Thanks for this episode. WRABIT albums were very hard to get here in Germany so I never got one. I think especially "Wrough & Wready" is an awesome album and were they Americans they could have been MUCH bigger! First two albums were better than the 3rd imho. I knew about the band shortly after I became a huge fan of Lee Aaron. First time Lee Aaron played in Germany was at their "Metal Queen" period Co-Headlining with BON JOVI, who were not a big name May 1985 at their "7800° Fahrenheit" Tour, maybe 400 or 500 visitors there; Lee Aaron were playing first, imho they should have been headlining over Bon Jovi. Was lucky enough the guy from Roadrunner asked me during Bon Jovi's set, he's driving to the hotel now and would I like to do an interview with Karen (= Lee Aaron)! That was a very special thing for me and I remember John Albani, he didn't like one question but that was just a translation misunderstanding from German / English and my subpar English at the time... I know later that evening Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora tried to pick up on Karen, no surprise, eh... ? Was "mad" at John Albani once... after a show (Winter 1986) from the "Call of the wild" tour, friend of mine and me were singing "She's the lady of the darkest night..." just below the hotel room where Karen and him were staying! Probably a stupid idea, or we were just "high" from the show, but still I remember it to this day, it was damn cold and we both had no place to stay and need to wait till the next morning at the railway station anyway, when a train will bring us home, thats how "crazy" we were as fans of music back then! I do remember she opens the window as to thank us, he came to the window, shook his head in disbelieve and closed the curtain and shut the window (on us). A week later I was on another show from that same tour and George Bernhardt recognises me from the show before and thanked me during the opening bands playing for coming out (again). Karen was always super-nice to me on all shows and when I met her, I guess John Albani was just over-protective and just saw me as a nerd or (drunken) fanatic. ( Karen has found a very supportive and cool husband in John Cody (her drummer, who I also met) and father of her kids so everything turns out great in the end.) Sorry for the long post, Dan.

Hahahahaha! First of all, never apologize for long comments! I love reading them all and this one especially had some cool anecdotes and stories attached to them! I would say this is one of the better stories/comments I've had on my channel that I found a very interesting read! Great and funny! Thanks for sharing! Ya, here in Canada the Wrabit is sort of easy to find and not expensive... had to go through discogs to get them as I have NEVER seen them in used stores here... Mind you, i never actively looked for them either... hahahaha But yeah, good hard rock band which i still find fresh today! Keep your comments and stories coming! I really did enjoy this one! :)

Hey Dan, great to see Wrabit getting some love! Btw the singer's name is Lou Nadeau (not Les). Anyway Anytime, Just Tell Me What To Do, Just Go Away, Run For Cover, There Was A Time, Don't Lose That Feeling & Young Girl are career highlights! The cover by Chuck Jones is very cool! Dave Alpin played with Sebastian Back in a local Toronto band called Kid Wikkid (pre-Skid Row). Chris Brockway played in a band called Hanover Fist for their only album as well! Keep Rockin'!

@@offthecharts2272 Kid Wikkid never really put out an album but had a couple tunes on a Canadian compilation called Maple Metal. The song Take a Look at Me is a great tune! Hanover Fist had a good song called Hungry Eyes (which became the title track for their album on re-issue, with a poor album cover compared to the original...) Standing Six, is another quality track from that album. This is heavier music than Wrabit with the singer having a melodic but gruff sounding voice! Pretty good stuff! Keep Rockin'!

You get a thumbs up just for doing an episode on Wrabit!
I only found out about them just a few months ago. I saw an interview with Lee Aaron and John Albani, and John talked about the band he was in before teaming up with Lee Aaron.
Then I was looking at the cover of The Lee Aaron Project - the original cover - and I noticed Wrabit on the cover in three places.
So I checked Amazon and found the first two albums had been reissued in Japan, and I snatched them up right away.
Yes, he was on Emotional Rain, too. John was.

Hi Dan! I bought the Canadian version of their debut from mail order here in Finland about -83, based on the picture of album cover in catalogue. Wouldn't have bought international version lol. Couldn't find it in my collection though and didn't remember anything about the music. I might have sold or lost it.
It's not in Tidal, but I found it from TH-cam and listening as I type. From the first three songs I'm pretty sure it was too pop for me back then and probably singer's falsetto (like in Pushin' On) put me off. Now it sounds much better 😁
Btw, don't know about you but when I was a kid I used to buy a lot of records without listening or never hearing about particular band, just checked cover and tried to judge by that if they are heavy/hard rock 😆 It was kinda hit (Magnum/On a Storyteller's Night) and miss (too many to list here).

    • @offthecharts2272

Ya, i also would not have bought the International version of this album as a kid... LOL But now I have it! :) And I totally get you, I used to buy records without listening to them simply by the cover (and maybe the back to see if there was a band pic)... you couldnt "test" music back then... it was all blind (unless you saw them on MTV or MuchMusic)... Some were hits, some were misses... but that was what was great about the "treasure hunting" :)
