I love Davao City, spent 3 weeks there a year ago April. Your info is very helpful. Cost of living outside city proper is much less. I plan to retire there later this year. Hope the travel restrictions will be ok by then. Thanks again
@@joyyangco3211 Garry is great for fun things to do in town and about. This vlogger gets to the nuts and bolts for researching cost of living exceptionally well.
WoW! Talk about doing a 180. Now in our retirement years, comfort and convenience is exactly what we are striving for. We must have viewed this video 5 times, each time learning a little more about Davao. Brother just moved to the Philippines. Let it suffice to say he's having his problems as his living conditions simply is not what we are looking for. And after viewing other videos explaining the cost of living in various areas, Davao looks good enough to pay a visit for a month or so. Excellent job on this video, it has really opened our eyes that were wide shut in the past.
Its good to know the cost of living in Davao, Philippines. Knowing the cost of living has skyrocketed in the US, Philippines is something to think about.
Davao is my place. That's it. I love it. The cost of living. The liveliness of it all and comfortability. You can't beat it. My two year plan is starting now
Your content helps to keep my dream of living abroad alive. I can't wait for travel to fully resume again. Thanks for the entertaining and informative videos. Keep em comin!!!
Excellent job with all the details. I was born and raised in Davao City, but currently I am living in California, USA. I am still considering retiring there someday as I find living there more relaxing. Considering you have almost all the wonderful options to go to, such as the mountains and beaches. I am always inlove with my home town. God bless you sir.
I lived in Sultan Kudarat province. Your information is so accurate and true. Davao City is one of the safest city in the Philippines. You will notice that when you go outside at night, you're safe and you won't see any trash in a street.
I've always wanted a dream 2-storey residential-spakol township in Davao. The food's cheap and delicious, and the surrounding nature does give a peace of mind.
Thanks for the informative and inspirational video! It increased my excitement to move to Davao City and explore the rest of Philippines, too. Looking forward to seeing all the sights and meeting all the wonderful people living there, including both locals and expats... thanks again!
Erik Brodnax, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I think you will like Davao. I have several other videos about Davao with neighborhood tours.
Davao is what it is because of long-term effective governance. It can be a little over the top sometimes, but you can easily see the alternative in other cities of the Philippines. The difference is discipline. I think Davao City is still the only place in the Philippines where you can call 911 in an emergency. And you won't be charged for fire, ambulance or rescue. It's totally free.
@@vonderloo3184 Yes, anyone living outside Mindanao talks about the death squads. I've been visiting Davao City since 1996, on average about once per year. I even met then-Mayor Duterte. It was perhaps my first visit, and in those days he was always accompanied by several bodyguards. Not any more of course. These days I feel as safe in Mindanao as I do in Sydney where I live. Davao was the first Filipino city to ban fireworks entirely, and smoking in public places. Streets are spotless and roads are busy but drivers follow the rules. Taxi drivers are amazing. They are reluctant to accept tips. Can't wait to get back. Maybe January. Cheers, Greg.
One other important issue is health care costs for expats. Minor ailments are OK; just go to Davao Doctors Hospital Outpatient Clinic and it won't cost much. Major ailments like heart bypass, cancer, COVID-19 and elective surgery like joint replacement can be very expensive if you're used to the sort of coverage available in Australia and Canada. If you're coming from the US and don't have health insurance there, then Davao will be much cheaper by comparison.
I have a close friendship with someone who lives and works in Davao city. This is the first time I can see it close up. It's beautiful there! I would love to know more !!

Actually davao City is 2nd of the safest city in ASEAN and fruit capital of the Philippines and one of cleanest city in the Philippines why because the citizens are scared of their Mayor. Mayor of the davao is actually president duterte and after he became president he's daughter became the Mayor
