  • These are my monumental conclusions as why the Tiger 800 is the best adventure you can buy. What a shame they ceased production and replaced it with a bag of nails ;0)

A great sensible review of the bike, I've a Gen 1 tiger 800 and recently test rode a tiger 1200 rally Pro, enjoyed it but the 800 is smoother and just as enjoyable to ride. I've just had my suspension reworked by Maxton Suspension to my weight and riding style (slow!!) and it handles as good as the 1200.

Yes, I think when the time is right I will go that same route. I put 24K on my Gen 1 and loved every minute of it!

@@883frederick I tend to ride with just a top box I see you have panniers only on yours, I worry that makes it a wide bike, how does it ride compared to a top box any different?

@@alancox7572 I ride mostly with a top box, but it is not a trekker style aluminium one so I took it off for the video. Panniers are great for touring and shopping, but other than that I do not have them on the bike. On my old Tiger I was filtering left past a car turning right and the offside pannier hit the back of the car and I was on my side looking a bit of a fool (which is what I am 😅). I have measured the bars and they are approx 32 inches, whereas the panniers are approx 39 inches. It is more of a problem on the off side as the exhaust pushes that pannier out further. In general use though you do not know they are there. When on the bike they offer me a sense of security as they will protect my legs in a fall (I had my hips replaced ten years ago so need to look out for them). My wife also prefers the security of them when she is on the back. The top box when loaded can add a top heavy feel to an already top heavy bike, so when all three are on the bike on I load the least into that as the panniers carry their weight low. Top boxes are more practical but I think they look rubbish.

Hi Fred, I have tiger 800 XRT 2019 white and I love them, where did you buy mesh on seat.

HI Sandro, I got mine from here www.coolcovers.co.uk/ I live in Hereford and didn't know at the time that they are actually made in Ledbury just up the road! I would get a discount if poss as they are always discounted somewhere. I paid around £40. I bought the pillion as well, but for love nor money I could not get it back on the bike with both on. However, the mesh really does put some air between you and the bike and on hot days is very welcome.
