All I can say is a lot of people are talking/trying to describe these speakers but the reality is, you absolutely can't even imagine what it sounds like until you've heard them.
And completely new level of perception after some time spent working on them. Kii Three forced me to become much better in what I'm aiming for in music production. Real benchmark in every sense.
@@sonolumina yes you really need to work on them few hours before your brain really understand what's going on with this ultra fast response time and all the details.
An interesting speaker, which I have heard, and your idea of nothing in front makes a lot of sense. However, as you have a studio I can't understand why you don't show measurements of the difference with and without the BXTs and with and without the console in front pf the speakers.
What distance do you have between them? and what distance from twitter to your ear? Where is the tip of the triangle? How do you set them up? You can describe pls?
It’s about 1.5m from each other at the tweeter and I’m a bit closer like 1.2m at my head. They’re angled a little bit inwards. But this is only for my room, and that’s the best for me personally! It will depend on each room obviously and how wide you might want to hear something! 🙌
@@Dav7Music nope! Can’t stand them for my room personally! And the amount of suggested boost and cuts to make it flat, was a couple of db or more, and it was sounding a bit funky to me.. and also turn off all the room control contour settings for boundary walls. Not keen on them either! But again, just for my room
For doing what I do in working, I can personally get better result with the kiis. But for listening to music in a wider sweet spot, like a cinema or for tracking music.. it’s hard to go wrong with the Atc monitors mate. But at this level, there’s definitely a big part being “personal taste”
Two completely different worlds. Kii's response time is wayyyy faster with 0 distortion. Plus you have this on the entire frequency band. ATC are cool and pleasant to ear. Kii give you the reality
I tracked a record on ATCs at redbull studio Berlin (130k ATC rig with dual subs). I also did the premixes there. Once I got home I had to remix everything on the Kiis and we even retracked the vocals at mine.
@ hey man, yeah it’s tricky because when I was initially doing the monitor tests in my own studio, I found that I was getting better mixes with just the kii3 not the bxt as well.. because they bring out a bunch more detail in the top end, so detail starts to maybe feel too sharp and therefore you might want to tame it, but I kept getting masters back brighter / like I was initially hearing on the bxt before. So it took me a while to “learn” how to mix better on the bxt, but now I’m getting better mixes with the pair of them together + a Trinnov system (because my room is very square) but I was getting way better mixes than previously with just the kii3 and no room correction other than acoustic stuff, and that was a quicker improvement for me personally! If you’re looking at purely listening to audio, Id say the separation the bxt adds, just clears up that extra mist & feels more like headphones. Because of the layering you get thrown at you.. in a perfect room they’d be even better. Where are you based out of interest?
@@lapwingstudio Appreciate you breaking it down for me! Super, super helpful- thank you. I'm in California! The non-BXT Three's sound great in all the showrooms around town I've listened to them in, but I'm coming from a Barefoot MicroStack 45, which goes super deep and stays tight. Great speakers, but looking for something else for mastering work. Cheers man!
@ i think the barefoots generally (at least the 27 and 26 models) show real low end extension and feel great, but I’ve always been rubbish at mixing on them haha! The kiis are super fast and tight if that means anything at all! But yeah good luck with your search man and if you can just blag your local place to borrow the kii3 and get them in your room! See how you find them in there 👌
I love anything audio, home, studio, pa, in car, iv been wasting hundreds of thousands of pounds on speakers in all forms for 30 odd years, believe me the last 10-20% is where all your money goes. In the never ending path for sonic bliss! All I’ll say is it’s all relative to a previous benchmark, stop listening to more before you completely run out of money 😂 A pleasurable journey though for sure ❤
Hahah! I totally hear you! That still sounds great though.. other than the finances of course! I’m glad it’s always improving (sort of!) and thanks so much for the comment and experience 👍
I have KEF r11's and share a very similar mindset because the speakers are so tall. A console being up 36 to 40 inches is creating phase and group delay issues. My desk is at 26 inches and far away from the speakers. This is kind of like a mastering setup I suppose, but the alternative is to put NS-10's on a meter bridge or way up high and learn how to work with BAD sound. no thanks.

Sure, I hear that! It’s a tough sell on TH-cam, but they’ve definitely been underrepresented in the music mixing world for sure 😅👌

@@sonolumina nice!! Glad to hear it 🙌🔥 smashing it!

This was helpful thank you. Deciding between these some kefs and buchardts (different pricepoints i agree) for the living room

Do you use their filters?

How do you compare Kii's with ATC's? what would you choose between these 2?

hey man, what color are these? fine touch dark grey or graphite satin metallic?
Graphite satin these ones! It’s a slightly darker bluey black vs the fine touch grey! But yeah I had to double check this 😅
@ thank you brother! much appreciated. would you suggest going for the Three’s to start or waiting until I can go for the full BXT rig?

Compare with atc scm 50 bro. Plis
Ive worked on both ATC SCM 300s, 150 and 50s, 25as. Id take my kii threes (in a non purpose built room mind you) over any of them.

I'm sure those Kiis sound really special. How many limbs would I have to sell, to get a pair, please? 😃
I’ve seen them listed for anything from 20-30k in pounds GBP, second hand obviously less. And if you’re claiming the vat back.. a lot less 🙌
