glad the lock popped out before the 550 cord gave way. That would be a whole lotta energy being released into your hand (or whatever it hit). Unpopular opinion: I don't watch this to see you get hurt.
@@allstarwoo4 the amount of energy that rope is storing is the dangerous part, sending the chain back at a high velocity. Could definitely break some bones.

You probably already know this, but I will say it anyways: When you are putting tremendous pressure on a chain, you should really put a heavy fabric-like material over it, so of it snaps, it doesn't whip.
I think even a 14mm shackle shattered the teeth of a set of cutters. That being said. If you plan on retesting, I highly recommend more safety measures, cutting a slit in that wood to place lock and cutting teeth threw, as well as being able to apply pressure while not being in bitting distance of a metal hook on a chain that would only come lose once surpassing 2000pounds of pulling force, I want to see you have fun, not end up in a wheelchair from shattering your pelvis.
Your crazy Tyler 😂 Your trying to cut hardened steel with hardened steel! This is actually very dangerous as the hardening process leaves steel very brittle and susceptible to breaking/shattering during use.
Awesome try. I was one of the people commenting about strapping the handles together for more force. That was an unbelievable explosion from the lock 😂😂😂
Hi, I work with OSHA, we are a company hell bent on upholding human safety regulations in a work environment. I would like to inform you that this is and always will be the greatest dumb thing you could do. I’m glad you did it and made it out alive. I’ll detour any other OSHA employees looking for you. Fight the good fight brother.
@@skudsurfer you also have to take into account pick resistance. Lock Picking Lawyer on his channel has shown several really beefy bike locks that are easy to pick open making the extra strength useless.
Damn I was terrified the paracord was going to give out and the end of the handle was going to go flying into your hand, that could’ve done major damage to your hand or whatever it hit. Glad to see the lock slipped out before that. Great video it was fun to watch!
0:45 I love “please don’t break” knots. I use them for a lot of my projects. Just tell OSHA you’re making them more “what not to do” videos for them to show people.
You know stevemre? Every time there's something like "guy eats 100 year old food" you instantly go to him? Every time I hear about someone doing something bonkers in their garage I immediately think of tyler.
Literally used these exact bolt cutters to cut a bike lock last weekend. I put one handle on the ground and basically was jumping to put my whole weight on one side of the cutters. Worked like a charm. I was even able to return the bolt cutters for a full refund afterwards; they werent damaged at all
Hey Tyler! Cool idea to follow up to a video with something short and sweet like this, cool format if the opportunity presents itself in the future. Also you mentioned your mechanic days, i always wondered what you did before all this to have all this stuff in your garage.
there is a limit to the cutting force capable from those jaws, you'd need something like a hydraulic power to produce enough force to make them cut a bar that thick, but this is why grinders were invented!
Tyler you should try to collaborate with either the Hydrallic Press Channel or The King Of Random (make that channel great again for just one video lol)
The little black bolt sticking out of the side of the bolt cutters is a jaw adjustment. You should be able to adjust those jaws back to where they are closed if you turn it.
This channel is a great find. Been watching /binge watching for a while now. I like your frequency of videos and general variety. Would love to see Tyler come across with some merch, I know that would require considering how to brand yourself and I see you more as a down to earth guy who isn't interested in marketing himself. Nonetheless it would be nice if you got a survival tool branded with your channel name and logo. Maybe a plier multi-tool. Something you use for unboxings you would think we might like ourselves. You are definitely on the fringe of your channel going viral.
You proved this lock can NOT be defeated by your common thief...on multiple occasions! No one is walking around with all this equipment in their pocket just to still a bicycle. You have proven your point! Next step, something electrical, gas powered...! One a chainsaw, grinder, laser...
I mean, it might not cut the shackle, but the lock is pointless. You can take a power drill and drill out the lock mechanism. Just brute force the lock itself with a good drill bit. Get you a cobalt steel drill bit and a good high torque power drill. It'll grind the locking mechanism into scraps, and the bolt that holds the shackle together will just fall apart.
Honestly... I loved the excitment and suspense of this video and the result. Im glad it worked out the way it did... I have 1 complaint... could've angled the cameras and given a few replays/slow motions of the lock shooting out. Just a bit of editing is my only complaint and that honestly a minor one... lol
You really should order some kind of work table that's much more stable. They make folding ones that you could probably lock down to the floor with some kind of brackets, and then remove when you need the space again
You need more leverage. Anchor one of the handles down, on its side. Get a 10ft solid metal pole and weld it onto the other handle. More leverage translate to more force
I like the outro song that you have. I never stick around to the outro of any other TH-camr, because there's really no reason to. But your outro song is so cool that I want to listen to it every time I finish watching one of your videos lol
So basically, u bar will guard your item or cause a big production to defeat it in public broad daylight. Not to mention it will pose a danger to the thief on multiple levels.
"550" paracord is more of a designation or brand name, the actual load strength is printed on the packaging of the cord. Fyi I have NEVER seen regular thickness paracord with a load strength of 550 pounds, I have however seen slightly thicker cord with a working load of 600 pounds (also gotta compare static load and working load, something may have a static load of 550 pounds but you can break it with say 400 pounds under the right conditions)

Man. Even I was doing a safety squint just watching.
Knowing the brand of lock is a big thing, anything above 16mm of hardens boron shackle or chain can withstand even portable hydrologic cutters.
