I thought that it was asinine to spend that much money on a cheap watch until I did it with my Casio Royale and it came out incredible. I wear it so much more now than I did before. The quality is amazing and and in my opinion, worth every penny
I am wearing the f105w right now. It's cool if you really want to customize your cheap watch. But for about the same price you could get an A1000 or one of the other steel watches they make.
I used one of these SKX Mod kits on a Casio Royale, and I love the end result. Yeah, it's definitely more expensive, but compared to a Tissot PRX digital model, it's still a bargain. The Royale's faceplate is removable, so mine still has the Casio branding, but the clean case gets rid of the unnecessary wording of the original.
Nice video! They all turned out pretty classy. I would HOPE that SKXMOD does a set of kits for the W800H which I think is a very overlooked model, especially the way it seems streamlined for wrists.
Awesome. I been looking for someone to.make a kit for my a168. I all ready have mine on a jubilee bracelet and I see you can just buy the case. That makes me happy. Thanks for the review and info
It's cool and all but I am in Europe and I just checked...almost 200eur for that...come on lol I imported an Armitron from the USA and it costed me 50bucks - full stainless steel as well.
I'd like to see a full kit for the humble DW5600. From base G-Shock to all steel would be awesome. Way better than the steel bezel replacements. Great video as always Dave. Thank you for sharing this with us.
The cool thing about this: I always wanted a full metal g-shock, but those are too large and heavy. This casio mod is a great alternative for me (and those like me). Thx for the vid
no, the gms series comes in full metal already, no need for modding. they're smaller versions of the standard casioak and just 14 grams heavier than their resin counterparts just at 55g
i wish they would make similar mods for the A700, A500 and B640.. all three offer some upgrades on the module found in the A168/F105.. i think if they could give us one that takes the module from the DW5600 that would be the most well rounded digital dress watch.
I own 2 moded pieces of Royale, one SS, and the second in bronze, and both are from skxmod. Absolutely happy with quality and enjoy wearing them. I would love to see the moding kit for A500
Great concept and beautiful bracelet, but loosing the colors and branding on the A168 is s total miss for me. Thats what makes that watch special. Still waiting to see the Casio royal metal case mod lower under $100 so I can give it a try 😅
Have the black and gold full mod kit for my AE1200 and love it! I didn't have any issues but have heard of others having problems with the screws in the bracelet!
You are the first TH-camr I've seen to talk about these updated SKX mods for the A168 and I think they are AWESOME!! I have the mod kit for the AE1200 and I've had quite a few people ask me where I bought my "premium" Casio. It may seem expensive for a Casio when considering the upfront cost but when you feel the premium materials surrounding your favorite Casio module it all of a sudden just becomes worth it.
i wanna get one but seems the brushed silver is out of stock already.. hope they restock them soon.. i wish they would do a similar mod to fit the module from the g shock 5600.. that would make it slightly larger than the A168 mod but smaller and thinner than the gmw b5000
The specs are very close to the full metal A1000, available for around 100,- EUR. Albeit you don’t get sapphire cristal, but mineral. And water resistance (which stands for 3 meters ?) instead of 100m. So yeah, different enough to justify the upgrade, if those options are important to you. But come on, we all know we’re here because we like to fiddle around with the toys. 😉
Perfect timing! I was just looking at these on SKXMOD's website. Quick question though: how are the buttons? Are they "mushy" compared to the original ones? I have a couple of their AE-1200/1300 kits and the buttons are my only complaint. They are mushy and soft so prone to accidental and unwanted presses. Quite frustrating.
I do like that silver one, interestingly, the watch looks much larger on the fkm strap, I think the eye looks at the whole case rather than just the display area when worn on the bracelet?
If they can do a mod where the strap and watch case are made from fine silver I might be interested. I think the MW-240-4BVEF is very interesting for those who like the analogue look. This one looks like something a lot more expensive that Bell & Ross would make. I think Casio probably nicked the styling ideas for this watch from Bell & Ross.
Dave, please tell SKX Mod to make it available in Shopee platform across Asia, i live in Malaysia and we don't have this kind of mod. I'm sure SKX Mod will get plenty of customer as we have hell of Casio collector here as well.
I own an F-105 and it's great...but I can't wear it repeatedly, because it quickly becomes boring. There's a metallic Casio on my list, an A-700WM, but the case is still resin. However, these mods look very cool, I might try one some time...
@@ivanfreely6366 I know, but it's kind of a different design, more sporty. I'd love to try some more modding, beyond just changing the resins on a G-shock.
Hai dave ,, happy to see you every time , Iam from India - Kerala, This is absolutely stunning video , I love watches , iam a budget friendly watch collector, This information is very good and shocking..... Thankyou .....see you next time.... ❤U
It could be great if made out of titanium to maintain more of the original weight. Maybe a case for these modules with the appearance of a square gshock, and also in titanium could be cool.
I know it will never happen but I'd love a mod for the DBC32, hell!, I'd be happy with good quality replacement straps. AE1500 seems to have a growing fanbase probably because it is by far the clearest digits on anything Casio does, but as much as I love it it is still looks like a cheapy, so maybe SKX could come up with some new bezels. Something that did away with the fake screws would be a great improvement and an uninterrupted ring to make the face 100% recessed would be great, although the latter option would change the look from Casio's original design a bit too much for many people.
This 10x value going in to the casing around a cheap movement reminds me of how many expensive mechanical pieces often use the same basic movements. Not that I mind this, the opposite really, if a basic mass-produced part that's hidden from sight suits the job at hand and is reliable it's fine to use. The value comes from how a piece complements one's personality or clothing and how it makes the wearer feel. Or it's ability to tell the darn time, depending on the person, though those people will probably stick to an F-91W or similar piece.
Hey, wondering if you know if A168 has separate faceplate from the bands. The mod pricing is kinda expensive but wondering if I can get away by just replacing the faceplate and not the entire thing.
The thing going through my head now: It's basically a microbrand watch, right? It takes a stock movement (in this case an F105 instead of NH35), adds a case, dial and bracelet with nicer specs than the original company sells. It's a digital, which is a bit different than average, but still. So that makes me kind of regret that SKXMod has opted to just go for a very literal copy-cat design. Many of the best microbrand watches aren't ones which just reproduce famous watches, they're ones which do something original. The module is basically round, so doing a round case somewhere between an a171 or Tissot PRX would be cool. I feel like there's a lot more potential and a lot more appeal to the designs if they put more of their own spin on some of these modding kits, rather than just copycats for cheap watches. I know they sell their current lines, so it'd be more of a both-and, not either-or. I think there'd be a market for $150-200 luxury microbrand digital watches, and that market would expand if there were more options beyond copycatting what I can get at Walmart.
You're not the first TH-camr to have problems with the screws on skx mods bracelets. I don't think it's worth the money. It's too expensive but add to that trouble with poorly made links... Definitely not worth it.

Tempting to me in a way the AE1200 ones never were. If Casio made more than one or two digital watches anywhere close to this in terms of build, SKXmods wouldn’t even cross my mind. Going to have to mull it over.
