    I have long experience on Pipers. I also worked for Lycoming Engines. What I did not like is the props were in feather when stopped. Starting procedure as done in the video may flood the cylinders with too much fuel. I would advance the throttle and mixture, turn the pump on for 4 or 5 seconds then shut it off, pull the throttle back to just above idle and mixture back to cut off, then crank. As soon as it fires, advance the mixture and adjust throttle to a smooth idle. Note, in colder weather, more priming is required. On a hot day with a heat soaked engine, no fuel priming at all. Just open throttle wide with mixture closed, crank until firing begins, pull throttle back quickly and advance mixture just as quickly. Fuel will boil in the lines after shut down on a warm day. It only goes one way, into the cylinder intake . So you will already have a rich enough mixture for starting.

    That night landing was spectacular.
    Just one tip though. The red line on the ASI is the Vmc speed marker, which means if you lose an engine below that speed, the aircraft will not be controllable. More specifically, the plane will roll over on you and there's no recovering. If you let it go too far into a Vmc roll, you are just screwed but if you catch it early by pulling power to the remaining good engine, you can stop it. In a Twin Comanche, keep it about 100mph on the final and then slow it down once you've got the threshold made.
    Basically, at no point do you want to be below 90mph unless you've got the runway made with no power. Even on takeoff, the procedure is to not start to climb after rotation until you've passed 90mph (which only takes a split second to reach after Vr). That's true for any twin, although the speeds for Vmc in different airframes of course vary.

      Q8Pilot Hello Q8, Im a new subscriber and i love to see your videos. Also i would like to ask you what do you think about vFlyteAir. I am looking for a high end quality GA aircraft. Should I take a look on the flyteair store, or maybe the airfoil labs 172? I'm VERY NEW on x plane and i don't know where to start. (Id like something like a2a)
      Thank you!!

    I guess the modelling is the way it is because this is the replica of an actual *old* aircraft. vFlyteAir are arguably my top three developers for GA aircraft and I'm very happy the modeled the Commanche.
    I'd have to say that vFlyteAir airplanes are similar to my REP planes ... Carenado on it's own tends to disappoint me (though I've got to say that the C208 is superb).

    Hi q8, about the sounds, laminar research's new FMOD would hopefully mean that the community would make more FMODS for our aircrafts. For example the new 737 sounds by audio bird sound absolutely fantastic and are completely free. And I agree with you that for a lot of GA, sounds aren't the best however since now we have fmod developers have no excuse.

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly right, hopefully we can expect higher fidelity sounds in the near future, and hopefully developers will put FMOD to good use.

    Yes on the B1900, What I am really hoping to see are the Carenado C210 and B58 versions for X-plane 11, and your reviews of them when they come out if they do come out.

    Nice vid. I don't like the aircraft nearly as much as the B58. All of those different trucks driving around, are they part of this airport, or an addon you use? I'm also curious if you are using stock XP11 lighting? Thanks.

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure about the trucks, but I suppose they are part of the KSNA scenery. The lighting is tweaked.

    Fairly new to X Plane 11 coming from FS9 and your channel has certainly helped me settle in so thanks a lot for that, your efforts are much appreciated.
    Also, as you mentioned it in the video, let me know if you wanted a short B1900 review, can I say yes to that please. (or at least answer a quick question) I’ve been hearing the ground handling during takeoff and landing is fairly terrible although I’m yet to work out if it’s the aircraft that’s worse than normal or just the standard overly slippery feel that X Plane has anyway. That’s the main issue why I haven’t purchased the B1900 yet as I’m trying to work out which it is.

    Does anyone know if this plane has been updated since July 2017 ? I'm looking for a light twin and the PA30 seems perfect but I'm just not convinced it's as good as their Cherokee 140 Glass Cockpit which I got recently.

    rotating beacon, indicates that the engines are running. So it should be after engine start.

    • @Q8Pilot

      In most aircraft checklist, the rotating beacon is turned on right before engine start.

    Nice and fair review. I have the plane and its fantastic. I dont care, if some of the curves are not exactly round. Saves a lot of polys wich nobody ever sees. I think this model is a perfect example of look vs performance. However, I agree with the click-sounds. Its V1.1 with ADF now and it will improve. Good reviews in general. Keep them coming...

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Marcel! Yes as I have indicated, the glitches in the textures do not take anything from the plane. Still a great aircraft. I just try to show the good, bad and ugly so to speak =) Thanks again!

    Hi there Q8 - Thanks for the tons of great videos and tutorials. I have put

    aircraft. They make some cool ones - the DC-3 is coming soon.

  • @flightsaitek4087
    @flightsaitek4087 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here is the issue with PBR, PBR is still heavily dependent on the artist. I could have the same material in the same programs as you but change two sliders and make it look 10 times better or times worse. Not only that but in the software there might be different options for metalness exports. The true native issue is if an artist is not using real world references then what they will put out will be off. The B1900 looks off when I compared it to real images of a 1900. Since I do not own the twin Comanche, I can not talk about the PBR. Some although might look nice and shiny, the real paint used on the plane might not be coated in 12 layers of clear float and polished with 12,000 micromesh to a mirror finish. Food for thought, nice review.

      Thank you my friend, and your instructor is correct!

    • @thomasdudziak9849
      @thomasdudziak9849 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok ! Actually, I wasn't sure because I saw you doing this at 100 ft AGL and secondly, the aircraft I fly doesn't have a retractable gear. By the way, your simulator is beautiful !

    • @bonchie1
      @bonchie1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My plane isn't a retract, but I don't know any retract owner who waits until 300agl to put the gear up. Positive rate and it's coming up with everyone I know because the climb rate and performance suffer if you leave the gear hanging out. This is especially important on shorter fields with obstacles.
      The only time I've heard to leave the gear down for a more extended period is if you have a really long runway in front of you.

  • @michelonoff1235
    @michelonoff1235 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seems that nobody noticed that the turn coordinator, which is of great importance for IFR patterns, does not work at all! OK, the ball moves but the aircraft profile does not.
    Anyway, thanks for the review.

    Good video Osamah. Not ADF in the main panel, so this aircraft is not certified for France/Europe, that keeps ADF in the IR program.
    PS: you do not trust VASI?
    Remember:
    Red over White, you're alright. (on glidepath)
    Red over Red, you're dead. (too low)
    White over White, you're out-of-sight (too high)

    q8 I think the PBR is perfect on this aircraft its an old aircraft not all aircraft are super shiney and I hope devs take note of that. I'm disappinted to see deva just adding PBR and calling it a day. the texture on the engine are supposed to be wavy if you look close that is wear on the paint. the molding inside is wavy just like an OLD aircraft.....I think you were not taking the OLD aircraft aspect into account here.....other than that love the channel :)

    I love your videos but it's unfair to focus on a 1 to 1 replication of a real world aircraft when you're talking about the 3d modelling in a flight simulator, where performance is key.
    VFlyteAir models are some of the only 'built for XP11' payware models available at the moment. They are incredibly well optimised and perform very well.
    I am sure 98% of us do not mind that the wing moulding is not a perfect round shape but are happy that the plane flies fantastically well. Fly from the cockpit and you'll never see it.
    I appreciate that you are trying to make an unbiased 'nuts and bolts' review but sometimes you seem rather biased to Carenado, who haven't yet released a 'made for XP11' model, only upgrades.
    In a flight simulator, it is incredibly important to achieve a balance between reality, immersion and performance and, in my opinion, vFlyteAir come incredibly close.
    This piece of payware isn't perfect but it's a fantastic first release, already patched in the first few days to fix some minor gripes, like the missing taxi light, which only wasn't there as it wasn't on the reference airplane that was used to create this model from. It had maybe been broken and never fixed, so vFlyteAir didn't include it either. They have since added one due to community 'feedback'.
    VFlyteAir have already commented on the sounds, that they will be improved, which is commendable as they are already very good, those stereo engines are beautiful.
    Note that this is their first release that uses FMOD, so see it as a starting point which can only be improved on.
    It's a shame that you didn't talk about the tiptanks or the autopilot, which is quite different to what we normally see in GA in flight simulation.
    At least 8/10 and one of the best XP11 default pieces of payware available today.

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts, but it looks like you didn't watch the full video, and perhaps you are also new to the channel. First, welcome to the channel =). Second I do talk about the Tip Tanks and point out how much work has been put forth writing the custom code for that.
      Also, if you check out the channel, and watch my videos, you will immediately conclude that I am not a big fan of Carenado aircraft. The only reference I made here was to the visual element and implementation of PBR.
      The final score is something I reach after carefully studying all the elements that make up the payware addon relative to other addons in the same price range, and quality of production. Your score of 8 is fine for you, but in my standards, the aircraft still needs a little more to reach that score.
      Once again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with the community.
      Blue Skies!
