    I own this bike, yes it's expensive but I've done over 2000 commuter miles on it so far and it still looks brand new. I live in London so you don't want to leave an e-bike chained to a lamp post (it will be stolen). The fact that this folds and sits under my desk at work is perfect. It's small, light, compact and gets me from North to South London every day in about 15 minutes (no shower needed at the end). I expect this bike will last for many years and will easily pay for its self vs taxis or public transport.

      I own the Go Cycle GS and also live in London, been riding to work pretty much every day for the past year. I do like the bike however there are a couple of things which I'm not that happy about however in saying that I would probably still buy it again as I feel the pro's outweigh the negatives.

    • @genuine74boomer
      @genuine74boomer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrFooChops What are the negatives would you say? I currently commute using a regular bike but want to knock out the need to shower and change at either end as I only have a 6 mile commute either way...thanks!

    • @MrFooChops
      @MrFooChops 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@genuine74boomer I also cycle 6 mile each way. By the time I arrive to work I still find myself a tad bit sweaty but it's not that big of issue for me cos it's still cold or whatever but yeah I'd be lying if I said I arrived there not sweaty at all. The negatives are 1. The app is extremely shite! You will just use it to setup your bicycle the first time and never want to use it again. Ask anyone that owns a GoCycle and they will tell you the same, also check the Play Store/Apple Store if curious. It annoys me that such an expensive bicycle is paired up with such a truly rubbish app. The other thing is the rear mud guard, when I wear a back pack I get dirty water coming back up onto the back of my back pack. If I don't wear a backpack I don't get any dirty water on me and they have replaced the mudguard for me but this still happens. Initially it looked like the mudguard wasn't covering the width of the tyre enough but after having it replaced and the problem still persisting I'm really confused as to what's the problem. I would be interested to know if any other users experience this. Lastly I would just say what I wish someone else told me before I purchased and that is to fully read the manual before purchasing. You can download this from their website. I'm the kind of person that wants to use such an expensive item exactly by the book to avoid damages that they may not otherwise cover if they found I was using it incorrectly hence why I say read the manual. One thing that I recall being highlighted is the fact they say not to ride over bumps etc which sounds pretty stupid when you think about it but yeah. This is to avoid damages to the motor. Because of this I often find myself trying to avoid even the smallest bumps which isn't something I had thought of before purchasing. I think that's it for the negatives.
      One of the good things I like about the bike is it's overall size and minimalist look. Because of this it makes storing in my very tight corridor in my tiny flat quite easy.

    • @MrFooChops
      @MrFooChops 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@genuine74boomer Another thing that could also be better is the gears. In London I find myself only ever in 2nd gear but want to change up a gear, unfortunately 3rd can be to hard so there should really be another gear between 2nd and 3rd or make 3rd less difficult

    I bought one. Like many of your have said, it’s expensive, not that well made, looks nice, for the price you can buy this and that other ebike etc. For me, it fits in the trunk of my 2 seater convertible, the gears and chain are enclosed so it doesn’t dirty my clothes or hands when I put in and take it out of my car, it’s not heavy for me and minimize the risk of back injury, it folds and unfolds easily, when folded, it’s not awkward to move around at all. I agree the bike itself as an ebike that you just ride around, you would be a fool to pay this much. But, I’m ok to pay that premium in order for me to take it wherever I want to ride . Everyone has different priorities, this bike isn’t for everyone. Lastly, I’ve been stopped by ppl on the street/bike trail, telling me how good the bike looks. No one has yet said it’s ugly.

    This or Brompton Electric. And no mudguards, really?

    • @Alanicus1
      @Alanicus1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve test ridden the Brompton Electric and would say that the GoCycle is vastly superior with a much better ride, better brakes and a modern clean design. The Brompton is quite old fashioned and the small tyres make it very uncomfortable and jerky to ride. The only advantage it’s the Brompton is that when folded it is somewhat smaller and it is also very slighter lighter. Overall the GoCycle is a clear winner and it isn’t even much more expensive than the Brompton (£2,900 vs £2,800 here in the UK)

    This is not a cheap bike and for the price mud guards & lights should be expected! I'm not a fan of using my expensive mobile phone as a bike computer either as Gocycle and other ebike manufacturers seem to think this is ok? It has a limited battery range, in all other areas it shows what can be achieved, but I'm afraid the high price is a deal breaker.

      Brompton electric is a clunky old fashioned design and is very uncomfortable to ride with very poor rim brakes and useless suspension. Way overrated. The GoCycle is about the same price and has a vastly better spec. The only advantage with the Brompton is that it folds into a slightly smaller space.

    Bike guys are sticklers for bike geometry. What you called 120 degrees really is 60 degrees for the seat tube angle, a very slack or relaxed angle. The real angle is less relaxed since the seat tube usually points straight to the center of the bottom bracket and the GoCycle seat tube virtually points ahead of the bottom bracket. Useless info if you don't know the implications of such angles but a bike fit guru would beg to differ. I'm no guru, BTW.

    • @carolahmed3544
      @carolahmed3544 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      General Ivan Magnum Classic 2 is $1599 and has suspension. I own both the gocycle gx and the Magnum Classic 2. I far and away prefer the Magnum. I’ve stopped on the hill on my street to get mail (half way up the hill) and cannot get going again on the gocycle due to the need to be peddling 4mph to engage the motor. This is an absolute deal-breaker for me, which is why I bought the Magnum.I am selling my gocycle. I end up needing to walk the gocycle up the hill. It is not a problem whatsoever on the Magnum.The Magnum also comes standard with fenders, rear bike rack, lights, a 500w motto and a 48v battery. If you climb hills, be very leery of the gocycle, if you have to stop for any reason during the ascent.

    Electrical failure twice in 15 months and lengthy repair period (7 weeks and counting) and horrendously obnoxious people in charge of consumers has driven me to call this a Nocycle. That marketing line of it being maintenance free is of course absolute bullax.
    I would spend my hard earned money elsewhere, unless you want an expensive bike to keep in your closet or show off to your friends once a while.
    But if you really really want one my advice would be: read long term reviews and try squeezing longer warranty time out of them.
