These guys have matured a ton as a band. New drummer is killing it, too. You nailed it when you said this felt more"approachable" as it is probably the one song on the album that tries to make that bridge. Check out the song "Into Embers", more thrashy, more vocal variety. It's an amazing tune.
I've been trying to get you to go over their single "Into Embers" for like a month or so. If you want more vocal diversity, go check out that one 🔥. Definitely in my opinion, a contender of the year.
Haha. So I am KefTheBeerMan that recommended this one. Here's my reasoning why I recommended this over the other two songs: 1. This track has a lot more technicality to dig into on multiple listens. The melodies and parts between the guitars and bass are exceptional on this track. The drumming is stellar as well. 2. The main riff that comes in after that kind of prog-y intro catches you a little off guard and just smacks you in the face, and it's hard to get away from the song at that point. It's like watching a train wreck happen, you're totally appalled but you can't help but watch. 3. Vocally, I felt this the safer choice to suggest because I knew he hadn't heard anything from the album yet from his lack of reactions to Into Embers and Of Beasts and Worms. Those can be a shock since their older music generally did not use cleans, or even that amount of melodic moments. 4. Lastly, this opened the door for him to do a reaction to either of those other songs if he wants to. Being totally honest, I didn't want to scare him away from the rest of the album, because it is literally *that good* start to finish. It's my album of the year, so far, and it's going to take something fucking spectacular to dethrone it. Cheers!
