You're right about moding, its rarely because you want to get a cheap deal, its usually because you want something a bit unique that appeals to you, not every one else. Thats why I like the concept
These mods are easy & fun. I bought SKXMOD's AE1200 case (full polished, sterile w/ black bezel) and I got JaysAndKays adapters (recommended!) that allowed me to fit a 22mm FKM strap. I found a black strap works with the black bezel. The A168/F105 case is less interesting to me because it's a bit small on my wrist, but I'm a fan and I'll be keeping an eye on SKXMOD to see what they'll come up with.
I got some JaysAndKays adapters for my GM5600, and put it on a metal bracelet for about $40 and it (almost) feels like the $400 ($550 retail) all metal GMWB5000D.
Nice. I have the Casio A1000 dark mother of pearl dial with the oyster style bracelet. I love that watch. This kit looks cool, but I wish there’d be a way to keep the Casio branding.
I have an AE1200 with every mod available except for the oil filed case. I love it so was excited to check out the A168 options. The case, caseback etc are all great and definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you like the 168 however, for me one of the most appealing things about them is the colours on the faceplate, you look at them and are instantly taken back to the 90s (for me anyway) I dont this i would buy the mods for this reason. SKX MOD need to offer a coloured faceplate 😉👌
I love that silver one, it looks great and arguably better than the new Casiotron at 1/3 the price. I just got my first DW5600e and modded it with a longer adjust button, £5 to make a very popular Casio better 😁. Great video 👍
Nice def will mod mine I love my SKX Royale mod with Safire matte stainless everything with white backlight and digimesh display. The hard coat is actually impressive as mines scratch free after months . Totally changes the watch into something that feels much more substantial and tough as nails so far. This is perfect imo
I was wondering when you would post this video. I LOVE this mod. I’m not huge fan of the AE1200, but I have an A168 which I don’t wear much because it feels so cheap. I’m KICKING myself because they are already sold out of the satin silver case. I reached out to them, and they said, they will restock on 03/20. You can bet I’m buying it then. Thanks for showing us your combinations.
@@Unwoken_European There’s almost not a Casio I don’t like. The A700 looks awesome. I’ve never handled one, but I’m sure it’s like the A168, where it looks awesome but feels a little bit like a toy. I like the A1000 also. I was considering that one as well as the A1100, but Dave from Just the Watch (I believe he was the first to show this Mod) showed this Mod, I knew I had to get it. I’m of the adage of wear what you want and enjoy it. Sorry for the rambling answer.
I think I would make the stealthiest one possible: matte black case, sterile matte black face plate, matte black bracelet / black rubber strap with matte black buckle, negative display. And if it is possible, I would add a red filter in front of the display. But maybe also would be great with standard "positive" display too. And for the coolness factor I think a spare rubber strap in red, with matte black buckle would be cool. Anyway, I have W-800 and a Rdunae RA-03 Vietnam war era field watch homage (yes, it is 34,5mm small, and I have about 6.3" / 16cm wrist, so small watches are great for me), and I have not much interest in many function. If it's accurately shows the time - as any quartz it is - and I like the look of it, and fits on my wrist, it is welcome for me.
Thanks for sharing. the royale with a color film on the screen look awesome for 150 $/€. I have a litle question for you, wat it is that blue one on your wrist?
Quick edit... I just went and checked. I don't have a stock one to compare it to, but I can hear it but it's not overly loud. Although it's about the same volume as my stock G-Shock if that helps any. So for me if I'm in a deep sleep I don't think either alarm would wake me up. But if I'm walking around and just need something to remind me, it's loud enough
I personally feel the Casio A1000 is better looking and a better value. It's pretty much the same size, but thinner! I followed the development of this mod. I was hyped. In the end I'm disappointed they made it A168-size instead of F91W-size. If it were smaller like the F91W, then it would differentiate itself from the A1000 and I'd be all over it.
I believe they're working on a f91w. They mentioned something about the module being drastically different from the one for these. I think they're hoping it would be one for both but didn't work out that way.
@@RelativeTime No, the original A168 with the black, red, and blue 80’s color scheme. The SKX mods replace this portion of the watch with the new glass and they do not have a mod that can put that look back on the watch.
Id buy this in a heartbeat if the new face wasn't so bland. I like the classic look with all the branding and text and colors, I don't want all silver or all black, and the lettering options aren't enough
@@RelativeTime If thats possible I'll buy it right now lol. I was already trying to figure out in my head how I could cut some thin plastic to the faceplate size and print on the back of it... but that sounds much easier
We have technology but we lost our souls. This modding is all about it. It has nothing to do with Casio. It is about people who wants to eat a cake and have a cake.
How are we having and eating our cake. Also, if I eat the cake, I'll just get another. And why are you being so dramatic about what other people are doing with their lives and money?
If Casio had listened to their fans and were not the product of capitalism that they have become over the past 20 years, they would have made similar watches themselves.
@@RelativeTimeThey tried with the A1000 model, putting the same module there as the much cheaper A700 and screwing up with water protection. With such a price and materials, it would be possible to make at least a WR50.

Very cool mods Shane. Apart from missing the Casio branding , it's really excellent. Love the matte black one .
The stainless steel case with gunmetal, sunburst dial and SS bracelet looks sharp
These are definitely worth it and as you said it's fun! I do like the Bronze version!

Stickers unless you have a laser engraver
The delorean and the brushed steel case side by side is perfect
Thanks. It seemed like a perfect combo. lol
I am in the construction field and I use “we have the technology” all the time and it never fails to get a laugh.
I wish they made some plastic sticker that you can have between the face plate with the classic logo ans all the text as on a original.
That's a great idea
Great mod video. I like seeing a great watch get a facelift. Take care Shane

Big improvement, but I'd prefer a bigger display. Maybe they'll make something for the AE-1500?

Wow. The stealth mod is cool.
A watch of which Steve Austin would be proud!
You can now read the time from a mile away, at night, when being worn by Sasquatch.
the steel on steel is my pick.. i wish they would make these kits for the A500 as well.
As Nike would say.. "JUST DO IT" 💪😎

Like this mod and I will order the parts. The only issue I have is that the faceplate feels a bit empty.
Better than it was before? Better? Stronger? Faster?
Look tempting!
Great video, just one comment I have. Style isn’t always function, and vice versa

That's a nodus unity. Bought it late last year, but haven't finished the review yet.
@@RelativeTime Cool, Watling for it soo 😁 (thanks for the answer)
Is it "no way Hosse!" in plain Texan too? Or (like all over...) "free try or won't buy"?
I wish the satin version would have some polishing, kinda like Casio's A1000. Full brushed steel looks a bit bland.
I know skx mods has to worry about copyrights but I wonder if I could use a scanner and printer to make an original style face
Getting old...need...glasses
The technical term is presbyopia. It means old man eyes, or elder vision.
Welcome to the club.
Do they make cases for the W800H?
And inverse dial. YES.
Guys, are there any mods for A700 ?
where can you find these mods? website is not longer online
Its still up. For some reason it stoped likiing the "www" in front of the URL, but link should work now.

I have one of these, it's called the Casio A1000.
So they sent you sterile dial, are you able to use the original dial?
If I remeber right, I don't think you can. I think they said it was glued to the orginal crystal and extremly dificult to get off.
Apparently the steel case makes the alarm redundant as you cant hear it well - can someone confirm?

It’s NOT better until they replicate the color scheme of the original!

DAMN SEXY. A Must Have.
Honestly? this is how you take a cheap casio and turn it into the digital version of a rolex explorer.
This thing will last pretty much forever.

What if you used the faceplate the watch came with? Which says Casio.
If Casio had listened to their fans and were not the product of capitalism that they have become over the past 20 years, they would have made similar watches themselves.
