Wow, I had no idea this game was so realistic...
Kevin Schmevin it's called a simulator for a reason, also he is playing with a "mil sim" unit which do everything military style so to say very heavy roleplay but still fun. You should try it!
Actually, there are a few mods that can even up the realism a notch or two. Though it takes a very ... special kind of person to really enjoy that. Taking 15+ minutes to bandage a severely wounded person back to operational level isn't really something everyone would enjoy, neither are elaborate trigonometry calculations to fire mortars and artillery in a way that actually hits a target.
But yes, you can have that all. If you want, that is.
The game was more of military simulator.

I love watching these kinds of tactical thought-out realistic videos of arma 3. Don't know why but it's hella fun to watch throughout the whole video without skipping through anything.
yes its fun to watch kind of but not so fun to play. The biggest problom of this game is how slow and boreing it is. Compounded by the fact that the majority of players,are former failed and discharged military boomers. who want to run a game like its real life.

7:15 is one of my favorite moments and somewhat defines Arma 3 for me.. It's not always about blasting your way through dozens of enemies, more than often strategy is much more important. But really: all that tension just from a few cars that drive by? Loving it!
And the entire scene at about 14:50 just got my blood pumping. They couldn't have possibly killed off the entire squad if they hadn't been so coordinated, really amazing.

Decent job on the scenario. Any of the players former military? I am myself.. About the only thing I saw problematic was when you all silhouetted yourselves at the top of the hill with no cover moving to take out the flanking ural and apc's. Teamwork was excellent, scouting also excellent. Fire discipline excellent. Good job.
I am also a veteran and I noticed it too lol. I guess it comes with the territory.
LOL yea sometimes it can actually be a pain to be us because we critique everything we see in games or movies...
With that convoy flanking them around the hill, what should be the procedure then ?
Good question. Once they realized they had a group trying to flank, the first move would have been to send someone high to try and keep an eye on it while they moved others into an intercept position or defensive position.
Next, there were three problems with 'running' up the hill toward the flanking units as they did.
1) They opened there rear to a clear line of fire to the advancing units they had been facing.. Going up the hill just exposed their flank to those units.
2) Moving up the hill straight offered NO cover, not even any concealment, what so ever. What would they have done if the commander of the flanking units had changed direction and driven at high speed straight the crest of the hill suddenly and without warning? The troops would have been caught in the open on the both sides.. front and flank. And since they did not put eyes on those units, the enemy commander could have gotten away with just that tactic since they could not see them while charging up the hill.
3) As they reached the top/crest of the hill, they all should have gone to ground and not been standing up straight showing a nice silhouette against the sky for the flanking units down the hill... and again they crested opening their own flank and front to attack by doing so.
4) The Ambush commander should have taken this possibility into account when staging the site. Note how he sent a couple men across the road to the top of the opposite hill behind the building for the ambush? Yet took no measures to cover the flanks of either group. One or two unit members, should have been sent to a position where they could still participate in the primary ambush but also cover the flanks and scout those areas just in case a move was made... which is exactly what happened. The scouts then could have either disrupted the flanking attempt depending on weapon load out or given prior warning so units could re-position correctly without having to charge up a hill uncovered and silhouetting themselves on both sides.
Some of the tactics and discipline I see in the video were excellent as I said, the fire discipline, communication all excellent among team members. With a few small changes they would have lost no men (including the IED attack in the building and the man on the hill being flanked we are talking about)
Either the person that put this together is a civilian and has a knack for this stuff and used what limited military knowledge they have but no real world experience OR they may be military but not trained or experienced in full actual combat situations. That is not a insult at all.. Rather for either of those cases, an excellent job overall was done and the mission accomplished. And as you learn in the military, you take debrief and criticism as intended.. lessons to be learned, compartmentalized, trained on and used the next time. Not as any kind of personal attack or slight..

A friend of mine knows nothing about computers and won't learn either, what's your excuse? First, find a clan to play with, playing that game alone is boring anyway. Second, get them to help you find a good setup, most Arma3 clans are currently desperate enough for new members to help you with pretty much everything.

I just picked up Arma 3 on Steam today and I'm hyped :) Awesome video, it really showcases what this game is so good at: it's not only about shooting like in your ordinary FPS games, but you'll need strategy and planning as well. And sometimes... you get get into a mission which will be plain out boring, but that's all part of the realistic touch.

+InedibleInc I play Arma 3 and I'm always flying drewski and the squad in and out of the battle and I almost always fly first person lowering my frames more. I tend to get 25 frames average. I recently started playing Arma 2 again and even on maximum settings I am getting upwards of 90 frames whilst first person in a helicopter in the midst of battle. Arma 3 carries far more detail and graphical quality whilst arma 2 has an older and much more smooth look meaning it is much easier for many lower spec PC's to run

don't know if you noticed but its a game you would loose a lot of the fun if you went full serious.
SnoopyJammers here’s the thing though, these guys are a group of military simulators, so making it more like a military approach is the point most often.

They don´t stack because you really don´t have to against AI. You could do it for roleplay but it is really not necessary. In my unit we sometimes do it sometimes not if there is a lot of rooms to clear. Usually just 2 men per room though.
I played arma 3 for the first time tonight (only just got a pc that could run it) and played a small bit of the campaign which I enjoyed - I think the true beauty of the game comes out in scenarios like this though, and I am quite excited to try them.
I loved your videos back then but stopped for sometime. However I'll probably begin watching them again😎

Arma 3 is only 32 bit so it can only use 4, but the more you have the better since it leaves it extra working room. also the hostiles are AI
