People are definitely sleeping on Wings of Sacred Dawn + Whisper for The Witness. You can basically just ignore the dps mechanic by floating in the air and firing uninterrupted
People sleep on that part of the super. My clan has been doing crota recently and I easily top our damage numbers with lament because of that. Also works very well with outbreak stacking, very easy 1 rotation of Hfend from Warlords. If I play with people that struggle putting up numbers during that fight I will just have everyone switch to outbreak. I gotta test it with a full Rat King stack though, squeak squeak.
Been using it with still hunt and now I have all range devastation, like I'm not joking shit's amazing being nigh unkillable and reaching across the map to delete 3 things (or just 1) for a few seconds
Dragon's Breath + Hazardous + Twilight Arsenal + Embraced Identity (Appended Mag + Back-Up Mag + Enhanced Rewind Rounds + Enhanced Fourth Time's the Charm + Triple Void Reserves = Supremacy on a better Frame) = Me being a happy Sentinel Titan for DPS. I can benefit from Expanding Abyss AND Sniper's Meditation at the same time on my Sniper Rifle as well as Solar Fulmination on Dragon's Breath. Overcharged Armory and Winning Hand, too, and Winning Hand even gets buffed because I'm using Embraced Identity and The Call, so two weapons with Dealer's Choice. I use Controlled Demolitionist and Offensive Bulwark and let me tell you, Controlled Demo + Echoes of Undermining, Remnants, & Expulsion + Vortex Grenades + Dragon's Breath is a thing of beauty. Everything explodes in Purple and Orange. Constantly. Echo of Starvation + Offensive Bulwark means I have grenades up really frequently, too. Twilight Arsenal is just the cherry on top. The only problem I have is that I need a couple more Artifact Mod Slots. Well, one for right now. I need Shieldcrush. Even more bonus melee damage and increased Melee Regen is rather nice. I guess Prismatic Transfer would be nice as well. As would Threaded Blast for when my teammates make a Tangle and ignore it because they're on Prismatic and Prismatic has little to no Tangle interaction.
Dragon's breath has so much more utility and versatility. Still hunt is very much just, you thing go away now and it takes two exotics to do it. Which is why I think it should have the highest single target DPS in the game

Man D.A.R.C.I., as the smart rifle needs two things, its damage to stack as long as you keep hitting crits on the same target (a la Precision Instrument, but without that harsh of a time penalty between shots) and then last shot to be refunded as long as Personal Assistant (and that stacking x6 damage buff) is active. So, it has 7 in the mag, you shoot the first 6 to stack, the 7th refreshes the damage buff and keeps reloading itself as long as you keep it on target. Without any touching to its damage numbers I bet it'd become at least viable.
The Widows Bite that Banshee sold this week, (PULSE MONITOR, DEMOLITIONIST), is a fking lit roll that allows constant shooting and or full blowing of thy load(sit in a rift or healing turret under semi-heavy fire, grenade as spice)
I think you can increase the dmg a lot if you use one holster mod at least so you don't have to reload that last shot and when you activate still hunts super it refills your mag
I don't know if you noticed but in your damage testing. The ignitions weren't going off every 3 shots. It was actually going off when you hit the 4th one. Not sure if it's a delay or a glitch. 6:40 when you were doing the damage testing for Ikelos
It's the ignition animation. You can only start to build up to the next ignition if the previous one did its damage. This results in rapid fire snipers to ignite every 5th shot after the first ignition and all others on the 4th shot.
Idk why but I like the way you do your content so much more than other like Rick and them I feel like playing and getting to learn from you would be actually fun
Can you test out Full court at Witness? Cascade point/ Full court and still hunt might be disgusting. Extra benifit is if you die you still get the 25% damage buff instead of losing your explosive light stacks or having to reset BnS. You’d also benifit from the fragment that gives you more damage to a darkness debuffed target and the artifact mod that allows extra damage from void to weakened targets and if you have a eternal warrier class item you get a 25% damage buff there as well. Might be worth looking into.
For that Ergo Sum test, you should try it again but with a caster frame. The lingering damage procs perfect fifth so you can use it from a distance like the sniper rifles.
Hey cross (and possible other dps testers) i got a question real quick: Why not use Rain of Fire warlock to test the dps of the weapons? Far as i know, it reloads all equipped weapons in virtually the same time window as hunter dodge but with an abismally shorter cooldown in the form of icarus dash. So why not that?
I’ve always thought this too My guess is cuz although Hunter dodge is longer it doesn’t eat up that exotic slot And also is on all subclasses while rain requires too much Ie solar subclass and Icarus aspect Which replaces some of the better aspect and or subclasses like strand or void But it would be nice to see more use out of it in dps phases but other things seems to be more viable
I think cross generally goes for the least setup possible. He mostly compares weapon damage (sometimes with passive buffs from exotics) rather than comparing rotations, which is what ROF really leans into. He also tests within like a 8 second damage phase, so ROF isn’t gonna make a huge difference there. If you want ROF accounted for check Aegis on youtube for his spreadsheet, it’s crazy in depth
As a Hunter main I’m sticking with StillHunt over Whisper. Still Hunt ease of use is way higher. The moment you miss with Whisper your damage is thrown off. The other thing is…SH is SPECIAL ammo! Way easier to get special than heavy ammo.
Bro I got an adept wildstyle yesterday with recon/incandescent so I enhanced them and slapped on ember of char and eruption and the ignitions are insane! The reloads happen so quick you barely have to stow it.
Crouching lessons the flinch because it grants very small stability to weapons, or maybe not. Idk lol. I just know it helps with recoil/stability utility at least
Guys did you know that each solar sniper takes four shots for an ignition. With ember of ashes though it takes 3. This makes rapid fires better. But remember there's a lot of things happening to help this. In case you missed it in the video!
stasis hunter would prob benefit any non solar sniper more than a solar subclass in terms of reloading. you get 2-3 shurikans and each can reloadd your sniper when it hits a target
You should have tested still hunt without nighthawk, the way the numbers ramp with the sniper buff might be interesting to see, especially with the nerf coming to still/hawk interaction.
@DanielMorales-jm3ll short hop timing is harder. It's also harder to dodge while scoped, and you have to scope to keep whispered breathing up. If you are on heat rises you could definitely use whisper though
Borealis cooked when it was a heavy. The exotic buff used to give 100% dmg bonus and if you reloaded it with hunter dodge or had ahamkara you could keep it for the full mag.
Would've been nice to see Levi with expanding abyss since he used the solar mods for snipers. A void sniper with expanding and meditation would've been nice to see too.
It would be really cool to see a fire team test with deterministic chaos Vs divinity for the weaken debuff which would be 25% because of the artifact mod if the rest of the fire team use void weapons like leviathans breath

Song of Flame gives your Solar and Kinetic weapons scorching ammo. I'd be interested to see what numbers Supremacy does with Dawn Chorus in that combination. Pop Song of Flame, don't use the super but use Supremacy. It would easily last the duration of that damage phase too
I know the main focus was snipers, but it's a shame you didn't throw in Microcosm, because that or Levvys breath is the go to for non-hunters against the Witness, so it be great to see if Whisper is worth taking over that now especially as the ammo economy might be better.
after the upcoming celestial nerfs, the total damage shunt will do will be around 1,175,675 (based on your best run), with shunt doing around 400k dmg per hit instead of 540k
should try last foray with envious assassin - focused fury, probably not the best but if you don't have ikelos and need a solar special sniper it works pretty good. Edit: twilight oath is solar and gets envious - precision interment
I would have liked to see Embraced Identity with Expanding Abyss and Sniper's Meditation together. Not that its going to be meta, but to give every possible damage it can get.
For anyone who just skipped to the numbers, hes not testing still hunt with apex, hes not on prismatic, hes not animation cancelling, hes just testing raw still hunt damage
Gonna depend on the nature of the damage phase. Templar is all well and good, but post-Still Hunt nerf, in a longer damage phase where you blow your whole load, would you rather have to follow up with heavy or follow up Whisper with special? I’d guess heavy.
Also when you dodge that takes time to reload still hunt but whisper you don’t have to so in a realistic damage phase whisper will be better and you can you don’t have to use celestial for it
Anyone know how this stacks with the added scorch from song of flame? Either upping the the ignitions of solar weapons or giving kinetic weapons ignitions

If you float too hig, you end up leaving the range of the damage plate, and all your shots will be immune.

High Ground also activates on the Witness funnily enough. Apparently it is considered to be "standing" way the fuck down somewhere.

It is considered in testing from Aegis; he tests as many combinations as possible so you can check out the difference with and without certain exotics

In aegis’ spreadsheet it says if you proc Darci’s perk on every hit and you reload perfectly etc it can technically out Dps whisper

I’d like to see if the weaken effect from deterministic will give the fireteam more overall damage. Like run three thunder lords then have one switch to deterministic and see which run had more damage.

Song of flame lets you ignite in two sniper shots
Song of Flame gives your Solar and Kinetic weapons scorching ammo. I'd be interested to see what numbers Supremacy does with Dawn Chorus in that combination. Pop Song of Flame, don't use the super but use Supremacy. It would easily last the duration of that damage phase too

after the upcoming celestial nerfs, the total damage shunt will do will be around 1,175,675 (based on your best run), with shunt doing around 400k dmg per hit instead of 540k
should try last foray with envious assassin - focused fury, probably not the best but if you don't have ikelos and need a solar special sniper it works pretty good.
Edit: twilight oath is solar and gets envious - precision interment
The rapid fire legendaries have the best DPS among legendaries. I think he just included Uzume for archetype comparison sake.

For anyone who just skipped to the numbers, hes not testing still hunt with apex, hes not on prismatic, hes not animation cancelling, hes just testing raw still hunt damage
Gonna depend on the nature of the damage phase. Templar is all well and good, but post-Still Hunt nerf, in a longer damage phase where you blow your whole load, would you rather have to follow up with heavy or follow up Whisper with special? I’d guess heavy.
Also when you dodge that takes time to reload still hunt but whisper you don’t have to so in a realistic damage phase whisper will be better and you can you don’t have to use celestial for it

Ignition dmg does not increase, but if you add in ashes you get an ignition in 2 shots
Cross using Ikelos sniper on solar while, he uses Cloudstrike on solar, you'll get more damage on arc sub class.
