Well I am in the states so the bmw is out they don’t sell the M1 here :/ is still take the golf R the price is right for what you get the Audi is just to damn much
Lovecars tiff glad you are making more videos missed you been watching fifth gear over here in the states since I was young always had to find ways to watch it
I love the 5 pot layout, they are special. I own a Volkswagen Jetta 2.5, and will definitely want to upgrade to an Audi RS3 for that sweet sweet engine sound that only an inline 5 can produce.
We wanted the S3 and Golf R hatchback. Sadly we're currently perceived as being a very small channel and get very little manufacturer support, so we sometimes need to fit a square peg into a round hole. Thanks for the feedback and comments 👍
I am sure if Tiff walks into a dealership they would give him any car he wanted. You guys needs to make more videos at a faster rate and the channel will explode. Your current upload rate is shocking. There are single youtubers working alone with nowhere near the talent putting vids out at a much higher rate. Which is a shame.
M140i, sold! Fun wins out every time! Need to get on that rwd & straight 6 before it goes boring 2l 4x4 in the new model! 53k for a hot hatch is just laughable. Great Vid, can’t wait for pt.2!!
You see people say that.....but then people spend billions of $ a year trying to make their cars go faster and sound better. On a race track the m140 is probably more fun....... But the rs3 is just so much faster all of the time, doubly so in day to day life. Straight line speed and traction matters more to people than they might be willing to admit. There is a reason the dct m2 outsells the manual 5 to 1, its far faster and much better. Many people can only have one car, and if you need to actually live with it, the rs3 is the easy choice. Had the M135i a couple of years ago, was great. But they don't come with an LSD! It's annoying, but you can activate the electronic fake LSD which controls slip via the rear brakes. I found it was pretty hit and miss. When it worked it was amazing but if it didn't then it was like an old skool RS turbo front dif. The rear end jumping about all over. Here in Australia the LSD was a $5k extra. I loved the ZF 8 speed box in the BMW. It's the same gearbox that my boss' Aston Martin has. Lightning quick shifts and no clutches to worry about either. I have a new Audi A3 right now and gearbox had warranty repair on it after 10 months from new. Apparently Audi used the wrong friction material (resulted in chirping noises on gear changes). But if torque converter gearboxes can shift that quick, like the ZF in the BMW then dual clutch gearboxes are really not needed! The new Golf R apparently has wet clutches which is somewhat better I suppose.
To shame the Golf R’s interior is foolish. The Golf R is WAY nicer than its competitors (WRX STI, Focus RS, Veloster N, etc) obviously it’s not going to be nicer than the BMW or the Audi, but come on. Great sound system, nice leather, very classy. Not everyone wants red suede and and cheap items to make the car seem sportier. The Golf is done right.
I agree, when they compare the R to the other cars, its not even the same class. But I'm under 30 and really love the R, I'd take the Beemer if it was available in Canada :S Also I can't believe they talked down to the digital cockpit in the VW, like whaat?! you can change it up how you want, not just "Big numbers!"
Sorry, its took 5 year to respond but, i can only now maybe afford a used M140i. But the Golf R is a propa nice motor and I'm still not 100%on what I want. Getting a Stage 1+ added for less than $1,000 CAD and I will be performing at RS3 levels. That is the reason I went with the R ( AWD in the Canadian winters also was a factor). If I had the money though, the RS3 would be in the driveway as the I5 turbo is glorious...
I think a lot of people are missing the idea of a hot hatch looking at these comments, the Golf is outclassed here, the Audi is typical Audi ridiculously overpriced( in fact by the time you spec it to perform like this one you are pushing BMW M4 money🤔), the M140 isn’t even in the same class as that Audi and yet when it comes to track driving it will likely be quicker, it’s also rear drive and unbelievably fun to drive, really why would you pick anything other than the Beemer, it’s the definition of hot hatch, reasonably priced, reasonably practical (if you worry about that sort of thing) and above all hugely quick and incredibly fun!
Arent hot hatches suppose practical to use AND practical on the wallet as well? Does the Golf R get no points for being a good few grand cheaper than the BMW?
Nice comment. Thank you. You’re right but sadly with our channel is very hard at the moment to compare exactly like for like and we need to just accept any car we can get.
Lovecars this was very enjoyable to watch the guys were good and it was all done in a very honest, fun and informative way, so keep up the good work, I will definitely be subscribing 🍻
onkouth It's also a bit rubbish in the wet and goes to pieces slightly on lumpy British roads at anything approaching high speed :/ But it's great value for money.
I think the R Estate in that guise is gorgeous. Performance wise, the BMW is better and the Audi is streets ahead. But with the Audi being almost £20k more, what would you expect? Good video though! P.s It’s always raining in God’s country!
I've watched this to help me decide which of these cars to go buy, I've always leaned towards the M140i and think this will be my choice. I also love how this was filmed two minutes from where I'm from, the road from Ebbw Vale to Llangynidr is an epic road to drive, not so much in the wet or even worse in the snow, I wouldn't recommended that.......
Hi Jamie - thanks for watching and for the message. Lovely part of the world you live in! Given the weather you get there I think the AWD option is good... but you can't beat the M140i for fun!!!!
Subscribed although I am still confused why an entry level Golf R (estate too) with no extras against a RS3 with all the extras ? Bit unfair ... surely a Golf R with the performance pack (hatchback) is a fairer test ? 🤔
We couldn't get hold of a standard Golf R and essentiality use whatever we get from the relevant manufacturers to the best of our ability. Ideally should have been S3 too. Thanks for subscribing and for the comments
I've had my Golf R Estate Wolfsburg for about 3 weeks now. Best car I've had hands down. Sh!ts all over the ton of falcons, commodores, statesmans and hsv's I've had.
Greetings from Canada!. I wish the M140i was available in my country because there are nice specs and upgrades you guys can do in the UK to this car. RS3 is way too expensive here and the one you showcased is loaded. My solution: I bought a Golf R 2018 mK7.5 and got an APR stage 1 ECU and TCU upgrade with high torque. RESULT: 370 hp and 383 ft-lbs of torque. less expensive and now it is a rocket! That is plenty for a small car and lots of fun! Cheers!
Greetings from the UK! One of our cameraman is from Canada (kind of - it's a long story!). Thanks for the nice words and the perfect sounding solution! (BTW Part 2 is going to be epic!)
Estate R doesn’t do it justice at all, back end of a Passat is so ugly compared to proper hatch. Also look at the price of the RS3. The Golf R is probably more a competitor for the S3. BMW and AUDI are now premium brands. The Golf R is not necessarily the fastest but it’s an incredible car. And you don’t get as much hassle from boyracers and you can turn up to work without looking like a poser because the untrained eye just sees golf. Got to live with one to fully appreciate. I smile every time I open the garage and get in. Love it.
We wanted the S3 and Golf R hatchback. Sadly we're currently perceived as being a very small channel and get very little manufacturer support, so we sometimes need to fit a square peg into a round hole. Thanks for the feedback and comments 👍
RS3 is the best car but at that price it has to compete with the M2. The RS3 is a rocket ship for the road, is more practical and an all around better road car while the M2 would be slightly more fun if you were a skilled enough to drive it proper fast and would be a lot more focused on track. Me being not a overall skilled driver I'd have the RS3 as it would make me feel like i'm amazing even though it's the car doing all the work.
Yes slightly wrong cars. Ideally should have been S3. We’re only a small channel so can’t call many shots in with borrowing cars yet. And same as Paul and a few of us with RS3 choice
exactly!!! - the poorest form of the R they could've taken out! (longer wheelbase and at least 80kg heavier!!) that's a lot of extra weight in the corners!!.. the RS3 completely in a different league and should only really be compared with the A45 - a better comparison would have been: Golf R hatchback DSG, M140i hatchback Auto and Audi S3 Stronic..... this is just another pointless video trying to compare apples and oranges!!
All great cars. But I would be expecting a good few of those Audi options as standard on an RS spec car. 10k more, come on!!!!!! Sometimes feel Audi, etc just rip the arse out of it.
Yes for sure; but at least you got to drive my dream hatch the RS3. Sadly this beauty of a machine is not available in the US. DSG Golf R with a stage 1 can keep up with the RS3, but still that inline 5 cylinder has a beautiful sound. Love your channel keep up the good work guys!
After recently watching random vlogs here, seeing Tiff regularly on them, suddenly reminded me of the ol 5th Gear,in a very good way! As i always had a thing for sports, hyper cars, with the Countach posters and what not,and being able to watch people share their thoughts about it on tv was just what i needed, but then when Tiff left,it wasn't the same,as it lacked that bond, specially with Vicky as well... so i then went onto TopGear, and the rest was history!
This is the only honest review about the Golf MK 7!! I bought a brand new GTI Clubsport last July after driving an MK6 GTI for 6 years which was fantastic. My God was I disappointed with the built quality of the Clubsport! Road noise, wind noise, cheap interior materials, bits falling off and suspension ratlling and squeaking!! From a brand new VW! They have clearly cut corners to save costs!! Sold it and bought a BMW 140i...can't be happier :) the RS3 is nice but far too expensive!
All 3 are "Gran Turismo" GT Hot Hatches, no track tools. So among the Gran Turismos I take the RS3. 1. "Brute Force" 2. five cylinder and 3. AWD winter capable
The audi would make absolute mince meat of the others. Its in a different league. Legendary 2.5L straight 5, Quattro, agressive styling. Its honestly better in every way.
Houssam Alucad You say 'more fun'. What do you mean by that? You wouldnt be saying that if you were in a hedge backwards. I agree they are for different buyers, but the audi is, by far the better all round car.
The RS3 is a front wheel drive biased understeering unbalanced car. Engine is incorrectly positioned too far in front of the shocl towers further promoting understeer. The Bmw has the Superior chassis and it's engine is on par w/ the 2.5l. So...
Eddy Kenton they literally said it in the video that while the 4 wheel traction of the Audi is better but the skids you can pull off in the Beemer are so much fun! You seem to be in the targeted market of the RS, I seem to be in the one for the BMW.
rodgazinya How does the BMW have a superior chassis? You would only understeer if you are going absolutely mental trying to break lap records... But NONE of these cars are even capable of that.. Especially no the BMW.. So your point is invalid.
considering the m140i isn't available here in the states, i chose the RS3, though i seriously considered the M2. it's styling is definitely more eye catching than the Audi's, but when i drove the M2 I missed the raw power of the RS3, and its quatro AWD.
Yikes absolutely murdered the Golf R. First of all it's completely unfair comparison. Not only is the R estate heavier, but it's quite a bit longer than the hatch version. It's silly to have it in a hatch competition as it's not a hatch. Also a lot of these comparisons focus on performance only. The reason people love hatches is not for pure performance alone, it's for overall versatility. I'm in the USA, and we get a fair bit of snow. I love the M140 (albeit they don't offer it here), but it stands no chance in inclement weather. The R with snow tires is an absolute beast when the weather doesn't cooperate. Lastly the EA888 engine in the MK7 is extremely easily tunable. Stage 1 for about $500 nets you 50-70whp/wtq. And I'll completely agree on the throttle response being absolutely garbage on the stock DSG tune. A pedalbox w/DSG tune completely transforms this car. Ultimately the R sells like hotcakes worldwide not because it's the best performance hatch. It's the best OVERALL hatch, for a very reasonable price.
We wanted the S3 and Golf R hatchback. Sadly we're currently perceived as being a very small channel and get very little manufacturer support, so we sometimes need to fit a square peg into a round hole. Thanks for the feedback and comments 👍
Very unfair on Golf, I have R3door, on service they gave me R Estate...that 80kilos really blunts the performance and handling...they should drive hatch again
Lovecars he could see straight passed the bling and trinkets of the RS3 and the all wheel drive systems favoured by the paddle shifters and favoured the Ultimate Driving machine 😎... BMW
I have a 2-series coupe and I've never liked the 1-series. I just think it looks a bit crap looking at it head on at the front. All their other cars look great though, especially the coupes. The seats in the BMW are great too. They don't look flashy or anything but they really hug your sides.
A bit one sided, the rs3 is a great car but is in a different league powerwise, but what would you expect with the huge price difference which has to be taken into account. These chumps are just given these cars to test, pass judgement on the performance, but if they had to put their own money down they might not be so keen on what they chose for best performance and practicality for the money. When you consider the acceleration numbers between these cars are within half a second of each other, big deal! In the end £10,000 difference is a hell of a lot of cash for half a second of show boating.
masmainster RS3 is over a second quicker. Real world tests are nearer 3.6 to 60 mph and 8.2 to 100 mph, 11.8 secs to quarter mile, top speed 181mph. Someone had a stage 1 RS3 480bhp do 195mph...bonkers
Love good old Tiff. Just wish Nikki joins the Lovecars crew. Great channel guys. I would have the M140i all the way. Has the most character, is available in a manual 6 speed the one I will have and rear wheel drive and it is easily tuneable. Also a bonus 45 MPG!!!!
BMW M140i will be the one that will be remembered in years to come - straight 6 and RWD, others instantly forgettable. And the Audi is a ludicrous 55 grand!
The comparison should be between Audi RS3, Merc AMG A45 and BMW M2 for hyper hatches! Or if you wanted hot hatches then Golf R, Focus RS and Audi S3, that would make more sense. Good fun though and Tiff is just the best!!!
We wanted the S3 and Golf R hatchback. Sadly we're currently perceived as being a very small channel and get very little manufacturer support, so we sometimes need to fit a square peg into a round hole. Thanks for the feedback and comments 👍
First i want to say good video, fun to see. But the it was 2 times 4 wheel vs 1 times rear wheel under rain. No doubt 4 wheel is better there. I stand before the problem for a half year, what i will buy.BMW 240i , Audi RS3 , Mercedes 45 AMG, Golf R or Focus RS. I drove all of this cars for 1 day and they are all great cars, no doubt. The RS3 has the most power. The A45 the best launch control. The Focus is the good allrounder. The Golf R was a Golf only, but good car too. At the end i bought the BMW 240i Coupe facelift, because the power to the RS3 is mini mini smaller, especially from 100 to 200 (no difference with the rear wheel. i make no traffic light starts, there the 4 wheel better of course, but not interrested at that). The sound is not so overdrived like in the other cars, especially in the A45 i missed the fire spits xDDD (ironie). The handling is the best with 50/50 weight, because i bought the F22 (the Coupe). The power comes very linear in all gears and dont live from the turbo punch only, thats the advantage of the biggest engine. So u can overhauling on the highway in high gears without punching the turbo. And in my opinion its the most beautiful car from interieur and exterieur. hope i can help someone with my statement. And dont forget its my OPINION.Best regards all.
I've got the R Mk7.5 Estate. I guess though it rather depends what you want from the car. I came from an e61535d estate (brilliant but heavy) and needed an estate for practicality. So the R Estate made a lot of sense as there isn't a whole lot out there that compares. Maybe a 340xi or a S4. As a hatch I can understand why the 140 is better, as well as the RS3. I know that no S3 was available, but many say the R is the better car to drive. But in real life, this test and (esp) part 2 aren't really applicable. Most people who buy these cars don't care what they are like on a track. The racing around twisty A and B roads is more pertinent, but lets face it, we spend most of our time trundling along in traffic. There seem to be 2 "criticisms" of the R, both easily rectified. One was to do with the slowness of the throttle to react. This can be sorted with a PedalBox. The other was the lack of about 40bhp. A Stage 1 remap, while not ideal with warranty and leases, will up things to about 375bhp. But to be honest, I am happy enough with 310bhp.
We have to make do with whatever cars we can get our hands on. We were due a hatchback Golf R but due to circumstances unknown, ended up with an estate (or nothing)
I like the looks of the RS3, but in I'd take the BMW. It's the last BMW 1 series built with a six cylinder engine and rear wheel drive. There is just no sportier Hatchback. The Golf R is nice too, but personally I don't like the exterieur. To me it's just a bit boring.
Two awesome cars and the Golf R. For everyone who is interested in drifting at all there can only be one winner. BMW M140i. And if you spend the money you saved on tuning.. lights out!
The M140i ECU has just in the last couple of weeks been cracked and a few tuners are now offering remapping via the OBD port. Advertised figures are around 440hp with a 200 cell sports cat fitted to free up some restriction and provide extra noise.
W00LFY100 if you can use that power, had nothing but dramas with mine in everything but hot dry weather and even then it wasn’t great. Really not suited to bumpy uk roads, crap dampers not enough bump travel, hollow rear subframe bushes and no lsd doesn’t help either.
No idea whether I like the Golf R or not yet as I still haven't driven one. But to be fair it's the estate version of the R up against two hatchbacks. Hardly similar and hardly stands a chance against the RS3 and BMW 1 Series.
A Golf R Estate, is not a Golf R Hatch, does it have the magnetic ride and vectoring?, plus $550 gives you a Unitronic Stage 1+ (375HP 350TQ) Keep your 10K extra RS3
Which one would you take? (and what's your take on 18:10 TBC?!)
Lovecars Bmw cause I like Rwd. All of them are great though.
can't wait for the TBC...team test is back! ;)

That's what I thought. You take what you're given... I wouldn't complain if someone handed me the keys to a rs3 lol
I am sure if Tiff walks into a dealership they would give him any car he wanted. You guys needs to make more videos at a faster rate and the channel will explode. lol bruv the s3 goes with the GTI
ElMehdi snoussi - That's cute... Come back when you have an idea...
The rs3 should be compared to the m2 based on price. Really the s3 would have been a bettet comparison.
Yes you’re right. The Golf R hatchback wasn’t available. We wanted the S3 also, not RS3
and also a caravan...its not a hatchback....
M140i for me. Last of a dying breed.
One of the guys helping on this shoot thought so also and ending up buying one!
Lovecars I did exactly the same 3 months ago via following Joe Achilles’ channel. I’m taking delivery of mine in 2 weeks.
You will love it I assure you 😉

RESULT: 370 hp and 383 ft-lbs of torque. less expensive and now it is a rocket! That is plenty for a small car and lots of fun! Cheers!
Greetings from the UK! One of our cameraman is from Canada (kind of - it's a long story!). Thanks for the nice words and the perfect sounding solution! (BTW Part 2 is going to be epic!)
I have had the m140i since April and love it! Will be interesting to see how I'm feeling about that in the middle of winter though!
Either lots of fun or very nerve racking!
I always liked Tiff 👍🏻
Hi Marcel. Good to hear. I'm sure he would like you too :) 👍
4, 5, 6 cylinders.
Golf R ❤❤❤
Love the channel boys. The Audi is obviously the one to have if you can afford it, but £50k is crazy money for a hot hatch!
Thanks! And yes £53k with a few extras. We’re doing a lower budget hot hatch soon
£50k in canadian dollars the third of small condo in Montreal
I'd probably take the BMW then the audi Audi.
Great video. Audi RS3 for me!
Thank you and good choice!
Okay, let’s just put an rs3 right next to the golf R. Even though the S3 shares the same engine and everything as the golf R
TheSovietHotDog Yes, We wanted S3 and standard Golf R hatchback, but we’re given these
Should compare S3 against GTI and M140i, similar price range. RS3 is a lot more expensive than the other 2
Yup for sure. The S3 and standard Golf R (hatchback) weren't available from their respective manufacturers
then there`s absolutely no point in conducting a test if you can`t get like for like vehicles
Not really = They've taken the top model from the respective ranges
'Unfortunately he enjoyed it so much he forgot.' 😂😂😂
Ha! We all loved that car!
Lovecars Audi S3 Sportback would have been more suitable in terms of price. But the RS3 is definitely the one to have!
Should be the S3 vs the rest not a RS3, and certainly shouldn't be a golf R estate
Luke Wardle Hi Luke. You’re right. We wanted S3 and standard Golf R hatchback, but we’re given these
Was still a good video though defiantly subscribed
Loved the racing driver excuses bit! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 Standard!
Tiff is old skl with super friendly energy, always heart warming to watch
Thanks
Great video again.
Should have got the hatchback golf r tho 😉😂
Thanks! And we tried with the hatchback!
Should have got the A45, which is the BEST hot hatch of them all. And the most powerful 4cyl production engine in the world.
Paul Taylor can’t beat a 5 cylinder noise tho
Is that even a question? This edition RS3 is absolutely a fking monster, no matter in track or drag race.
The Audi RS3 stands head and shoulders above the other cars. Pure class.
Love Tiff. Grew up with his voice on my BTC game!
Thanks! Plenty more of Tiff to come 👍
Finally some track time! That's what we want to see! Nice.
Cheers! Lots of sideways action to come!
All great cars. But I would be expecting a good few of those Audi options as standard on an RS spec car. 10k more, come on!!!!!!
Sometimes feel Audi, etc just rip the arse out of it.
You're right - but it's not unique to just Audi. They're all the same :)
You'll need to get your mitts on the Hyundai i30n. Supposed to be a weapon. Wipes its arse with a Gti golf.
Why the Estate? Standard Golf R is much better and faster
Yes spot on, we wanted the standard Golf R but sadly this was all we could get hold of. Shame really
pointless even using the golf R its not even close too the rs3 and m140i bhp should of done a45 amg would of been better
Yes for sure; but at least you got to drive my dream hatch the RS3. Sadly this beauty of a machine is not available in the US. DSG Golf R with a stage 1 can keep up with the RS3, but still that inline 5 cylinder has a beautiful sound. Love your channel keep up the good work guys!
you having a laugh? rs3 is 60 bhp more it wouldnt.
mike walling th-cam.com/video/2-L8DdwQgys/w-d-xo.html
The golf all depends on where you are trading from, if you trade up the golf is a great car but if you’re trading down then you’re left disappointed
Very good point
Kudos to the wet cameraman for the epic shots.
Thank you! Tiff said it was the wettest day filming he’s had in 30 years!
5:53 "Of course they're dependable [...]"
... excuse me? lmao
Ha! We make low budget "one take" videos. Of course we all have a PhD in hindsight and wouldn't say some things like this that are very obvious :)
Hahaha no worries! I totally understand that sentiment. Great video, don't mind me; just poking a little fun :P
All is good cars. BMW M140i manual RWD if you want to have fun and use skills.
No 6cylinder M car will ever sound better then an offbeat 5cylinder.
The RS3 sounds like a baby V10 at the top of the rev band, truly an exotic sound.
Sounds incredible, better than vast majority of v6’s and v8’s in my opinion!
Why does tiff want a round steering wheel for? Does he still use the push and pull method 😂😂😂
All 3 are "Gran Turismo" GT Hot Hatches, no track tools. So among the Gran Turismos I take the RS3.
1. "Brute Force" 2. five cylinder and 3. AWD winter capable
Nice choice and analysis!
The audi would make absolute mince meat of the others. Its in a different league. Legendary 2.5L straight 5, Quattro, agressive styling. Its honestly better in every way.
Eddy Kenton better is not more fun...
The BMW and the Audi are awesome cars for different buyers!
You know your spoiled when a Golf R doesn't make you smile,...good God!
Ha! It's all relative. Against different cars we would have been fighting over it!
Where is the focus rs (this is also German incase you didn't know lol)
considering the m140i isn't available here in the states, i chose the RS3, though i seriously considered the M2. it's styling is definitely more eye catching than the Audi's, but when i drove the M2 I missed the raw power of the RS3, and its quatro AWD.
Thanks Alan. It seems it had a huge effect as everything we’ve heard about it has been positive.
I’ve owned a R estate! It’s a great all rounder and honestly in the corners it’s shocked me! Would love to see how much better the hatch is! 👍🏼
Great video. Shame the weather was so bad as the 140i in the dry is a different car!
Part 2 on the track was much drier and the BMW was..... [you'll have to wait and see!]
Tease!
Golf R wagon..for me....the other two are weekend toys
Terrific Tiff😎
Thanks! He’s not too bad 😬
Lovecars he could see straight passed the bling and trinkets of the RS3 and the all wheel drive systems favoured by the paddle shifters and favoured the Ultimate Driving machine 😎... BMW
RS3 for the win!
2 hot hatches and a wagon
all the great weather we have had and you pick a day when its pissing down!
Sunday evening and a new Lovecars notification....awesome, thank you
You must be East of us... it's breakfast time in the UK! Thanks for watching as always
Lovecars...in Melbourne Australia.
Love the content.
Love Melbourne. One of the best city's in the world. (especially if you like sport!)
Another great video guys! 👍
Thank you very much. Lots more to come! 👍
BMW M140i is the best
Probably my favorite channel from now. Never knew you existed. I would rate you better than Top Gear and yes the Grand Tour also
Great video! Plus points for having the RS3 in my ideal spec!
thank you. Love this spec too
I have a 2-series coupe and I've never liked the 1-series. I just think it looks a bit crap looking at it head on at the front. All their other cars look great though, especially the coupes.
The seats in the BMW are great too. They don't look flashy or anything but they really hug your sides.
Love my 2013 golf r 4 door with manual transmission. Might not do the quarter as quick as a dsg but it’s fun to drive
Well said. These "chumps" would think twice for sure. We wanted the S3 but our channel's too small to get what we want, so it was the RS3 or nothing
masmainster RS3 is over a second quicker. Real world tests are nearer 3.6 to 60 mph and 8.2 to 100 mph, 11.8 secs to quarter mile, top speed 181mph. Someone had a stage 1 RS3 480bhp do 195mph...bonkers
Picking up an M140i in a few days, compared it to the Audi S3 but enjoyed the M140i so much more!
who is the guy with the red coat? Has he taken too many Xanax?
Please do the Audi RS7 whether It's the 2020 Model, or the 2017 model, I'd love to see your opinions on it.
Would love to. Will try hard to convince the nice guys at Audi to let us test one soon
Lovecars That would be great, cheers! Awesome channel by the way 👍
Love good old Tiff. Just wish Nikki joins the Lovecars crew. Great channel guys. I would have the M140i all the way. Has the most character, is available in a manual 6 speed the one I will have and rear wheel drive and it is easily tuneable. Also a bonus 45 MPG!!!!
Thank you! (Who's Nikki?)
Lovecars hahahaha. I mean Nikki Butler-Henderson. She is also very enthusiastic.
Tiffy, the Anthony Bourdain of automotive
We had to Google that! We say he's the David Attenborough - but for cars and not wildlife (guess you'll have to Google that now!)
Lovecars lol you sure made me google. cheers!
BMW M140i will be the one that will be remembered in years to come - straight 6 and RWD, others instantly forgettable. And the Audi is a ludicrous 55 grand!
Our cameraman agrees. He bought the bmw off the back of this!
Great work as usual lads thanks
Thank you! In your homeland once again!
The comparison should be between Audi RS3, Merc AMG A45 and BMW M2 for hyper hatches! Or if you wanted hot hatches then Golf R, Focus RS and Audi S3, that would make more sense. Good fun though and Tiff is just the best!!!
Thank you. And yes, that would've been the ideal match up for sure. Hopefully next time! Did you see Part 2 on the track? Much better :)
Great soundtrack. Well done on the hard slog Capturing this footage for our viewing pleasure!
Why estate ?& why compare the rs3 to the golf R ?, more fair to do the S3 against It
We wanted the S3 and Golf R hatchback.
And dont forget its my OPINION.Best regards all.
fabi ossi thanks! Nice opinion !
love it..! looking forward to part 2 guys..
Thanks Paul. Part 2 is epic!
The Mercedes A45 AMG and Honda CIvic Type R are glaring omissions from this competition
Yes but we were unable to get either for the shoot
But to be honest, I am happy enough with 310bhp.
why didnt u include Merc? I wished you had replaced it with R
Yes us too. We couldn't get an AMG sadly
When was this filmed? Hasn't rained in about 3mths
Well spotted. You're the only one to mention this! Was filmed a couple of months ago
I would get the rs3, nice video guys!
Thank you. And good choice!
A bit pointless comparing the rs3 against the golf r. (Especially the estate). Different price points and performance.
We have to make do with whatever cars we can get our hands on. We were due a hatchback Golf R but due to circumstances unknown, ended up with an estate (or nothing)
🤔....The BMW and Audi i'l take...!!!
Audi for the wet and winter ☔🌧💧☃️❄ and the Beemer for the summer and dry 🌞🌡 weather..!!!
Thanks men, great video.
I would definitely go for the M140i if I could
Nice car
Great to see Tiff here.
Nice work team. 👌
Thank you! 👍
I like the looks of the RS3, but in I'd take the BMW. It's the last BMW 1 series built with a six cylinder engine and rear wheel drive. There is just no sportier Hatchback. The Golf R is nice too, but personally I don't like the exterieur. To me it's just a bit boring.
Thanks. Very nice feedback
Two awesome cars and the Golf R. For everyone who is interested in drifting at all there can only be one winner. BMW M140i. And if you spend the money you saved on tuning.. lights out!
ViB33 good luck remapping a 140! Not at all an easy job whereas the Audi and VW are easily remapped and tuned.
Yup - we wanted a hatchback but couldn't get one for this test sadly
How I have I never seen any of your vids before? Great channel. Insta-subscribed!
Thank you! Very glad to have you as a subscriber!
