power supply than you would realistically need and power through it, but you may damage the LEDs if you try to push too much power over a super long distance.

      @Armend Bejic when did you receive your order because the website says that because of the COVID 19 my package should come in at 2-5 weeks but it has been over a month and I haven't gotten a word from the company yet. Also why do they never respond back to my email or calls?

      @@salwinderpadda5733 You should call them again and again until they pickup or you should ask for a refund.

      @ActuallySalamy after a couple of days I got a email from PayPal saying that my order was shipped but after that I have gotten no clue about my order. I think the company is located in Serbia/Austria so our time zones are way different.

    Why would you have the cable going from the power strip to the lights go down the middle of the wall? You should try better to hide it, it looks awful. Make it go through the roof, or at least down the corner.

    All the led strips come from the same manufacturer. You can find equally good/the same 5m long LED strips on eBay for under 8$.
    I installed 3 of them two years ago, no problems, as perfect as in the beginning!

    u have a drop ceiling dude, u couldve got power from the top real easy or better yet, run the adapter cable up the back corner of the room from where you've got the bags to hide it... also, since your wall is white, a white background light strip wouldve blended a little better... finally u can use a diffuser channel over the lightstrips to help blush out some of the sharp LED light and make it look really professional.
