As a retired professional musician & a watch enthusiasts I find this SUPER cool 👍
Thanks for sharing.
def going to be my next purchase
SUPER cool it is indeed 👍👌
Thanks for putting this watch on my radar! I’m a band director and this would be really cool tool to own and like you said something really out of the ordinary and since my collection really focuses on sports watches I think it could double as a dress watch for me. Definitely will get this watch and put on either a bracelet or alligator strap. Thanks for another cool video Teddy!!!
I’m a band director too! Bought the watch for my wife who is a pianist, and while she loved it, she hasn’t used the metronome function once 😂 somehow I think it’ll be much more useful for our jobs (or a choral director, with the drone for pitch reference) but I find the watch a tad small to wear for my wrist.
Made in China...skip it.
Is it quartz ?
@@Fee.1 yes
BRUH. ITS A QUARTZ. IT’S THE SAME AS A KORG METRONOME. 😂 WHEN A WATCHMAKER MAKES A ‘TIMEPIECE’ WITH A ‘METRONOME’ I WILL BUY. THIS IS A GLORIFIED BEEPER WITH A DOLLAR STORE MOVEMENT 😂
I am an actual musician (flute) and I have used this in rehearsal. Useful in two ways. You can hear an A 440 to help tune. Also, the dial alone is useful because when you are practicing you can see what the tempo should be for presto, largo, etc. It is common to look at the music and natch the temp as indicated to the actual beats per minute. I have shown this to my colleagues and they love it!
is the metronome loud enough to hear during a rehearsal or when your playing?
that was my only concern, because i play piano and im not sure if i would even be able to hear it while playing 😂
The hands are supposed to look like tuning forks.
No.
That makes no sense. You are just making up stuff at this point.
Yep
🎯 That’s exactly what tuning forks look like and makes perfect sense given the watches functions
Bulova has something to say about that!
As guitar player of 20 years I didn't even know this was a thing and I am a seiko fan. I am literally buying it right now. Thank you for sharing.
Where are you buying it from? Do you have a link?
@@BarikSingh ebay dude
You don't care at all that it's Made in China?
@@pistonburner6448from where is the device u just typed that comment?
@@hobnob_eth Ah, the lowest-IQ, totally invalid, absolutely childish comment some doofus so often comments.
You tell me what point you're trying to make exactly. Come on, don't just throw out that incomplete innuendo: express your full argument...if you have the backbone. I dare you.
Seiko has a long history of making mechanical & quartz metronomes. Some of the quartz are set with a dial, while others have a LCD display. A mechanical metronome is just a different type of clock, that a clockmaker will have to service & adjust to keep it healthy for long-term use. Thanks for sharing this piece with more people. Another pro: It has a dress watch size & feel for anyone who plays tux/formal gigs.
Yes it’s at the more affordable end of the market but this is what watchmakers could be moving towards. Well done Seiko. You have my attention with this one.
Now this is a really cool piece. Refined, a fantastic brand, value for money, affordable, extremely functional (being a musician) and a conversation starter. Excellent find, Teddy!
He didn't find nothing us poor people who need to go with uniqueness and gimmicks on our watches cuz we've never seen a $100,000 watch these guys talk about like everyone has. All he did now was make it so we can't afford it...gonna be a $1000 watch in 2 weeks

As a musician, that watch is amazing 👍👍 The fact they put in a choice between A and Bb shows some real thought into the design.
got this for my wife. Loved it. looks super on her wrist and she plays the piano, so the theme also fits her
This was my 2nd watch after my SRPD! I love that little thing and it's always a great conversation piece. I used to play drums but sadly wound up selling off my kit years ago so I never got to use the watch with them. You hit the nail on the head with the size. It definitely wears like a dress watch but I'm not sure if I'd wear it with a suit
I actually love this. It's just these quirky innovations that really sets it apart. I don't foresee this to be a desired watch outside of a niche subset of collectors but I can say for certain I'm going to get this. Also. I'm new to your channel as I've only watched a handful of videos. However you good sir have earned a new sub.
I immediately want this for my daily mindfulness meditation. I can just focus on the sound of the metronome at a slow pace. Very helpful. Thanks for reviewing it!
This is absolutely insane. As a musician and Seiko collector I absolutely gotta have this
Love it. Hopefully they sell enough that they will make them with even nicer finishes.
This watch is amazing, especially for the price! I use it when I practice and it’s a real eye grabber. Absolutely love it!🙌🏼
Does it give you any haptic feedback like a vibration or something? Is the beeping sound loud enough when playing? I really want to like this, but I fear it won't be as useful as a "real" metronome.
What u think it's gonna stay that price now? Next will be the bellmatic and they won't be happy till us poor people are all wearing nothing but F91's
@@csmcrckrs it's not dude....it's a gimmick sole intention is to make people say "wow...that's neat"
As a musician who prefers smaller watches… this is perfect for me. I typically use my phone as a metronome and tuner, but whenever I can I prefer to leave phone outside of the practice room. For quick references either practicing in a practice room or rehearsing with a chamber ensemble this would be amazing. I already use the seconds hand on my watch to quickly get a tempo related to 60bpm (120, 90, 80, etc.)
What a watch! Thanks for introducing this, Teddy.
A beautiful little watch - classical, refined and musical! The name fits and it recalls the antique watch of an earlier era right down to the 36.5 mm size. 😊
You made me purchase it online immediately! I play the (Italian type) mandolin, and am thinking about putting it on every time I go to mandolin practices. The only con was that it was super difficult to set the hour hand and the minute hand correctly, but once they were set, this time piece looks just perfect for every musician.
I bought this in january. It is definitely a keeper! Immediately got rid of the strap and put it on a mesh bracelet.
It is the watch I have gotten most comments on.
I'm a musician and this watch has been a GREAT party trick among my musician (and watch-nerd) friends. Not to mention, it's absolutely cool to wonder "hey, what key is this song in", and just put the watch in tuner mode and figure it out from there. Legibility does suffer a bit, but I can hardly complain with all the chuffed giggles I've gotten from it. I got the SMW003A which has a silver sunburst dial and gold inlaid text and hardware. Less Bauhaus than the black-and-white SMW006A, but a little classier, works amazing as a fun dress watch. Awesome for the price. Great review, Teddy!
We are a family of watch collectors, My Wife daughter and son all have eclectic collections with a variety of price points. My 15 year old son (guitar playing and studying music) saved his pocket money and decided he wanted this watch to wear on his musical journey (he also bought the Seiko Bryan May 2 last year with his pocket money, during his discovery of the epiphone electric guitar range).
I have to say, what an amazing watch this is. I was truly envious of his purchase.
Stylish, timeless, elegant, whimsical and joyful, yet It is (at heart) essentially a tool watch, and I can tell you, he uses it for its intended purpose and that makes this little gem of a watch a fantastic acquisition for musicians and collectors alike. It's beautiful and a bargain!
Nice review!
I’m new to the world of wrist watches. This channel helps me to understand and learn more about watches . Thank you!
Just got gifted the black and gold model for Christmas from my brother! I’m immediately ordering a replacement strap but I LOVE this watch! I believe this is the only quartz watch I ever wanted because I’m a musician and a watch collector. Two worlds colliding in a fun piece. Love this thing! Merry Christmas to all watch lovers out there!
ok... I'm gonna need tis. Thanks for the heads up.
I ordered this watch 3 hours after this video came out, and the ebay seller CANCELLED my order to scalp at a higher price since the demand spiked!
Unfortunate for me, but speaks to the taste maker that is Teddy.
Had it basically since it became known in the West, had to order it from Japan. It is a super fun oddity. Obviously goes with a bunch of outfits too. Feels like a quality product. One major knock is that it is very hard to read the time, so I don’t actually wear it that much. It really is a collector’s piece.
Could you tell me what site you used to find the watch?
Same question!
Looking for the site as well please?👀
You havnt learned how to read analog yet???😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@danielmorris4646 Do you own the watch?
This should be called the JazzMaster 🎷 🎶
Truly original and sure to be a hit with all the amateur musicians out there. Brilliant.
This is so, so fun! I was a vocalist for a couple of decades and though I'd likely never use this function practically, if I ever find this watch at non-import prices, I don't think I'll be able to resist picking one up.
I purchased the teal variant of this watch for my wife about 6-7 months ago. It is fun for sure. She is a musician, and she did on ONE occasion actually use the functionality of the watch...she REALLY didn't need to, and it was more of a "Party Trick" but still, everyone of her friends thought it was so cool.
Super original watch!
Seiko still finding ways to surprise us.
I was waiting for you to review this wonderful Time(Musical)Piece! Thanks Teddy!
So cool. Thanks for covering it!
As always, you provide an excellent 👏 review of a vary cool Seiko watch that I will add to my collection.
This thing is so cool. I play bass and have always just been into music, but even putting that aside that dial is just so interesting to look at. I've never owned or worn this watch, but I think the hands are genius. Because they are responsible for multiple functions, I can see the desire to make them the lengths they are. They kept the "pillar" (for lack of a better word) or "base" of each hand, I guess, more traditional, with the hour hand being shorter and wider and the minute hand longer and more slender. I think it's kind of genius.
This looks prestigious! Definitely in my list, thanks for recommending
absolutely amazing what seiko can do.
I watched this video and all I can say is...Wow, this Seiko watch is so ridiculously cool. I must find one to add to my collection.
What a find. Thanks for sharing
This watch is crazy! Seiko is awesome. Keeping themselves alive and relevant
I’ve had mine about 4-5 weeks. I adore it. Not a musician, but I find plenty of excuses to use its auxiliary functions; particularly the title party trick. The kids love it too. I think it wears well on my 7.5in wrist, noticeably larger than my 36mm SRPJ83 and close to the 38.5mm SRPF43. I did dump the strap for a cheap leather amazon special pretty much out of the box, and I still read the hands backwards at first glance (hour as minute and vice versa); something about their proportions. It’s my new daily, sharing 50/50 duty with the Apple. People do notice and compliment it if you’re into that.
I don't know why but to me, the design language of this watch is amazing
I heard about this watch 3 weeks ago and just came back from Japan. I was able to get this from the only store that sells it over there with the help from the hotel front desk staff doing some translation for me. It's super cool!
So you got the Japanese version, right? The one that's not made in China...
Please provide name of store! Going to Japan soon.
Where is your piece made?
how much was it
As a musician I bought this watch when I saw it on your video a few weeks back - got it in and absolutely love it!
I’ve been trying to find this Watch for sale for so long. Now that Teddy made a video on it, I’m sure it’s going to be even harder to find 😢 and resale prices may go up
I grabbed one on eBay. Came up to $202 after tax
Sorry buddy. The masses need to know about this one though. Too cool.
It's Seiko, not Rolex. If they see demand they will just make more. Could become even cheaper than now
I'm in love with this watch and this idea. I was recently reminiscing about music being a way to teach about the concept of time, its passage, commitment, planning, and keeping pace.
Hallo Teddy, what a fun watch, so glad you bring up all this different kind of watches. As I love to sing and play the ukulele, I will definitely look into this. Thank you and as always love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
As a percussionist I just fell in love with this watch.
I couldn’t find it anywhere in my country. Definitely going buy it as soon as I find it.
I've owned the gold tone version of this watch for a little while. On the gold one, the indices are applied instead of printed.
Despite it's a very interesting watch for me (I play guitar), I rarely wear it for a few reasons that the video already mentioned: subpar strap, feels small even for a small wrist, difficult to tell time.
However, the number 1 reason for me is the lack of heft, makes it feel insubstantial and "plasticky", even though it is made of metal. I wish the 2nd version of the watch is 2mm larger and/or built heavier, and then add some lume to the hands.
Forgot to mention: technically this watch is from Seiko Instruments, which typically makes dedicated music gadgets such as tuners and metronomes rather than watches.
i love these kind of little curiosities
Saw your video and now i am hunting for this watch as i am a musician (flute, bass etc)...it's definitely on my list to buy
I first saw this watch late last year. While it's not for me, I'm glad it exists. I'm glad you did a review.
Oooh! I want one , my band mates will be impressed. There are so many of theses metronomes in stand alone boxes and apps but built into your watch..nice!
Great video. Just ordered one after seeing this :)
this watch is so cool! its like the perfect gift from a watch lover to a musician or someone learning to play an instrument..
Saw these a couple months ago online and I want one since!
Very cool watch! Its definitely a bit small and niche for my preferences but great to know it exists and I'm sure a musician would enjoy its functionality.
I bought 2 of these last year, one for me and one for my son in the Music Program at the University of Toronto. Loves these.
What a wonderful quirky little watch. Love it! I wish it would come out in the wider market, as I’d buy one instantly!!
I need more videos on women’s watches!! Love your videos, especially the collabs with Kevin 😄
I’m a choir teacher and I’ve had my eye on this for about a year. Trying to get a good price on one, but definitely want to add it to my collection!
Now that this video's out, watch the prices climb.
eBay prices start at $187.78. Hurry!
Started watching this video and purchased it before you'd finished. Yes I am a musician but I'm not sure that would have made a difference. Thank you.
I bought one after watching this video review😂 I got the SW002A, the gold one with white strap. I think gold lettering on the white dial makes it pop. Thanks for the great review Teddy!
just bought my next watch! As a drummer this was right up my alley. thanks for the video! cant wait to get this!
Gave one as a gift. Fantastic piece
im a learning guitarist and this is my favorite watch
What a unique offering from Seiko! As someone who studied music in undergrad, this seems right up my alley. Apart from its metronome functionality, I am digging the overall aesthetic of the face. Thanks for covering this.
Musician here, you can bet I enjoyed the idea! It’s a lot like how you’ve put it, though: a fun conversation starter related to a hobby or passion of yours.
I could see it being useful if, alongside the beep, it also produced a vibration similar to that of a phone. That way, you could feel the vibration in your pulse while you’re playing, whereas otherwise you’d have to prop it up in front of you, given the beep sound doesn’t appear to be loud enough to be heard over most music instruments.
It does look cool, the function is neat and if another musically inclined person happens to spot the nomenclatures, you already have a great ice breaker.
I like it. I'm a Seiko fanboy, been wearing a series 5 automatic for over 12 years now (on my second one now). When I was instructing guitar, metronome use was an every day thing both at home and at the university. Many times those would fail, either battery power would cut out or just electrical or mechanical failure. Having a backup, especially one you just can't lose as easily, would be very tempting. Even at the $200 mark, if I were contemplating a $75-$100 dedicated metronome and found out about this... I would probably get this watch as it would NOT be a novelty but a truly functional time piece. After all, metronomes just tell you the time. I prefer automatic watches because I am, generally, an active person. But, this feature would be worth dealing with yearly battery replacement. I say yearly because I KNOW that I wouldn't make 2 years on a battery, that puppy would see some serious usage.
I’ve been playing music since I was 8, this watch is on my wish list. I have smaller wrists and love seiko, definitely a function I could see myself using!
I have a strong music inclination and I’m a Seiko fan. 😍 I’m already in love with this rarity. I hope they’re testing the waters for future improved iterations.
Are you trying to convince yourself to buy one?
Amazing use case, love it.
As a musician myself, I LOVE the concept of this watch. Out of the many unique watch styles, this has to be one of the best. I can easily see myself owning it, but I need to find a good place that sells them.
Love it! I might just get it, thank you
As a very Amateur musician and watch lover I think it’s really cool! Thanks Teddy👍
This thing is awesome. It’s not for me, but thank you for highlighting this, Teddy & Team.
Did see a review before but you sold me on this - bought one for my daughter as a surprise - she plays a variety of instruments - cello and trumpet as well as piano.
Love love love this!
It's the shape as well as the color that differentiate the hands. This is a most desirable watch--even if you're not collecting.
Love it but can’t seem to find it anywhere! Any idea where I can buy one?
This is awesome and so useful
Oh Seiko you never cease to surprise me!
That would be super handy, and I like the styling. My phone is usually tied up with Guitar Tabs, so a Metronome that's always with me sounds killer.
Pretty neat, may have to pick one of these up for my brother. He isnt a watch guy but he is a band director, cool piece with a very specific unique complication
You get this watch in the shop and I’m all over it baby!
I was eagerly awaiting when you'd make a video on this one! I've had my eyes on it for a while and as a musician, it'd be a perfect gimmick watch that ACTUALLY looks good too :)
A really nicely quirky watch! Might get one to sit alongside my Stop2Go as a bit of a conversation piece
I played the piano and this watch is so cool. Very helpful for people starting music.
This is easily one of the coolest movements ever. As a music teacher, this is such a great tool for daily wear and it looks great too
That is very cool Teddy!!
Watches like this is the reason why Seiko is awesome. Only one who truly keeps innovating with what you can do with quartz movement and sound. All mechanical is cool, but custom purpose built quartz-movements is exciting. Don't care of connected smartwatches as that tech wont be there after 100 years, quartz/kinects will still work like it does now,. Watches like this are are the coolest thing out there in the attainable price range.
Innovating quartz complications, yeaaah! Pure love Seiko!
Also, innovations like this - custom movements NOT manufactured in China, are the way to keep the piracy lagging. They can make everything with top tier quality, BUT they do not spend R&D on innovating their own custom movements. Engineering skills to build quartz-complications ain't common, ground to gain here with fast innovations.
Would be so exciting to work with taking this sort of tech to next level, and experiment like microbrands. New quartz/electric watches that do not try to be smart watches are so cool. In a way equal or even more amazing wtihing the horologic innovations seen in 10k-150k range as these are something you can actually buy. This is real progress.
I've had my eyes on this watch for a while, definitely gonna be my next seiko buy!
Thanks for sharing something unique and interesting. Might get one for my piano teacher.
Looks like a fun watch! I like the clean dial etc.
WOW! That is just soooo cool! God I love Seiko ❤
Excellent watch for a musician. Going to get one as a gift for my son, who is a pianist.
I’ve never heard of this watch. I thought as a Seiko fan I knew all the range. Lovely fun watch. I would definitely have one.
I play guitar and love this. Very cool watch. I’m going through a lot of health stuff but always love your videos. Always a great distraction from things. Your channel is my go to for watch related content.
