It's pretty clear 99 is a labor of love for some people at Nintendo.
Nintendo of Europe wants a new F-Zero and was lucky to get those Satellaview things
Or at least the people at Nintendo Software Technology, whom Nintendo rarely allows to make anything.

I'm happy they're releasing the Satallaview tracks. It also seems like Dataminers have discovered that this won't be the last event for F-Zero 99.

doubt it nintendo (based on the museum and other stuff) seems to archive their old stuff pretty well so im guessing they have BS stuff up the wazoo hut just arent releasing it due to a lack of demand and needing a lot of work that wouldnt really be worth it@@enorma29

You really need Analog Triggers for the GX for precise strafing
I was at an arcade over the weekend and got to try F-Zero AX. Super cool. I wasn't expecting the seat to jolt around to match your driving. It felt so intense. I haven't played 99 yet and I'm taking all this as my sign I should.
THIS. there are so many nintendo arcade games that are super niche and totally could be ported to switch/switch2. In fact all their 80's arcade releases should have their own app on NSO.
I have played F-Zero AX too ! Man, SEGA always knocks it out of the park with their arcade racing games
My biggest hope for a Yakuza release on Nintendo has been including AX as one of the CLUB SEGA games, since Nagoshi helmed its development. I'll cross my fingers and hope Kiwami adds it.

F-Zero GP Legend is massively underrated as GBA games go
Then Climax would simply be out of the question, and yes I'd have to say, GP Legend IS a very good game, as someone who played the whole game through.

So cool to see media from Satellaview games come back. Really hope we see more of those games added to NSO - like the Zelda games that were on there.
Also very happy with the GBA drops and have fingers crossed for the 64DD version of X at some point with the track editor.
Supposedly because it was a joint venture between Nintendo and St. Giga and St. Giga is a long vanished company and no one really knows who owns its stuff Nintendo is concerned about straight-up uploading Satellaview games (so things like remaking Satellaview content into F Zero 99 is different than straight up rereleasing BS F Zero).
No idea how confident I should be in that explanation but that's the way I'd heard the story.
I'm so glad that Nintendo keep updating F-Zero 99, easily one of my favorite games on the Switch.
I was one of the people on the BS F-Zero Deluxe project, and I was over the moon seeing Ace League added last night. I obviously love the Forest and Metal Fort tracks, but those always felt like "sequel" material. Ace League felt like the completion of the original game. I can't wait to see the mirror versions!

Please if anyone has seen it recorded on to VHS the remaining dub episodes of 4kids F-Zero GP Legend English dub adaptation eps 16-26. Please archieve them. They are lost media and may have only aired in New Zealand! Or for Nintendo to stream it on TH-cam themselves

4Kids dubbed it?? I thought it was Japanese exclusive. Although this isn’t the only case of an English dub only airing in New Zealand that I know of.

That would be sooooo cool! We've been waiting forever for a new game and FZ99 was a great rebirth for the series that's so much more fun than I could have ever imagined in the beginning. Now rereleasing all old games, a GX HD port is the only thing missing now. And a brand new game...man, it just HAS to happen one day!
Climax being released (assumedly without translation, a la Super Puyo Tsu) is wonderful to see! Even if the SNES-style F-Zeros have never been my favorite, I appreciate them for being ways to carry on the franchise.
I'm still, somehow, holding hope we get either a GX remaster or a new title. Either one would be wonderful to see.
It isn't snes styled, it's based off of x. The only thing it borrows from snes are the flat tracks
Climax on NSO will be the first time people outside Japan can mess around with the track creator

as a new-ish F-Zero fan (i got really into the series around 99's launch) i am really excited
So this announcement got me playing FZero 99 again after a few months off and man, i fell in love all over again
This is gonna sound weird but I really really hope we have done enough as consumers to show Nintendo that F-Zero does have a place on the market, and that we're beyond ready for a brand new, BIG F-Zero game. I love F-Zero 99, but we've been waiting for so long.
Honestly I'm just worried that even if we do get a new F-Zero, it'll be the kind of deal where they remove all the pilots except the SNES ones and you only have a create-a-pilot to work with
That's probably heavy doomerism but I really love the characters in F-Zero and I _really_ don't want the takeaway from 99 to be "people are okay with no pilots"
A next gen 3D F-Zero for the Switch 2 would be absolutely incredible but I won't get my hopes up

It's insane how Nintendo finally acknowledged Satallaview after years of ignoring it and treating it like it didn't exist.
Setallaview tracks in F-Zero 99 and F-Zero Climax finally released outside of Japan. We F-Zero fans are eating good.
I had a BS-X in my childhood so this will be insanity nostalgic.
With Ace League including Sand Storm and the sequels thats means when we get an Ace League 2 it will only be Forest and Metal Fort

my fantasy is F-Zero GX being rereleased on the Switch 2.0 and getting the Mario Kart 8 DLC treatment. Or a track editor with online sharing. F-Zero GX is such a perfect game that all I want from it is more of it to play. This is one tiny step closer to that fantasy...
X is better than GX, GXs soundtrack blows. Everything else is good tho. X is absolutely goated.

The biggest jumpscare would be getting GX ported to the Switch with the special AX pieces in the game with some degree of online multi-player functions (Or directly 8-player compatibility in local play)

Maybe other people have already said it, but it would be even cooler if the content from Maximum Velocity could somehow be included in F-Zero 99.

Also, I am a HUGE F-ZERO nerd and I'm looking forward to what this could potentially mean for the future of the series. I'm still holding out for a true next gen F-ZERO experience in addition to a remaster of GX

Really love the love Nintendo is giving to F-Zero with the updates for F-Zero 99 and the fact that we are getting F-Zero GP Legend and Climax as well. Hopefully we can see a new F-Zero title in the future on Switch 2. Ideally, something that has the vibe and excellent course design of F-Zero GX.
I'm happy to see more content being added to the game. I loved F-zero when I first got to play it way back when. I'd love to think how this brings in so many people that maybe one day, Nintendo will make a new F-Zero. We could only have like 10 racers so help with the like 50 GX had, at least give us new tracks!

Love GP Legend, very excited to see that one back again, and while I like Climax less than GP Legend, I'm FLOORED that both of them are here. I figured it would need too much licensing.
Holding out for GX. I LOVE that game and would adore a chance to own a physical copy of it.
To explain a bit more on why fire stingray got buffed.
1.4 stingray struggled to get off the line during the beginning of a race with its slow acceleration, and with fuller lobbies, struggled to get up in front due bumping around.

Man, this is the kinda stuff I predicted coming eventually back when the game was new but slowly lost hope and stopped playing, but here it all is and SO MUCH MORE all at once, on top of the previous big update I still haven't played, AND a big event... I'm coming back, baby. LOVE FZ99. And seeing the support for the series coming to switch online with not only e-reader exclusive stuff but a whole japan-exclusive game, really has me feeling some kinda way I haven't felt in a long long time about Nintendo actually... *caring* about this beloved franchise again. Please, please please please try making a new one just oooone more time...

In the last few years we got a new F Zero, a new Virtua Fighter, and even a new Fatal Fury. I hope that other franchises that haven't gotten installments in years like Bonk or Road Rash get a new game.

An F-Zero GX remaster similar to Metroid Prime is what's needed. When people emulate the game on modern hardware it still looks amazing, and already had widescreen.
I just hope F-Zero 99 does get a permanent offline update when they decide it's time to call it a day. Local multiplayer and CPU's for the rest of the racers. Would be simple to add once they feel they have done all they can with it.

I loved gp legend when I was a kid. Beat all of story mode and unlocked all the machines. I was recently able to play climax from a japanese copy I was able to find. I prefer the UI from gp legend but gameplay wise climax really was a “climax”. It’s awesome that people are finally gonna get to play these games. GX is the only game now missing from the switch library. I can only hope this means we’re getting a remaster/port with online or a new game.

8:48 um, actually, the F-Zero anime is from 2003, while the the first time we ever saw a Falcon Punch was on Super Smash Bros for the N64 in 1999 ☝️🤓
I recall last year when I re-upped my NSO expansion that there were two GBA games that, if they became available to play in said expansion tier, I would re-up my subscription when it expires this year in November.
Although the first one is a license game that will likely never wind up here (Astroboy: Omega Factor), F-Zero Climax was the other game. Looks like I'll be re-upping my subscription when it expires next month. Kudos Nintendo.
by the way, we have 2 live services games being updated like this for 20 per year. meanwhile, all other live service games cost 10 for 1 skin...
Every time there's a content drop on FZ99 the active player base skyrockets again. It's actually quite simple how to keep the game alive, just support it!

F-Zero is slowly making a comeback. Now all we need is a GX remaster on the Switch (or it's successor) and hopefully a new game down the road.

I’m over the moon that we got so much F-Zero news & content randomly shadow dropped last night! The only F-Zero game we’re kissing on switch is GX which will maybe get a remake so we can play the whole franchise on switch (and/or switch 2)
Im gonna keep believing that this is to raise/gage interest before the imminent reveal of GX remake/extreme/99 for switch 2.

What if Nintendo makes a contract with RGG(like a dragon) studios to remaster/make F-zero GX for the switch 2.
If they could they would have with Monkey Ball as well. But instead they had to remake it from the ground up with a new physics engine (and the one they use isn't as good for physics unfortunately). So they could "remake" it but they couldn't remaster it, and since the physics of GX are it's most important aspect, that wouldn't really work out well. Might as well make it a new game at that point.
This is all very cool but I'm still waiting patiently for a F-Zero GX remastered.
Even though it's breadcrumbs, it's nice that Nintendo at least acknowledges F-Zero again! It's nice that Climax will finally be available outside of Japan. GX would be the final game that hasn't had a re-release yet, so hopefully that happens. Maybe. If Samus Returns and Metroid Dread could happen to help revitalize the Metroid franchise, then I want to believe there is at least a SLIGHT possibility that we could get a new F-Zero game or even just a GX remaster.

Switch 2 or Bust for FZERO. Hopefully it will have the style of GX with the innovation of 99. If we can get modern interpretation of the classic designs in HD with working online to facilitate the graphics, this might be the answer to Nintendo’s concerns about Mario Kart cannibalizing the racing genre as an alternative. With that, Metroid 4 Prime Beyond, the last on my list for Nintendo to completely become godlike is bringing back Star Fox. (Yes, there are others, but this is the space themed games that need to stand along Mario and Link)
As someone who's played F-Zero Climax tirelessly, I'd highly recommend any hardcore F-Zero fans to check it out. Trust me, you won't be disappointed - It's nothing like GP Legend, GP Legend is sluggish compared to Climax.
