*LOVE* the humor!!!! Interesting look at the Series 3. I like the light setup, as well. My initial thought was on the inside of the flipup door to flood the work area, but the offset setup has me rethinking it. One good thing about the magnetic installation - try one set up for a given length of time, if you don't like it, spend 15 minutes or so and try something different, and no mounting damage done to the box (screws, holes, etc.) Keep up the great content!!
The hutch is just empty space. Not that useful unless you need to be able to lock the area up every night. Can just lay stuff on top of the bottom cabinet. An entire chest with useful drawers is only $100 more.
I have a 66" Husky and an old 48" Husky and I keep thinking of upgrading to 2 56" U.S. Generals... I don't really need to but I think it would look really good in my shop! I like the idea of them matching and being a little smaller for mobility.
I bought some cheap metal tool organizers and made some brackets and riveted them to the shelves to make them fit in the slotted wall, and now I keep my chargers, impacts and drills in the hutch. It freed up the drill drawer, and I use the charging drawer for my Launch and other rechargable stuff. As for the stainless top, any sheet metal shop could cut one to fit the cabinet, but I like the rubber liner just fine. Bought the Icon light after watching this video. 👍
I just got the 56" box, hutch, side locker and 15" drawer unit. So far I'm satisfied with the quality. I tried to get the light and none of my stores had one so I said screw it and bought a generic light on Amazon and added magnets. I'm just a low end DIY guy so I think this box will serve me just fine
i finally seen one with the hutch in person and i may sell my snap on box for it, i have been hugely dissapointed with my box, my us general roll cart honestly has nicer sliding drawers than my box,and now that the us general has full lenght latch releases its kinda got me sold
The Den of Tools. That light for the hutch is awesome. I will be getting that fro my Matco toolbox. Thanks for showing it to us. Talking about the slots in the hutch. My Matco hutch doesn't have slots it has wholes in it like a pegboard but the wholes are way bigger than a regular pegboard. I can't seem to find anything that fits the darn thing.
Haven't tried these yet, but Wall Control advertises 8, 12, and 16 accessories. Looking into a 4x16" shelf. Will come back with status once I tested out
That magnetic hutch light is a really nice feature. After seeing the base up close in the pictures, it's too bad that the 2" thick base on the hutch does not have a slide out work shelf. I'm sure HF had a target price in mind and adding a concealed work shelf throws the target retail price out the window.
Thanks for the awesome reviews. Something to consider when comparing the general 3 with icon. Icon delivers! I had to pick up my us general 3. Harbour Freight loaded the pallet with toolbox onto my trailer. I drive it home. after I unloaded the General and unpacked it I discovered it was destroyed in shipping. Drawers would not even open. Harbor freight would not negotiate more than a 10% discount over the phone. I had no choice but to return it. It is very challenging loading the toolbox back into the trailer. Then drive it back to store and unload it for a refund. With icon I could have just said no thanks, please return it.
I'm a little salty I ordered my 72 inch slate gray box back in May when they released them. Back then they said early June I'd get it. Now it's gonna be early August.
I think the height issue is more related to it being a shorter box for the 6' and above guys so the hutch is sitting at a lower height. Not necessarily the hutch itself. Had a hutch on my matco box and it was too low for me, evem with th3 box sitting on 4" blocks of wood under the casters. I got rid of the hutch. Kept it for a year maybe. Probably 10 months.
Do you think that hutch would survive in the bed of flat bed... Bolted down? Not worried about pretty or water intrusion, I'm talking would it fall apart?
Do you think the 56” hutch will be able to set on the 72” tool chest? I’m thinking so but I have cabinetry that just keeps me from being able to put the full length hutch on top. It would give me a 16” flat surface top of the tool chest to use as a shelf…
My only complaint about the hutch is how far the door sticks out compared to the Icon. I have a tendency to wack my head every so often leaning forward for some stuff.
I see a lot of mention of the hutch working on the 56" Series 2 but not Series 1 and I am confused. Currently I have a Seriws 2 56" top box on my Series 1 bottom box without issue including bolting them together. Am I missing something about the hutch not working on my Series 1 bottom box?
Got mine on sale recently for $105 off, just waiting on my side locker to get delivered, they are now telling it's been pushed back 10 weeks. I guess slate grey lockers are insanely popular or they are having to make mine?!?!?
Ok I have a question for you being an ever. I would like to know which is better to use in an RV a brad nailer or an air strike nailer? Never needed one but I have some trim work I need to repair. Thanks for your help. Tool on....
Honestly, in most cases, glue is your best option, but I would use a Brad nailer if I had to. RV manufacturing is so like you can’t go with anything heavier. Most of stuff I see them do is with staples.
Can you do a video on how this is installed? I have an extreme tools 72×30 with a stainless steel hutch and don't feel like forking out 3k for the hutch, and feel like this will be a good middle ground. Any thoughts? Also thinking about trying to somehow hang the series 3 side cabinet on my box
No install per say as it just sits on top of the roller cabinet. The US Gen bottom boxes all have a lip around the edge and that plus it's own weight holds it in place. There might have been additional lockdown bolts if there were I didn't use them.
I have a series 1 box the new series 3 drawers in the middle still cannot store 1/2 or 3/4 deep sockets standing up. Like the drawer latches. If I owned a high level shop I would get a Matco or Mac box
Have had truck brands. Truth I'm getting rid of old snap on box for simple fact to get a hutch cost is the same as buying 72 icon box and hutch with the Ss top. They are all made the same just name on stamp makes the price go up
@TheDenofTools I’m wondering, how possible is it to remove the base on this hutch? I got a stainless steel worktop i really don’t want to loose and was wondering how critical of a component is it to the integrity of the hutch. Thanks!
Any word if there will be a choice of black trim or bright trim on the Series 3? Series 2 was only available in bright trim, it would look a little silly to have a top box with black trim, or a locker with black trim when the rest of your storage is bright trim. Thoughts?
I officially received my complete setup today. Going from snap on to this. Im not let down. In fact im surprised butttt the hutch doesn’t secure to the box. Major downfall. Gonna drill some self tappers through cause I don’t think it’s right not to have it secure. Next is the fact they don’t have any attachments for the hutch only ones I found are 45 a piece !
I’ve been between the us general or the icon. The only thing stopping me is the color choices on the icon. I’d love to see orange added to the line up. Anyway you could ask your contact at harbor freight about any updates they plan to make to the line up? Thanks!
That completely depends on how you use it. Personally, I like having the workspace I’m probably gonna get rid of my tekton box and get a 44 bottom and top box to go along side this
Love your channel. I recently purchased 3 USG toolboxes and I want to get the Icon light bar for my 72". I cannot order it online and the store locator doesn't work on the website to locate one of these. I went to my local store and they couldn't order it for me either, but they did find one at another store about 1.5 hours away. I called to verify they had it in stock, and the claimed they did. I drove there only to have them tell me they couldn't find it and then couldn't order it either. It's frustrating to me that I cannot get one of these using every method. Do you have any suggestions? Or a contact at HF I could order this from? I need at least one, maybe two.
Do you know if the hercules and Bauer batteries are interchangeable, thanks for the videos, I finally talked my wife into letting me get this box. Keep up the great work. 👍
I don't understand why so many decide to buy the hutch. The hutch is just empty space. Not that useful unless you need to be able to lock the area up every night. Can just lay stuff on top of the bottom cabinet. An entire top chest with useful drawers is only $100 more.
Get harbor freight to make av30 inch deep tool chest with all drawers from side to side and bring back the shiny handles with drawers a different color from the main box…… I’m tired of not having storage for my 58 inch prybars! And I’m not going to buy a crap-on truck branothat cost over $30,000….
Does anyone know or can confirm what accessories can be used in the hutch (talking about the backboard slot system specifically) I want to know before I start buying snap-on accessories like the monitor mount and laptop trays. If someone can confirm that would be great, thank you.
I don’t see the point in a hutch for a home gamer. If you’re wrenching for a living sure I get it but for a guy like me who wants a decent box for the home garage I don’t see the point.

Jeff, you are a voice of reason amid all the fanboys out there. Thanks! Note: just because something's on YT, doesn't mean one "has" to have it.

Hello again, Jeff and Bear 🐻 Family
Thank you for another Great Video 👍
I have the 36” hart combo I got for half off and it’s been great for my garage shop. This would be a huge upgrade.
When does the series 3 end lockers coming out?
I think the height issue is more related to it being a shorter box for the 6' and above guys so the hutch is sitting at a lower height. Not necessarily the hutch itself. I can’t think of a reason why it wouldn’t fit
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing
Wonder what it would look like on a krl1023

Thanks as always 🐻!!
Will the new style US series 3 56" hutch fight the US series 2 56" base unit
Let me know if you find out. I would like to know too.
It fits perfectly.
I want to get the 72" cart but its the same price to get 2 x 56"
Love the sticker sign joke made me laugh way to hard when is different trim colors coming out
Fall on the trim colors.

Best torque wrench for the money? Basically will be used for lug nuts since my dealership refuses to do 5 tire rotation.

To add I can’t get the icon one because its deeper than the box I’m trying to put it on, the us general is the exact depth for my box
Not going to happen without a grinder.
@@denoftools i thought so, thank you!
Is it for the 72" ir the 56"?

I believe they will be coming out with trim accessory kits later this year
Awesome! Fingers crossed. Thanks!@@denoftools
I would say the metal on the icon is better than US General I think Icon for work and US general for the home garage
for the money, these are great boxes.
I officially received my complete setup today. Going from snap on to this. Im not let down. In fact im surprised butttt the hutch doesn’t secure to the box. Major downfall. It looks like it would be easy to bump your head on this hutch when open???
Looks like good stuff. Thank you

I have not heard of any changes coming for the Ike online. Have you seen the icon scratch and dent website?
I have a 44” I’m going to add 2 ends cabinets 1 on each side make 73” now I can buy the 72” work center hutch
I love the hutch but I would also like to put a bench vise on the top, is the working surface strong enough to do that?
if i bolted the vise through the top into a plywood backing underneath would that be enough support?
I’m going to buy mine tomorrow.
I purchased the 72inch. Was it suppose to come with the light bar? I can’t seem to find it on their site.
It doesn’t come with one, but you can use the icon brand light bar with it
Can anyone tell me the specific height of the 56 and 72 boxes without the wheels
When it comes to hutch VS top chest what would be the better options for a DIYer/prosumer?
That completely depends on how you use it. Personally, I like having the workspace I’m probably gonna get rid of my tekton box and get a 44 bottom and top box to go along side this
@@denoftools makes sense. I have a 52" craftsman box I can probably use for tool overflow and have the hutch workspace
Where do you get that light at?? Just bought my 56" hutch yesterday
It's the Icon light from HF.

I would call Harbor Freight and tell them about the problem you’re having and see if they can do something for you
You're right, a half an inch wouldn't make a difference. For me to find it comfortable to work in it would need to be 4 or 5 inches taller.
Will they have a hutch for the 56in?? That's compatible with the series 2
All of series 3 is backwards compatible
Do you know if the hercules and Bauer batteries are interchangeable, thanks for the videos, I finally talked my wife into letting me get this box. Keep up the great work. 👍
No they are not
It’s funny cause a master tech at my dealership has a black snap on next to a black us general.
I don't understand why so many decide to buy the hutch. The hutch is just empty space. Not that useful unless you need to be able to lock the area up every night. Can just lay stuff on top of the bottom cabinet. An entire top chest with useful drawers is only $100 more.

Same thing on lawn mowers and ladders black falling off white doing right

thank u sir
Thank you for the information, friendly neighborhood tool bear.
Good lord for the price they charge for stainless tops I'm about to start selling them aftermarket and retire In a Couple years.
Jajajaja 13:50
Listen guys just get a 20 dollar led strip battery powered and motion detection instead of the icon light. Way easier to install and cheaper
Interesting idea. I just ordered a set off of Amazon to compare them.
@@denoftools please post a video sir
I love the white

The white and black ... Wow 😅 if HF is watching they may have thay sinking awkward feeling.
I'm so jealous
Cool
