    I’m 73. My take on American business is this. Most owner/managers have no clue, not a single one, about management/employee relations. Their approach to managing or leading is to be heavy handed and a “take no prisoners” style. They are predominantly a$$holes who really don’t give a hoot about the wellbeing of their employees. Management is under the impression that there’s 10 people standing in line for your job. Herb Kellegher , ex CEO of Southwest Airlines, was asked once what he does to keep his customers happy. He said, “I keep my employees happy.” Just move on, this job isn’t worth the time you take out of your life to worry about it.

    I used to hate getting calls for sail boats. Most I encountered were inexperienced. They would call in saying they lost power and needed towed into Marco Marina. They would usually call in about 20 miles south of Marco even though they had 15 knot winds.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      All the damn time. I constantly had sailboats 10+ miles off Venice call in for engine failure. Dude. Sail the damn boat closer to the inlet and then I'll come tow your ass in

      Just reading this randomly without any context, but yes I would imagine it's the most inexperienced that will probably need the most help...but hey, they are getting out on the water! Maybe they can read a bit more, study a bit more, and try to be as prepared as possible...but give 'em credit for trying!

  • @Bierdaddy1
    @Bierdaddy1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I suppose not disclosing to the client or your boss that you’re recording for your private broadcast could violate some service or employment contract. I’m not a lawyer. Unlike filming at a beach or park, which are public spaces, you’re recording someone’s private property, kind of like paparazzi. I haven’t seen any inappropriate videos of wives’ butts or children, but the client doesn’t know that. If anything, recording is a smart CYA move for insurance and safety purposes, documented proof of your skills if some jerk wants to try to pin some damage, accidental or that he caused, on you. Maybe just tell your new boss your recording plan and post a sign for customers. Technically, that could be evidence if god forbid something goes wrong and someone gets hurt.
    Appreciated watching your seamanship skills. Thank you for your videos. Good luck with your new boss. Fair winds.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      On the water is a public place, so that's not the issue, and there's no contract violation either. I initially started recording my jobs to cover my ass if there was any issues. My new boss absolutely loves the fact that I record the jobs since he trusts that we do a good job, so it should only ever work in his favor (which it has on a few occasions). Oh, and our corporate liaison likes the publicity that these types of videos bring to the company too 😁

    • @rm4po4
      @rm4po4 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CaptKenOmaybe the thing to think about is not that this in public, which it is...but those are your clients. Meaning they are paying to be helped, so it would seem to be wrong to share those videos unless they agree to it for promotion. I'd be upset if I was in a position to need help, paid a pretty penny for the help and then find out people are making jokes. That doesn't seem correct. Now if you asked me, in most circumstances I'd agree to it.
